DANVILLE, Va. - Anne Bradner Gammon, 68, of 310 Westhampton Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Friendship Manor Nursing Manor in Roanoke after one year of illness.
Born Aug. 16, 1931, in Danville, she was a daughter of Hansford Bradner and Elizabeth Gilbert Bradner, who survives.
She was married
to William Raymond Gammon Jr. of the home, who survives. She had lived her entire life in Danville and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, and her mother of Danville, survivors include one sister, Nancy B. Trotter of High Point, N.C.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Doug Pillow officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel.
Almelia Logan
RINGGOLD, Va. - Almelia Mae Logan, 65, of 180 Witcher Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at her residence.
Born May 23, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Jessie Hinton and Luvennia Clark Hinton.
She was married
to Willie James Logan, who predeceased her. She was employed at Southern Processors for many years.
Survivors include one son, Blake Short of the residence; one adopted daughter, Shawn Logan of Danville; three sisters, Cora Hinton, Stella White, and Ann Bridges, all of Patterson, N.J., and one brother, Waverly Hinton of Paterson, N.J.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunny Level Baptist Church with the Rev. William P. Thomas officiating. Interment
will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Randolph Marshall
DANVILLE, Va. - Willie Randolph Marshall, 90, of 428 Vicar Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born Jan. 15, 1910, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of John Henry Marshall and Betty Owens Marshall.
He was married
to Mary Ann Adkins Marshall, who predeceased him in January 1986. He was a member of Grace Design United Methodist Church. Until his retirement, he was employed as an overseer at Dan River Inc.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Marshall of Fredericksburg, and Ray Marshall of Montana; two daughters, Shelby Jones of Raleigh, N.C., and “Bunny” Loftis of Danville; one sister, Geraldia M. Dalton of Danville; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one grandson.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chatham Burial Park with the Rev. Tom Erwin officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Cyril Matherly
DANVILLE, Va. - Cyril Thomas “Cy” Matherly, 80, of 220 Kenmore Drive, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his residence.
Born Dec. 31, 1919, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Charlie W. Matherly and Sally Jane Norcutt Matherly.
He was married
to Irene Adkins Matherly, who survives. He was a member of College Park Baptist Church and worked for The Slater System. At the time of his retirement, he was employed in the maintenance department of Dan River Mills.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by one brother, Bennie Matherly of Danville, and three sisters, Mary McDowell and Hilda Leigh of Danville, and Velma Hawker of Keeling.
He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Hewitt officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Hazel Shelhorse
CHATHAM, Va. - Hazel Bryant Shelhorse, of 3409 Toshes Road, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
She was the daughter of Dudley Bryant and Nannie Bolling Bryant.
She was married
to Henry Cox Shelhorse, who predeceased her. She was a member of Greenbay Christian Church, and was a retired Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene S. Saunders of Lynchburg and Gennell S. Tompkins of Chatham; two sons, Wallace Shelhorse of Gretna and Henry M. Shelhorse of Chatham; one sister, Louise B. Toney of Chatham; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Nelson Bryant, Carroll Bryant, Melvin R. Bryant and Dr. Buford H. Bryant.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenbay Christian Church with the Rev. Darryl Campbell and Minister Rudolph A. Hearn officiating. Interment
will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Mickey Barton
ALTAVISTA, Va. - Mickey Louie Barton, 72, of 1006 Seventh St., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at his residence.
Born April 25, 1927, in Lynchburg, he was the son of Jess A. Barton and Bessie Law Barton.
He was a member of Elim Assembly of God.
He was a retired pipe fitter with Local Union 91.
He was married
to Gloria Dalton Barton, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include four daughters, Montine Belcher, Janice Brown and Nancy Barton, all of Danville and Nora Hazelwood of Ringgold; one stepson, Sam Worley Jr. of Gretna; two stepdaughters, Vicki Pickeral and Rosalie Payne, both of Gretna; one sister, Onnie Williams of Winston Salem, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elim Assembly of God with the Rev. David Rowland officiating. Burial will be in the Worley Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Vicki and Harry Pickeral, 2533 Cotton Patch Road, Gretna.
Alease Brumfield Holland
DANVILLE, Va. - Alease Elizabeth Brumfield Holland, 70, died Friday, February 11, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 10, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Charles Anderson Brumfield Sr. and Essie Owen Brumfield.
She spent most of her life in Gretna where she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Bill McClure of Ft. Worth, Texas and Ann and Reid Taylor of Danville; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Taylor of Danville; one step-grandson, C.R. Taylor of Grand Junction, Colorado; and one brother, C.A. Brumfield Jr.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five sisters, Clara Crider, Frances Terry, Louise Faris, Elsie Eanes and Gladys Turner.
A graveside funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Mike Hearp officiating.
The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reid Taylor, 316 Wheatley Road.

Nannie Jones
DANVILLE, Va. - Nannie W. Jones, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born April 23, 1910, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Joe Jones and Dora Jennings.
She was a housekeeper for Danville Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include three sisters, Virginia Law and Amey Morton, both of Dry Fork and Lena Jones of Washington, D.C.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cunningham & Hughes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J.P. Griffith officiating.
Burial will be in the Union Hall Baptist Church cemetery.
A viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of her sister, Amey Morton, 1620 Waller Lane.

Phyllis Marie Lynn
BRONX, N.Y. - Phyllis Marie Lynn, 57, of 2045 Story Ave., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Jacobi Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.
Born Nov. 11, 1942, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Charles Cobbs and Olivia Harriston Cobbs.
She was an executive secretary for Merrill-Lynch Investment Services.
In addition to her mother of Danville, survivors include two sons, Rodney B. Lynn and Shaun J. Jones, both of Bronx; two sisters, Agatha L. Hubbard and Jacquelyn L. Richmond, both of Washington, D.C.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at White Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Tinsley officiating.
Burial will be in Crooktown cemetery.
