Jesse Lee Moore
DANVILLE, Va. - Jesse Lee Moore, 73, of 628 Granville Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, after three years of declining health.
Born Sept. 24, 1926, he was a son of Edward H. Moore and Dora Maddox Moore.
He married
Alma Adkins Moore, who survives.
He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion of Richmond, a member of the Sheriff's Association and a retired member of Local 831.
Until his retirement, he was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
He lived most of his life in Danville, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Imogene Quinn and Pauline Dickerson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Moore of Danville, Jesse L. Moore II of Leasburg, N.C., Michael D. Moore of Danville; one brother, Allen Moore of Danville; three sisters, Lois Jeffress, Thelma Young and Mabel Anderson, all of Danville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Gilmore Hundley officiating.
Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens with graveside military honors conducted by American Legion MNemorial Post #325 Honor Guard Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

John Linwood "Lin" Pinchback
DANVILLE, Va. - John Linwood "Lin" Pinchback, 86, died Feb. 12, 2000, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born Oct. 13, 1913, he was a son of James Pinchback and Kitty Pinchback.
He was married
to Rose Anna Gunn Pinchback, who predeceased him.
Survivors include one daughter, Louise Oakes of Washington; one sister, Corrine Anderson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment
will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.
A viewing was held Wednesday at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home. The family is asked to meet at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Willard Johnson Walker
SANDY LEVEL, Va. - Willard Johnson Walker, 62, of 5473 Grassland Drive, Sandy Level, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Born April 13, 1937 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Mary Catherine Hammock Walker of Danville and the late Reb Walker.
He was of the Baptist faith. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Burlington Industries.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Hancock Walker; and two brothers, Eugene Walker and Peg Walker.
In addition to his mother he is survived by two brothers, Rusty Walker of Sandy Level, Gibbie Walker of Pelham, N.C.; five sisters, Blanche Shelton of Hurt, Christine Willis of Martinsville, Minnie Murphy of Naples, Fla., Lottie Fulp and Kathy Bolling both of Winston-Salem N.C.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Colbert-Moran Chapel with the Rev. R.G. Rowland officiating. Interment
will follow in Liberty Memorial cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
James Williams
CASCADE, Va. - James Williams, 76, of Cascade Road, died February 11, 2000, at the VA Medical Center in Richmond.
Born March 7, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Joe Wesley and Cora Millner Williams.
He was married
to the late Aldean Parris Williams.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a WWII Army veteran.
Survivors include three sons, Johnsie Williams of Richmond, James D. Williams of Washington, Lawrence Williams Sr. of the residence; one grandson; two sisters and five brothers.
A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. John Tinsley officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Eulas Holland
DANVILLE, Va. - Eulas Holland, 96, of 225 Old Piney Forest Road, died Feb. 13, 2000.
Born June 15, 1903, he was the son of Eugene Holland and Annie B. Holland.
He married
Lonnie C. Holland and was a member of White Rock Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement, he was a Lorillard Tobacco Co. employee.
Survivors include four daughters, Abelaris Dixon of Alexandria, Katrina Thompson of Danville, Jacqueline Logan of Danville, and Joyce Holland of Temple Hills, Md.; four sons, Clinton Holland of Farmville, Va., Sylvester Holland of Killeen, Texas, Eulas Holland Jr. of Danville, Donald Holland of Danville; 30 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at White Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Walter M. Tinsley officiating. Interment
will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Bernard Alphonso Jeffries
BRONX, N.Y. - Bernard Alphonso Jeffries, 51, of the Bronx, N.Y., died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at the Bronx Lebonan Hospital.
Born May 7, 1948 in Caswell County, he was the son of Lawson Jeffries Sr. and Edna Williamson Jeffries. He was a formal member of the Hamer Missionary Baptist Church.
He moved to New York in the early 1960's and was employed by the Ridgefield Warehouse for 20 years.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Bernice; four sons, Jeffery, Ashley, Antonio, and Cavin; one daughter, Angelica Jeffries Pallishaw; one daughter-in-law Vanessa, all of the Bronx.; three sisters, Effie J .Graham of New York, Mildred J. Hughes of Milton, N.C., Carolyn J. Woodard of Charlotte, N.C.; four brothers, Earl C. Jeffries of Blanch, N.C., Theron D. Jeffries Jr. of Yanceyville, N.C., and James S. Jeffries of Blanch, N.C., and seven grandchildren.

Elizabeth Baldwin Mooreman
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -Elizabeth Baldwin Mooreman, 97, of White Plains, N.Y., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Ruth Taylor Care Facility in Hawthorne, N.Y.
She was born Jan. 5, 1903, in Halifax County.
Survivors include one sister, Estella Chambers of Roxboro, N.C.; one granddaughter, Patricia Chapman of White Plains, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

DANVILLE, Va. - Lena Ellis Allred, 79, of 406 A Seminole Dr. died Feb 18, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 4, 1920, in Rockingham County, N.C., she was a daughter of James Ferdinand Ellis and Millie Ruth Fagg Ellis. She was married
to Charles H. Allred Sr. on April 12, 1942, and was a housewife. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Charles H. Allred Jr. of Pleasant Garden, N.C., Jimmy L. Allred of Greensboro, N.C., Perry W. Allred of Danville; two daughters, Barbara A. Gunnell of Danville, Brenda A. Crumpton of Danville; three brothers, Neal Ellis, Bert Ellis, and Emil Ellis, all of Greensboro, N.C., nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Carlton officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.

HALIFAX, Va. - James J. "Jimmy" Chandler Jr., 63, of 155 North Main Street, Halifax, died Feb 17, 2000, at his home.
Born in Halifax County on June 15, 1936, he was the son of James Jiggitts Chandler Sr. and Mary Gunn Chandler.
He was married
to Martha Richardson Chandler.
Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Susan Chandler of Halifax.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Bradshaw and the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating.

Carrol Roland Estes
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Carrol Roland Estes, 65, of 1717 Norwood Ave., died Feb. 18, 2000, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born March 19, 1934, he was a son of William Embra Estes and Elsie Bates Estes. He was an Army veteran, and prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machine operator at J.P. Stevens.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd Estes, and two sisters, Doris Estes and Edith E. Seamster.
Survivors include two sons, Michael R. Estes of Danville and Tony W. Estes of South Boston; three daughters, Sheila Robinette of Danville, Donna Fox of Laurens, S.C., and Susan Wercholuk of Youngsville, S.C.; two brothers, George Estes of Richmond and Ray Estes of Norfolk, four sisters, Eunice Golden of Drakes Branch, Norma Bradley of Eden, Phyllis Whitman of Eden and Elva Conner of Richmond; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Ridge cemetery.
A viewing will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, at Brooks Funeral Home.
