Ruth Grasty
DANVILLE, Va. - Ruth N. Grasty, 85, of 600 Main St. died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born Feb. 5, 1915, in Danville, she was a daughter of George Fultz and Mary Jane Coleman Fultz. She was married
to James Grasty, who predeceased her. She was employed with Export Tobacco prior to retirement, and was a member of Camp Grove Baptist Church.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.
A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Camp Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. W.J. Toomer officiating. Interment
will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.

Raleigh Jennings
DANVILLE, Va. - Raleigh Daniel Jennings, 85, of 2344 Riverside Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Riverside Health Care Center, after declining health of several years. He had been a resident of Riverside Health Care since Dec. 31, 1999.
Born July 25, 1914, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of James Jennings and Bunch Scott Jennings.
He was married
on Jan. 24, 1947, to Gladys Ferguson Jennings, who predeceased him in Dec. 1995. He had resided in Keeling his entire life. He was engaged in farming prior to retirement, and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Daniel Jennings and Luke Mark Jennings, both of Keeling; one sister, Maggie J. Covington of Danville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel J. Dalton and Dorsey Jennings.
A graveside funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Ferguson Family cemetery with the Rev. Herman Absher officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Frank D. Jinnings, 836 Oak Grove Road, Keeling.

Herman Neville
GRETNA, Va. - Herman Lee Neville, 74, of 5941 Rockford School Road died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 8, 1925, in Greensboro, N.C., he was a son of Walter L. Neville and Mary Craddock Neville.
He was married
to Jean Cook Neville, who survives. He was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church and served on the board of deacons.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, Jessie Neville of Chatham and Michael Tosh of Penhook; three daughters, Sandra Coleman of Martinsville, Judy Campbell of Pittsville and Georgia Keatts of Gretna; two brothers, Clinton Neville of Sellersburg, Ind., and Quinton Neville of Gore Spring, Miss.; three sisters, May Pickeral of Gretna, Ida Irvine of Mount Carmel, Tenn., and Elizabeth Dalton of Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sandy Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Ashworth officiating. Interment
will follow in Liberty Memorial cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Rebecca Snow
FOREST, Va. - Rebecca Taylor Snow, 79, of 154 Sunset Ridge died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at St. John's Nursing Home, Lynchburg.
Born Sept. 9, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Eugene Edward Taylor and Lou Andrews Taylor.
She was married
to Victor Snow, who predeceased her. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Vicki S. Ritchie of Forest; one son, John Snow of Chicago; two sisters, Agnes Taylor and Katherine Petty, both of Lynchburg; three brothers, Charles Taylor of Nathalie, Edward Taylor and Ramsey Taylor, both of Gretna; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Kay Holmes, and one sister, Anne Love.
A funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jess Staton, the Rev. Gary Shelton and the Rev. Rudolph Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her brother, Ramsey Taylor, 540 Red Hawk Lane, Gretna.
Warren Belcher Jr.
DANVILLE, Va. - Warren Dover Belcher Jr., 44, of 116 Pearl St., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at his residence.
Born June 14, 1955, in Danville, he was the son of the late Warren Dover Belcher Sr. and Cecil Wilson Belcher, who survives.
He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 13 years until his health failed.
In addition to his mother of the residence, survivors include one son, Terrell James Belcher of Danville; two sisters, Deneice Wimple and Constance Belcher, both of Danville; three brothers, Terry Belcher of Richmond, Stanley Belcher and Kevin Belcher, both of Danville.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Booker George officiating. Interment
will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.

James Bob Frazier
LAUREL FORK, Va. - James Bob "J.B." Frazier, 87, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000.
He was married
to Vadie DeHart Frazier, who predeceased him. He was a member pf Tory Creek Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Board of Deacons. He and his wife were instrumental in founding the Tri-Area Health Clinic in Laurel Fork.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Frazier Sutker and Andrea Frazier, both of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Frank Frazier of Martinsville and J.B. Frazier of Laurel Fork; two sisters, Bonnie Quales and Lillian Russell, both of Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, Ed Frazier of Piney Flats, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Tory Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Combs officiating. Interment
will be in the DeHart cemetery Meadows.

Chester Hyler
DANVILLE, Va. - Chester Woodrow Hyler, 78, of 9920 Martinsville Hwy., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center after three years of declining health and a two-week stay in the hospital.
Born April 28, 1921, in Brosville, he was the son of William James Hyler and Virginia Jane Childress Hyler.
He was married
to Elsie Rush Hyler, who survives, on Nov. 15, 1941. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He had made his home in the Bachelors Hall community of Pittsylvania County most of his life. He was a carpenter for Nationwide Homes in Martinsville for a number of years prior to retiring at 65. He was a member of Holland Road Baptist Churh where he was a Deacon and on the Board of Trustees.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Gene Hyler of Danville; three brothers, Aubrey S. Hyler, Archer A. Hyler, and James B. Hyler, all of Danville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holland Road Baptist Church with Pastor James Mayes, the Rev. Aubrey Dewberry and the Rev. Harold Chilton officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

Cordelia Jackson
WASHINGTON - Cordelia C. Jackson, 87, of 1400 Florida Ave., N.E. #414, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in the Washington Hospice.
Born March 31, 1912, in Danville, she was the daughter of William Henry Coleman and Marsrow Perry Coleman.
She was married
to Rucker Jackson, who predeceased her. She was a postal clerk for many years prior to her retirement.
Survivors include one son, Roderick Jackson of Sutherland. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by one daughter.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Serenus Churns officiating. Interment
will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.
Nathan Walker
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Nathan Thomas Walker, 60, of 1213 Friend Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born July 26, 1939, in Halifax County, he was the son of Johnny Seamster and Ethel Walker Seamster.
He was married
to Sharon Rose Walker, who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Nathan "Tony" Walker of Chatham, Jan Walker of Alton and Michael Walker of Nathalie; one daughter, Lisa W. Conner of Halifax; one step-daughter, Tami Kornbau of Halifax; four sisters, Carol Gordon of South Boston, Jean Drake of Buena Vista, Shirley Crews of Nathalie and Debra Pryor of Drakes Branch; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Centerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Saunders and the Rev. Ralph Neal officiating. Burial will be in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

Edgar Linwood Crumpton
DANVILLE, Va. - Edgar Linwood Crumpton age 92 of 2406 West Main died Friday Feb. 25, 2000 at his residence after a long decline in health. He was married
to Nannie Lou Carter Crumpton, who predeceased him Feb. 26, 1991. Born June 9, 1907 in Caswell County, N.C., Mr. Crumpton was the son of the late John Carroll Crumpton and Ruth Ann Cook Crumpton. He was retired from Dan River Inc. where he worked in security. He was a charter member of the Stokesland United Methodist Church where he held various positions.
Surviving are two daughters and one son: Linda Joyce Crumpton Easley, Lou Anne Crumpton Jordan and Eddie Carroll Crumpton, all of Danville. One grandson, Eddie Carroll Crumpton of Danville. One sister, Nannie Sue Crumpton of Gatewood, N.C. He was predeceased by 3 brothers; Pritchett, Doc, and Wiseman Crumpton. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Stokesland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Greg West and the Rev. Barry Crumpton. Interment
will be in Mt. View cemetery. THe family will receive friends at the Swicegood Funeral Home Monday night from 7:00 until 8:30 o'clock. At other times the family will be at the residence. Rickey Glenn Dalton
DANVILLE, Va. - Rickey Glenn Dalton, 39, of Danville, died Feb. 25, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 21, 1961, in Lynchburg he was a son of Lawrence Elray Dalton Sr. and Ruby Dorothy Adkins Dix.
He was married
to Aleta Maria Dalton who survives.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Dalton Jr., Charles Dalton; and a sister, Mildred Dalton.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a step-son, Robert Evans of Danville; a step-daughter, Nickkie Lyns Evans of Danville; a brother, Roger Dale Dalton of Danville; and four sisters, Hilda D. Arnold of Altavista, Brenda K. Harrison, Linda Mayhew, both of Danville, and Elsie Faye Pulliam of South Boston.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Leesville United Methodist Church cemetery.
