DANVILLE, Va. - Opal Peace Large, 82, of 74 Stokesland Ave., died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at her residence.
Born May 26, 1917, in Claiborne County, Tenn., she was the daughter of John Bruce Peace and Sarah Neely Peace.
She was married
to Alonzo Herbert Large, who predeceased her. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Dan River Inc., She was a member of the Emanuel Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include two sisters, Martha Chavis of Danville and Mallie Jacobs of Tampa, Fla.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Martin officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mildred Lloyd
DANVILLE, Va. - Mildred Richardson Lloyd, 71, of 627 Arnett Blvd., Danville, died March 2, 2000, at her residence.
Born Sept. 7, 1928, in Mullins, W.Va., she was the daughter of Wiley Roy Richardson and Nyanza Hash Richardson. She was married
to Paul Hollins and later to Frank Lloyd, who both predeceased her.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda High of Charleston, S.C., Vicky Hollins of Hilton Head, S.C.; one son, Paul Hollins of Richmond; four sisters, Clara Whitt of Roanoke, Cletis Weaver of Ellen Jay, Ga., Shirley Love of Danville, Marlene Hicks of Blairs; one brother, Marvin Richardson of Chatham; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was predeceased by one sister, Bonnie Farley; and one brother, William Richardson.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R. Fletcher Hardy III officiating. Interment
will follow in the Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Sunday, at Scott Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence of Marlene Hicks, 1684 David Giles Lane, Blairs.
Mary Motley
DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Helen Hurt Motley of 124 Cherry Lane, Danville, died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1925 in Abingdon, Va., she was the daughter of Wallace Owen Hurt and Mary Helen Bickley Hurt. She was married
to Anderson B. Motley Jr., who survives.
She attended Agnes Scott College and Emory & Henry College. She graduated magna cum laude from Stratford College in 1971. She was a member of the Joseph Gravely Chapter DAR, the Wednesday Club and Waycross Garden Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 50 years.
She was predeceased by one son, A.B. Motley III.
In addition to her husband of the residence, she was survived by one daughter, Catherine Motley Payne of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, Robert Hurt Motley Sr. of Richmond; one brother, Charles F. Hurt of Lynchburg; three grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday from First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jack Heinsohn officiating. Interment
will be in Gretna cemetery.

Rosa Thompson
CHATHAM, Va - Rosa A. Thompson, 41, of 344 Rison St., Chatham, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2000, in Stratford Health Center, Danville.
Born Jan. 19, 1959, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Walter Thompson and Margret Thompson Glass.
She was a member of Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Rashad Thompson of Chatham; one sister, Phebie T. Witcher of Chatham; and four brothers, Robert L. Thompson of Reidsville, N.C., Walter Thompson, Jimmy Thompson and Percy Thmpson, all of Chatham.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday from Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. H.G. McGhee officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.
A viewing will take place from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Howerton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence of Carl Witcher, 512 Neighborhood Road, Chatham.
Charles Weber
DANVILLE, Va. - Charles Hubert Weber, 83, of 121 Fenton Place, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in Danville Regional Medical Center, after 16 months of declining health.
Born Feb. 28, 1917 in Danville, he was the son of Charles Meek Weber and Kezzie Woosley Weber. He was married
to Wilma Bradner Weber, who survives.
He was a graduate of Danville Military Academy where he was commandant of cadets his senior year. He attended Duke University as well. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a flight instructor for B-17s the Army Air Corp. He served 23 years in the Virginia Army National Guard. He was an organizer of the Danville Civil Air Patrol, as well as a founder of the Danville Jaycees. He was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. He worked in construction, and later owned and operated the family business of C.M. Weber & Sons.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by two sons, Steve Weber and David Weber, both of Danville; one daughter, Susanne Harris of Danville; one sister, Pauline W. Robertson of Durham, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Douglas Pillow officiating. Military graveside honors will be given by the Honor Guard of American Legion Post No. 1097.

Phyllis "Squeeky" Adams
DANVILLE, Va. - Phyllis "Squeeky" Ann Adams, 47, of 830 Coles St., died Tuesday, April 25, 2000 in Danville.
Born Jan. 22, 1953 in Danville, she was the daughter of William E. Adams and Alice Hubbard Adams.
She was a housekeeper for Economy Inn.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Adams of Danville; and two sisters, Virginia Evans and Katherine Stokes, both of Danville.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Cunningham & Hughes Memorial Chapel with Minister Joe Pannell officiating. Interment
will follow in the Highland Burial Park.

Zonius Fitzgerald
DANVILLE, Va. - Zonius Fitzgerald, 72, of 859 Lee St., died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 9, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Thomas Fitzgerald and Rentha Ferguson Fitzgerald.
He was married
to Rowena Carter Fitzgerald, who survives. He was a member of Guildfield Baptist Church and was an employee of Dan River Mills prior to his retirement.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by three daughters, Ruby F. Carter and LaVerne Fitzgerald, both of Danville and Brenda M. Motley of Greensboro, N.C.; five sons, Wayne Fitzgerald of Manhattan, N.Y., Alvis Fitzgerald of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Carl T. Fitzgerald and Charles Fitzgerald, both of Greensboro and Dennis Fitzgerald of Danville; two sisters, Charlotte Adams of New Haven, Conn. and Monzelle Adams of Manhattan; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Guildfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harold Vann officiating. Interment
will follow in Highland Burial Park.

Lois Jeffress
DANVILLE, Va. - Lois Moore Jeffress, 90, formerly of 231 South Ridge St., died Friday, April 28, 2000 at Riverside Health Care Center, after six months of declining health.
Born Nov. 9, 1909 in Prattville, Ala., she was the daughter of Edward H. Moore and Dora Maddox Moore.
She lived most of her life in Danville, and was a nurses assistant at Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Jeffress Whitaker of Trinity, N.C.; one brother, Allen E. Moore of Danville; two sisters, Mabel Moore Anderson and Thelma Moore Young, both of Danville; and one grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Woodrow Giles officiating.

Tessie Lewis
DANVILLE, Va. - Tessie Mebane Lewis, 84, of 121 Mabin St., died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at her residence.
Born June 6, 1915 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of John E. Mebane and Amanda Hodges Mebane.
She was married
to Edward H. Lewis, who predeceased her.
She was an employee of Peoples Drug Store for over 32 years, and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board.
Survivors include two sisters, Jeanne Swanson and Vivian Bolden, both of Washington.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Bridgeforth officiating. Interment
will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.

Charlotte Richardson
DANVILLE, Va. - Charlotte Cassidy Richardson, 75, of 231 South Ridge St., died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Stratford Health Care Center, after one year of declining health.
Born Jan. 17, 1925 in Caswell County, N.C., she was the daughter of William H. Cassidy and Charlotte Allen Cassidy.
She was married
to Frank Richardson, who predeceased her on Oct. 16, 1988.
She lived her entire life in Ringgold and was a member of the Central Boulevard Church of God.
She was a member of the Mountain Hill Ladies Auxiliary, and prior to her retirement, was an employee at Dan River Mills.
Survivors include one son, Frank Edward Richardson of Danville; two sisters, Ruth Ann Cook and Catherine Gillespie, both of Danville; and one grandson.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, from Central Boulevard Church of God, with the Rev. John Meadows and the Rev. Curtis Cook officiating. Interment
will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Utha Yeaman
DANVILLE, Va. - Utha Sides Yeaman, 77, of 1900 Glenn St., died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 24, 1922 in Danville, she was the daughter of Boyd Charlie Sides Sr. and Gracie Barbour Sides.
She was married
to Thomas Elwood Yeaman, who survives.
She lived her entire life in Danville and was a member of North Main Baptist Church, where she was active with the Sunshine Group.
Prior to her retirement, she was an employee at Dan River Mills.
In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by two daughters, Nancy Yeaman Ussery of Martinsville and Carolyn Yeaman Graves of Knoxville, Tenn; one sister, Jean Sides Gauldin of Danville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Helen S. Shaw and a brother, Boyd Charlie Sides Jr.
