DANVILLE, Va. - Paulina Bridges Eanes, of 130 Sunset Drive, died May 13, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center, after five months of declining health and a three-week stay in the hospital.
Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of Emmett H. Bridges and Callie Shively Bridges.
She was married
to Herman Adams Eanes, who predeceased her on Dec. 6, 1976. She lived all of her life in Danville, where she was a hairdresser for Nor Dan Beauty Salon until her retirement. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Claudine B. Prewette of Durham, N.C. and Ruby B. Johnson of New Jersey.
A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday from Riverview Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane O. Blivens officiating. Interment
will follow in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-3:45 p.m. Sunday at Riverview Baptist Church.

Kathleen Hamrah
CHATHAM, Va. - Kathleen Anderson Hamrah, 81, of 12341 Franklin Turnpike, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center, after two years of declining health.
Born April 5, 1919 in Danville, she was the daughter of Charlie H. Anderson and Annie Lindsey Anderson.
She was married
to Charles H. Hamrah, who predeceased her. She moved back to the Danville-Pittsylvania County area 16 years ago from New Jersey. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Morton Jewelers. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Cavalier of Downers Grove, Ill.; four sisters, Lois Burns and Juanita Rowsey, both of Chatham, Marie Ainslie of Fredericksburg and Louise Templeton of Rock Hill, S.C.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Clarence Anderson.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Highland Burial Park with Father David McGuire officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times at the residence.
Genevieve Harris
CASCADE, Va. - Genevieve R. Harris, 68, of 5201 Whispering Pines Road, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Born April 28, 1932 in Saltville, she was the daughter of Dewey Repass and Emma Loraine Frye Repass.
She was married
to John Q. Harris, who survives. She was a member of the Saltville Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by one daughter, Susie Keatts of Albemarle, N.C.; four sons, Jackie Harris of Cascade, Mike Harris of Axton, Rodney Harris of the residence and Ricky Harris of Ridgeway; four sister, Alverta Puckett, Peggy Repass and Bertha Repass, all of Saltville and Barbara Olinger of Richmond; two brothers, Charles W. Repass of Glade Springs and Russell Repass of Buffalo, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from McKee-Stone Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Griffith officiating. Interment
will follow in Mountain View cemetery, Ridgeway.

Samuel Sharp
DRY FORK, Va. - Samuel Furdon Sharp, 79, of 149 Pleasant Gap Drive, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Gretna Health Care Center.
He was born Nov. 19, 1920 in Russell County.
He was married
to Elizabeth Stowe Sharp, who survives. He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of Dry Fork, he is survived by two daughters, Delores S. Shelton and Phyllis S. Smith, both of Danville; one son, Timoly Sharp of Danville; one stepdaughter, Debra M. Smith of Dry Fork; one stepson, Ricky Mayes of Dry Fork; five sisters, Helen S. Christon, Lou S. McClothin, Mattie S. Elswick, Gladys S. White and Nola S. Gross, all of Raven; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Nannie S. Gross and Anna S. Boyd; and four brothers, Herbert L. Sharp, John W. Sharp, Charlie C. Sharp and Henry C. Sharp.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Knick officiating. Interment
will follow in Emanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery.

Lizzie Wright
DANVILLE, Va. - Lizzie Marlow Wright, 84, formerly of 37 Selma Ave., died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the residence of her son, Jimmie Wright, after four years of declining health.
Born March 12, 1916 in Callands, she was the daughter of Fletcher Lee Marlow and Maybird "Berta" Hankins Marlow.
She lived in the Danville area for 56 years. Prior to her retirement, she was an employee of Dan River, Inc. for 37 years. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her generation.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby Agnes Rigney of Danville; one son, Jimmie L. Wright of Ridgeway, Va.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Greeson officiating.

DANVILLE, Va. - Helen Lewis Dunevant, 81, of 208 Third Avenue, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 19, 1918 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Walter Henry Lewis and Clyde Haraway Lewis.
She was married
to Fred Evans Dunevant, who predeceased her on Oct. 31, 1991. She was a housewife and a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn D. Chapman of Blountville, Tenn.; one son, Lewis A. Dunevant of Marshall; two sisters, Clara L. Bennett of Brunswick, Ga. and Nancy L. Boswell of Orange Park, Fla.; three brothers, Roy A. Lewis of Burlington, N.C. and Walter H. Lewis Jr. and Charles F. Lewis, both of Providence, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Steve Harris
CASCADE, Va. - Steve Douglas Harris, 45, of 529 Huntington Trail, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C., as a result of injuries sustained in an explosion and fire on April 25, 2000 at his business in the Laurel Park community.
Born Nov. 5, 1954 in Danville, he was the son of the late J.H. Harris Jr. and Loraine Soyars Harris, who survives.
He was married
to Janet Stophel Harris, who survives. He was a 1973 graduate of Tunstall High School and lived in Cascade all of his life. He was a member of Cascade Baptist Church and co-owner of Chatmoss Auto Parts for 27 years.
In addition to his wife of the residence and his mother of Cascade, he is survived by one son, Justin Douglas Harris of the residence.

Annie Kate Johnson Johnston
DANVILLE, Va. - Annie Kate, Datie, Johnson Johnston, of the Riverside Health Care Center, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the nursing facility after a period of declining health. Mrs. Johnston was previously a resident at Stratford House.
She was born on June 17, 1900, in Opelika, Alabama. She was the daughter of Haywood M. and Annie Kate Frazer Johnson.
She was a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David White Johnston and a granddaughter, Beth Johnston.
She is survived by her sons, David W. Johnston Jr. of Danville, Va. and Arthur Johnston of Atlanta, Ga., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was a lady of courage and honor who had many friends that she made while living in Atlanta and Columbus, Ga., Opelika, Alabama, and Danville.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, May 16, 3000 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Douglas Pillow.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkhill cemetery in Columbus, Ga.

Ron Strickland
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Ron Strickland, 50, of Huntsville, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, in Nashville, Tenn.
He was a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church and attended Furman University on a football scholarship from 1967-1970. He received his MBA from Averett College in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville, where he served on the Board of Deacons. He worked for Goodyear. In 1989, he moved to Huntsville, where he worked at Dunlop Tire Corp. He was a member of Valley Hill Country Club and served a term on the board.
Survivors include his wife, Kaye Strickland of Huntsville; one daughter, Stephanie Colclough of Tuscaloosa; his mother, Cornelia Strickland of Dallas, Ga.; and one sister, Gina Bryant of Gainsville, Ga.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Willowbrook Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Interment
will follow in Maple Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, Huntsville.
