Curtis Gwynn
DANVILLE, Va. - Curtis Johnson Gwynn, 63, of 100 Paul St., died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 20, 1936, in Caswell County, N.C., he was a son of Eugene Martin Gwynn and Burdia Turner.
He was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church and was formerly employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and later retired from Fieldcrest Mills as an engineer development operator. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorble discharge.
Survivors include four sisters, Betty Edmunds and Katherine V. Craig, both of Danville, Burdia Satterhwaite of Hyattsville, Md., and Lula Miller of Washington.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fulton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Everett Dickerson officiating. Interment
will be in the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Funeral Home, Yanceyville.
Willie Lee Henry
DANVILLE, Va. - Willie Lee Henry, 90, formerly of Heritage Towers, 231 South Ridge Street, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home after five years of declining health. She had been a resident of Roman Eagle for three years.
Born December 27, 1909, in the Glenwood community of Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Thomas Sylvester Williams and Annie Elizabeth Kent Williams.
On March 22, 1932, she was married
to Noel David Henry, who predeceased her December 12, 1959. She was a member of Keen Street Baptist Church. She was a member of Dorcas Sunday School Class. She lived her entire life in Danville, Virginia. She retired from Dan River Mills, Inc. after 43 years where she worked in the weave room.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Harold D. Henry and wife Sylvia Smith Henry of Danville, the Rev. David L. Henry of Roanoke, and Donald R. Henry of Newport News; four granddaughters, Vicki Gibowski of Pensacola, Fla., Debbie Hart of Roanoke, Ann DiMedio of Woodbridge, and Cathy Price of Arlington, Texas; one grandson, Noel David Henry of Newport News, and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Keen Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Thomas Brown and The Reverend Carl Burger officiating. Interment
will be in Mountain View cemetery.
The family received friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel, and other times at the residence of a son, Dr. Harold D. Henry, 210 Downey Lane, Danville, Virginia.
Harry Millner
DANVILLE, Va. - Harry James (Willie) Millner, 49, of 3633 Golf Club Road died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at his residence.
Born Jan. 29, 1951, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of James Robert Millner and Sophronia Holt Millner, who survives.
He was married
to Della Denise Tarpley Millner, who survives. He was a member of Bibleway Cathedral Holiness Church and was a retired employee of Daniel Hopkins Landscaper.
In addition to his wife of the residence and his mother of Dry Fork, survivors include one daughter, Cassandra Michelle Millner-Walton of Cascade; one brother, Robert Lee Millner of Danville; three sisters, Dorothy M. Miller of Washington, Betty M. Kernodle of Danville, and Margaret Tinsley of Martinsville, and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bibleway Cathedral with Elder Phillip Cambpell officiating. Interment
will be in the Fowlkes Family cemetery, Danville.
A viewing will be held from 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Funeral Home.

William Newbill Jr.
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - William Brady "Buck" Newbill Jr., 44, of Rivermont Apts. #4, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born May 18, 1956, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of William Brady Newbill Sr. and Amy Robertson Mewbill, who survives.
He was last employed with Virginia Mirrow Company in Martinsville. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother of Penhook, survivors include six sons, William Sentel Brander of Penhook, Titus, Tavun, Teuen, and Teshun Richardson, all of Martinsville, and Justin Chaney of Penhook; two daughters, Tia and Tanya Richardson, both of Martinsville; three sisters, Celia Turner and Naomi Kellum, both of Martinsville, and Cynthia Newbill of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Michael Newbill of Martinsville, and Elbert Newbill of Penhook, and one grandson.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Acuff and Virginia Robertson, and paternal grandparents, Berley and Callie Newbill.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mease Family cemetery with the Rev. James Pearson officiating.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, Amy Newbill, 46 Edward Road, Penhook.

Leroy Pinchback
DANVILLE, Va. - Leroy Pinchback, 66, of 944 Green St., died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Brookneal.
Born Dec. 6, 1933, in Caswell County, N.C., he was a son of Willie Henry Pinchback and Elizabeth Whisett Pinchback Brown.
He was employed by Liggett Myers Tobacco Company of Danville before retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, Harrison Miles, Barry Miles and Elroy Miles, all of Danville; four brothers, Larry Pinchback, Harry Pinchback and William Pinchback, all of Danville, and Ruben Pinchback of Philadelphia; three sisters, Nancy Adams and Ruth Chandler, both of Greensboro, N.C., and Linda Hines of Philadelphia; four stepsisters, Helen Gunn, Evelyn Gunn, Mayrene Gwynn, all of Yanceyville, N.C., and Lou Ella Cole of Greensboro, N.C.; one half sister, Sarah Mason of Greensboro, N.C.; three stepbrothers, Huston Brown of Yanceyville, N.C., Robert Brown of Reidsville, N.C., and Joe Brown of Danville.

Willie Cox
VIRGILINA, Va. - Willie Cox, 75, of 4238 Red Bank Road, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at his residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1924, in Granville County, N.C., he was a son of Fred Cox and Lena Riggins Cox.
He was married
to Estelle Thomas Cox, who survives. Prior to his retirement, he was a mixer at Rochester Button. He was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by two daughters, Joyce G. Green of South Boston and Linda Howell of Farmville; two sisters, Margaret Cox Newton of Oxford, N.C. and Adelle Cox Pulliam of Virgilina; two brothers, Lee Cox and Roy Cox, both of Bullock, N.C.; and two granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Carolyn Jean Cox; and one sister, Maudie Cox Thomas.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chad Branch officiating. Interment
will follow in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mary Alice Martin Dean
DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Alice Martin Dean, 86, of 307 Girard St., died Friday, May 26, 2000, at her residence.
Born March 25, 1914, in South Boston, she was a daughter of Charles Martin and Mary Ellen Vaughn Martin.
She was married
to Orien F. Dean, who predeceased her in December 1978. She was a member of The Tabernacle and a former Sunday school teacher. She was a self-employed caregiver.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby J. Royal of Rockville, Md., and Delores B. Seay of Danville; two sons, Glen W. Dean of Danville, and O. Frank Dean Jr. of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Mae Martin of Turbeville, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Clara Bass and Georgia Martin, and three brothers, Lillous Martin, Jesse Martin and Lacas Martin.
A graveside funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. Carl Burger and the Rev. Brian Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Anthony Joseph Forrester
DANVILLE, Va. - Anthony Joseph Forrester, 73, of 206 Robertson Ave., died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 7, 1926, in New York, he was the son of Anthony Forrester and Helen Furgerson Forrester.
He was married
to Moira Doran Forrester, who survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was Operation Manager of J.F.K. Airport until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include four sons, George Forrester and Michael Forrester, both of Danville, and Martin Forrester and Dennis Forrester, both of new York; two daughters, Mary Wetter of New York and Florence Forrester of Danville; one brother, Ed Forrester of New York; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Margaret Albano, and one son, Thomas Forrester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Dario Saniel officiating. Interment
will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Townes Memorial Chapel, followed by the family receiving friends until 8:30 p.m.

Earl Lee Jackson
GRETNA, Va. - Earl Lee Jackson, 77, of 3580 Brights Rd., died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at his residence.
Born Nov. 24, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Claude Thornton Jackson Sr. and Evie Dalton Jackson.
He was married
to Katie Hunt Jackson, who survives. He was a retired carpenter with Henry Creasy Inc. and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by two sons, Mark Jackson and Carl Jackson, both of Gretna; one daughter, Kathy Haskins of Gretna; one brother, Dudley Jackson of Lexington, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Vickie Lynn Jackson; and one brother, C.T. Jackson Jr.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert Johnson, the Rev. John Belderes and Pastor John Austin officiating. Interment
will follow in Summersett Baptist Church cemetery.

Samuel B. Roach
GRETNA, Va. - Samuel Berry Roach, age 92, of 3012 Mountain Road, Gretna, died Sunday, May 28, 2000 in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born January 18, 1908 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Norman Lee Roach and Ellie Virginia Edwards Roach. Mr. Roach was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Moon Roach, a daughter, Linda Pickeral, three sisters, Alice McGregor, Rebecca Davis, Geneva Burnett; two brothers, Charlie Roach and J.W. Roach. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Riceville and a retired farmer.
He is survived by a daughter, Joan Roach of Gretna; two grandchildren, Regina Meadows of Gretna and Ed Pickeral of Hurt; six sisters, Willie Hutcherson of Gretna, Ruth Weatherford of Halifax, Sue Hankins of Gretna, Mary Barbour of Martinsville, Lizzie Dalton of Newport News and Velma McGregor of Gretna; two great-grandchildren, Audrie Meadows and Lance Meadows.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Joe McKissick and Rev. Shelton Miles. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his daughter, Joan Roach, 3016 Mountain Road, Gretna.
