Louise Adams Greenwood
DANVILLE, Va. - Louise Adams Greenwood, 83, of 121 Martindale Drive, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Greenwood was born on July 19, 1916 the daughter of Roskie and Mae Adams of Riceville.
She was married
to William Irving Greenwood who survives.
She was predeceased by four brothers; Carlton Adams of Renan, Noel Adams of Riceville, Wilmer Adams of Chatham and John William Adams of Danville.
Mrs. Greenwood was an accountant for the Community College System. She started her career at Danville Technical Institute and later with the development of the V.P.I. Extension and finally at Danville Community College before retiring.
She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Dolores Wilson Reynolds of Danville; one brother Elwood Adams and one sister Rita Parker Allen both of Danville; two stepsons, Paul Greenwood of Midlothian, Va.; Bill Greenwood, Jr. of Kernersville, N.C. and one stepdaughter Carol Trejo of Tuscon, Az.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2000, 2:00 p.m. at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Lee Elison, Rev. Steve Carlton and Rev. Bill Greenwood, Jr. will be conducting the services. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive family and friends at the residence of her brother at 425 Chadwick Drive in Southwyck Farms. Townes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Mozelle Warff Gwynn
DANVILLE, Va. - Ruby Mozelle Warff Gwynn, 96 formerly of 3258 U.S. Hwy 158 West, Yanceyville died Wednesday, June 7, 200 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, Danville, Va.
She was born in Danville, Va. on May 20, 1904. The daughter of the late Henry Warff and Georgia Phillips Warff. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church for 76 years, where she was pianist and charter member of United Methodist Women. She attended George Washington High School and Averett College, where she received her certificate in music. She was a music teacher. She was married
to the late J.D. Gwynn, Sr.
Survivors include one daughter; Marie Gwynn, Yanceyville, N.C.; three sons, J.D. Gwynn, Jr. Yanceyville, N.C.; Dr. Richard Gwynn, Oxford, N.C.; Dr. William Gwynn, Hickory, N.C. Eighteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Prospect United Methodist Church by Rev. Jack Ruth. Interment
will follow in church cemetery.
Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m., Friday at Marley Funeral Home, Yanceyville, N.C. Other times at the residence of Marie Gwynn, 2811 U.S. Hwy 158W, Yanceyville, N.C.

Thomas Hairston
DANVILLE, Va. - Thomas Hairston, 66, of 403 Cliff St., died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 23, 1933, in Draper, N.C., he was the son of Chris Hairston and Chris Anne Wilson Hairston.
He was married
to Anna Ferrell Hairston, who survives. He was employed with Joseph Coplen Landscaping Company for many years.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one stepson, Billie Ferrell, and two sisters, Marie Hawkins and Virginia Hunt, both of Maryland.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Grove Baptist Church, Sutherlin, with the Rev. Dr. James Cabell officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Leon Jayne
DANVILLE, Va. - Emil Leon Jayne, 65, of 5036 Worsham Court died suddenly Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Danville Regional MEdical Center.
Born September 6, 1934, in Centralia, Illinois, he was the son of Emil F. Jayne and Lena Tabor Jayne Draper.
On July 31, 1954, he was married
to Delores Clark Jayne, who survives.
Mr. Jayne moved to the Danville area in 1954 where prior to his retirement he was previously employed with the City of Danville and was one of the first employees hired in 1966 at the Goodyear plant in Danville. Mr. Jayne was a member of the Williamson Memorial Presbyterian Church where he also served as an elder. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Emily Jayne DuVarney of Boone, N.C.; son-in-law, Brian DuVarney of Boone, N.C.; grandson, Noah Michael DuVarney of Boone, N.C.; sister, Lorelei Fox of Walnut Hill, Illinois; sister Ilene Caldwell of Cupertino, California; mother-in-law, Edna Clark Pugh of Danville, Va.; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Phyllis and Buddy Clark of Fancy Gap, Va., sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Becky and Billy Gravely of Ringgold, Va., sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Sue and Johnny Quinn of Danville, Va.
A graveside funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2000, at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Harold Kistler officiating.
The family received friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and other times at the residence.
Mildred Pritchett
DANVILLE, Va. - Mildred Adkins Pritchett, 78, of 3112 Westover Drive died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at her residence after six months of declining health.
Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Benjamin Fred Adkins and Lucy Wilkinson Adkins.
She was married
to John Leonard Pritchett, who predeceased her in 1979. She lived her entire life in Pittsylvania County where, prior to her retirement, she was employed with Dan River Inc. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret A. Hill of Danville.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. Carl Burger officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Fred Woltz
RINGGOLD, Va. - Fred Presiper Woltz, 76, of 285 Sandy Creek Church Road, died Wednesday, June 6, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Thomas C. and Mamie Street Woltz.
He was married
to Blanche Anderson Woltz, who survives. He was a farmer for most of his life, and also worked as a barber.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Priscilla W. Jones of Stratford, Sandra L. Lycs of Bowie, Md., and Edna Briscoe of Los Angeles; two sisters, Kaylor Drew and Inez Kilson, both of Philadelphia; one brother, Thomas S. Woltz of Lanham, Md.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Graves officiating. Interment
will follow in the Woltz family cemetery.

James Davis
DANVILLE, Va. - James Thomas Davis, 82, of 2069 Stony Mill Road, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health and a six-day stay in the hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1917, in the Brosville community of Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Jesse Thomas Davis and Lou Eanes Davis.
He was married
to Gertrude Parsons Davis, who predeceased him on March 4, 1990. He worked at Dan River Inc. for many years before retiring at the age of 65.
He was the owner of Davis Christmas Tree Farm. He lived in Brosville all his life and was a member of Brosville United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader, choir member, Superintendent of Sunday School, and served on the official board of the church. He was a well-known poet and was a charter representative forming the Boy Scouts of America Pack # 378. He was a member of the Brosville Ruritan Club.
Survivors include one son, William James "Billy" Davis of Brosville, and one sister, Elizabeth Davis of Brosville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Thomas Wayne Davis.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brosville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Rochford officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

WYTHEVILLE, Va. - Mary Francis Abbott Fleming, 65, died Thursday, June 8, 2000 at her residence.
Born in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Abbott and Tiller S. Abbott, who survives.
She was retired from ALCO.
In addition to her mother of Danville, survivors include two daughters, Connie Faye and Michelle Renee Fleming, both of Wytheville; one son, William David of Roanoke; two sisters, Doris Tilghman and Dovie "Bootsie" Ferrell, both of Danville; three brothers, Curtis, Bobby and Tom Abbott, all of Danville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Raymond Abbott.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Barnes and Mrs. Louise Falwell officiating. Internment will follow in the West End cemetery.
