Early Wayne Watlington
DANVILLE, Va. - Early Wayne Watlington, age 26, was found at his residence, Tuesday, July 4, 2000.
He was born in Danville, Va. on March 9, 1974, a son of Wayne Pendleton Watlington and Barbara Cook Watlington.
Mr. Watlington was employed with Burlington Industries and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents he is survived by two sisters, Kim Payne, Danville, and his twin sister, Tammy Moore, Pelham, N.C.; brother-in-law, Derek Moore, of Pelham, N.C.; nephew, Jeremy Payne of Danville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 from Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Mitchell Cifers. Interment
will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends Thursday night at Townes Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:30 and at other times will be at the residence, 32 Philips Road, Providence, N.C.
Jesse Williams
CASCADE, Va. - Jesse T. Williams, 72, of 140 Bill Road, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000.
He was born in Pittsylvania County.
He was married
to Virgie Dillard Williams, who survives. He was a retired employee of Hooker Furniture Company.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Jimmy Williams of Danville and Thomas Williams of Cascade; five daughters, Mazie Murphy of Axton, Bernice Motley and Gladys Clark, both of Danville, Helen Burger of Martinsville and Jessie M. Wooding of Dry Fork; two brothers, Albert Williams of Danville and Burneh Williams of Cascade; four sisters, Annie Kate Hairston of Danville, Lucille Wilkerson of Cascade, Dorothy Cannon of Martinsville and Lourine Hairston of Eden, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment
will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Eric Wilson
CASCADE, Va. - Eric Lamont Wilson, 28, of 3284 Cascade Road, died Monday, July 3, 2000, in Greensboro, N.C.
Born June 20, 1972, in Eden, N.C., he was the son of Ernest K. Wilson and Flossie Ramsey Wilson, both of whom survive.
He was employed with the Dana Corporation as a Product Technician and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, survivors include one sister, Shannon Wilson of the residence; one brother, Bryant Wilson of Raleigh, N.C.; paternal grandparents, James and Roberta Wilson, and maternal grandmother, Dora Ramsey.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Tinsley officiating. Interment
with military rites will follow in the Cascade Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Helen Blackwell
DANVILLE, Va. - Helen Blackwell, 88, of 114 Sedgefield Court, Apt. 12 died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 28, 1933, in Yanceyville, N.C., she was a daughter of George and Gertrude Allen.
She was married
to Handy Blackwell, who survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include six daughters, Patricia White, Rosa Allen, Wanda Redd, Tamye Blackwell, and Penelope Millner, all of Danville, and Phyllis Mangum of Yanceyville, N.C., and one son, Ronnie Lea of Danville.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sassafrass Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Bigelow officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at 361 Maxine Road.

Harry Lee Coleman
DANVILLE, Va. - Harry Lee Coleman, 84, of 101 Berkley Street died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home after three years of declining health. He had been a resident of Roman Eagle for one week.
Born September 16, 1915, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Ballard Comer Coleman and Rosa Robertson Coleman.
On March 9, 1939, he was married
to Jessie Wingfield Coleman, who survives.
Mr. Coleman had lived all of his life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. He was employed with Abercrombie Oil Company where he worked as a Transport Operator for a number of years until his retirement.
He was a member of West End Christian Church where he served as Deacon, Usher, Church Elder and in a number of church Departments. He was awarded Trustee Emeritus of the Church.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sally Coleman Shields and James E. (Jim) Shields of Danville; two brothers, Rawley Coleman of Culpeper and Billy Coleman of Danville; two sisters, Louise C. Patton of Durham, N.C. and Adalia C. Hubbard of Richmond; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Coleman Shields, and a grandson, John Shepherd Shields.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. June Haislip Hughes and the Rev. Dana Hunt officiating. Interment
will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and other times at the residence of his daughter, Sally C. Shields, 123 Updike Place, Danville.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association, Blue Ridge of Virginia Chapter, P.O. Box 5014, Roanoke, Virginia 24012 or to the charity of choice.

Anthony Gill
DANVILLE, Va. - Anthony Chris Gill, 29, of 547 Westover Drive died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1970, in Danville, he was a son of Jerry Wayne Gill and Patricia Spencer Gill, who survive.
He was married
to Angela Waller Gill, who survives. Most of his life was spent in Danville where he was a welder for Mt. Cross Welding.
In addition to his parents of Axton and wife of Danville, survivors include one son, Adam Christopher Gill of Danville; one brother, Kenneth Patrick Gill of Axton; maternal grandmother, Ocie W. Spencer of Danville and paternal grandmother, Beatrice Chenault Gill of Danville.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John H. Meadows and the Rev. Michael Walker officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Millard Nibblett
GRETNA, Va. - Millard Nibblett, 52, of 1280 West Gretna Road, Apt. 5 died Thursday, July 6, 2000, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 16, 1947, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Rufus Nibblett and Addie Myers Nibblett, who survives.
He was married
to Mary Nibblett, who also survives. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed with Times Fiber Communications Inc. and was a member of the New Life Apostolic Church, Callands.
In addition to his mother and wife, both of Chatham, survivors include one son, Anthony Nibblett of Collinsville; two daughters, Carolyn Perkins of Ridgeway and Tanya Pritchett of Danville; two brothers, Larry Niblett of Martinsville and Bernard Nibblett of Java; one sister, Gloria Tarpley of Chatham, and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, Conrad Nibblett.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at New Life Apostolic Church with Elder Charlie Witcher officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his wife, 4427 Hollywood Road.

J'Nell Reynolds Oakes
CHATHAM, Va. - Reva J'Nell Reynolds Oakes age 71 of 1979 Ivory Branch Road Chatham, Virginia died Friday July 7, 2000 at the Danville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Oakes was born October 7, 1928 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
She was the daughter of the late Charlie Ward Reynolds and Macy McNealy Reynolds. She is survived by her husband Wyatt Oakes of the residence; two daughters, Patty O. Mace of Callands and Kathy Gail Oakes of Chatham; one brother, Marshall Reynolds of Chatham; five sisters, Nannie Wade Reynolds and Claire Reynolds both of Callands, Keren R. Smith of Springfield, VA, Virginia R. Garlick of Fairfax, VA and Aleen R. Chappell of Hemet, CA; two grandchildren, Leonard Christopher Aaron and William Nathaniel Aaron both of Callands. She was predeceased by three brothers, Dillard Reynolds, Joe Reynolds and Spruce Reynolds. She was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church.
Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday July 9, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. from the Oak Ridge Christian Church, by the Ministers Kenneth McFarling, J.D. Hunt, III, and Jack Oakes. Interment
will be in Reynolds Family cemetery, Callands.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Saturday July 8, 2000 at Scott Funeral Home, and at other times will be at the residence 1979 Ivory Branch Road, Chatham. Vernard Brumfield
DANVILLE, Va. - Vernard Giles Brumfield, 79, of 560 Bermuda Road, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born May 21, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of William Christopher Brumfield and Lelia Giles Brumfield.
He was married
to Verla Fitzgerald Brumfield on June 26, 1948. She predeceased him on May 27, 1991.
Prior to his retirement, he was a Press Operator for J.T. Townes Printing Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, Elder, trustee, and a youth group leader. He was also a member of the Danville order of Woodmen of the World and a Gideon.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Ann Brumfield of New York City; and one brother, J. Howard Brumfield of Danville.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Beverly C. Brumfield; and three sisters, Roxie B. Stowe, Elsie B. Swann and Ocie B. Blair.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, from Barker Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Interment
will follow in Highland Burial Park.

Dorothy Brummett
DANVILLE, Va. - Dorothy Marie Gilley Brummett, 67, of 36 Schoolfield Drive, died Saturday, June 8, 2000, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, where she had resided for three days, and had been in declining health for three years.
Born Jan. 6, 1933, in Patrick County, she was a daughter of Richard Gilley and Margie Bowles Gilley.
She lived in Danville for 35 years, where she worked at Dan River Inc. for 28 years prior to her retirement.
She was married
to Robert Brummett, who predeceased her in 1982, and later married
James W. Brummett, who survives.
In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by six stepdaughters, Mary McKee, Helen Eanes, Bonnie Goins and Jewel Cumbo, all of Danville, Donna Newton of Smith Mountain Lake and Jackie Hammock of Dry Fork; three stepsons, James Brummett Jr. and Jerry Brummett, both of Danville and Roy Brummett of Eden, N.C.; two sisters, Nannie Poole of Bassett and Sally Crumpton of Danville; 25 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Grubb officiating. Interment
will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
