Mary Dix Stanfield
CHURCH ROAD, Va. - Mary Dix Stanfield, 90, of Church Road, VA, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2000. She was the daughter of the late Felix Andrew and Gertrude Page Dix, wife of the late Bedford E. Stanfield, and mother of the late Larry A. Stanfield. Mrs. Stanfield was a former Sunday school teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church. She also held various offices in the Loyal Homemakers Club and was selected as the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Dinwiddle County in 1970. She is survived by three sons, James E. Stanfield and wife Shirley of Church Road, Donald T. Stanfield and wife Patricia, and Reginald A. Stanfield and wife Jean of Midlothian; one daughter, Mary V. "Ginger" Pfister and husband Bob of Louisville, KY; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren, two sisters, Zettie D. Holderby of Reidsville, N.C. and Virginia D. McKinney of Danville, and one brother, James A. Dix of Danville.
Predeceasing her were a sister, Martha D. Yeatts of Gaithersburg, MD, and two brothers, Bedford Page Dix of Danville and Harold Dix of Pueblo, CO. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2000 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Maurice Hancock, pastor officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home.
William Swanson
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - William "Bill" Prentiss Swanson, 66, of 1224 Mulberry Road died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.
Born June 11, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of James T. Swanson and Lumma Atkins Swanson.
He was married
to Bonnie Young Swanson, who survives. He was past owner and operator of Martinsville Wholesale Grocery Co. until retirement and also worked at sears, Liberty Fair Mall as a sales associate.
He was a member of Cool Spring Christian Church where he served as an elder, deacon, Chairman of the Board, and many other positions within the church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #152.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, Donald P. Swanson of Collinsville and Russell D. Swanson of Martinsville; one brother, Eugene A. Swanson of Callands; one sister, Frances P. Smith of Callands and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, J. W. Swanson.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Interment
will follow at Roselawn Abbey.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the residence.

Billie Trevillian
DANVILLE, Va. - Billie Bragg Trevillian, 61, of 224 Parker Road, Apt. 1, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several months of declining health.
Born Oct. 3, 1939, in Danville, she was the daughter of Fletcher T. Bragg and Althea Wilson Bragg, who survives. She spent most of her life in Danville where she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her mother of the residence, survivors include three sons, Benny Trevillian, Thomas Trevillian and Michael Trevillian, all of Danville; one sister, Barbara Snead of Hampton and three grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Schoolfield cemetery with the Rev. Jack Robertson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Myrtle Williams
DANVILLE, Va. - Myrtle Gary Williams, 92, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born Nov. 12, 1908, in Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of Egbert Gary and Ida Lois Gary.
She was married
to James W. Williams, who predeceased her Oct. 12, 1954. She was a member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include three sons, James G. Williams of Roanoke, Ebbie Williams of Las Vegas and W.H. Williams of Danville; one sister, Mabel G. Davis of Danville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Gary Milstead officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Townes Funeral Home and other times at the residence of W.H. Williams, 345 Hampton Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church or the Danville Life Saving Crew.
Naomi Wilson
DANVILLE, Va. - Naomi Lee Goodson Wilson, 83, of 8985 Martinsville Hwy. died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Riverside Health Care Center after one week of declining health.
Born July 14, 1917, in Pike County, Ken., she was the daughter of Archie L. Goodson and Patsy Thomas Goodson.
She was married
to Woodrow Lee Wilson, who predeceased her Jan. 12, 1954. She lived in Hellier, Ken. prior to moving to Danville in 1990. She was of the Baptist faith. She was the last survivor of her generation.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Wilson Mullins of the residence; one son, Woody Thomas Wilson of Callands; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one great-grandson.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Lamb officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

Elwood Taylor
HELENA, Ala. - Elwood Taylor, 85, of 1274 Old Cahaba Trace, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at the University of Alabama Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1915, in Fredericksburg, Va., he was a son of Ellen Taylor French.
He was married
to Martha Taylor, who predeceased him. He was a retired employee of the City of Danville Utility Department.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Allen of Danville, Va.; two sons, Charles Gray of Danville, Va. and Thomas Taylor of Helena; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. James Stewart officiating. Interment
will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Sierra Powell
SCOTTSBURG, Va. - Sierra Denise Powell, infant daughter of Tony Powell and Cynthia Watkins Powell, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
She was born Dec. 15, 2000, in Charlottesville.
In addition to her parents of Scottsburg, survivors include her maternal grandmother, Emma Watkins of Scottsburg, and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Powell Sr. of Nathalie.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Bethel Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Clover, with the Rev. Roald Claiborne officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her maternal grandmother, Emma Watkins, 1110 Wood Creek Lane, Scottsburg.

Giles Ramsey
CHATHAM, Va. - Giles Thomas Ramsey, 96, of 7260 Callands Road, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at his residence.
Born Dec. 18, 1904, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of James Winburn Ramsey and Lizzie Stowe Ramsey.
He was married
to Jessie Johnston Ramsey, who predeceased him.
Survivors include three daughters, Marion R. Marlowe and Janice R. Garcia, both of Chatham, Ernestine R. Reynolds of Dry Fork; one son, Harold T. Ramsey of Dry Fork; two sisters, Viola R. Jones of Millersville, Pa. and Helen R. Compton of Gretna; one brother, J. W. "Pete" Ramsey Jr. of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by one daughter, Bernice Long and one grandchild.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Scott Funeral Home Chapel, with Curtis English officiating. Interment
will follow at the Hollywood Baptist Church cemetery.

Willie Reynolds
GRETNA, Va. - Willie Reynolds, 48, of West Briar Apartments died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at his residence.
Born Jan. 20, 1952, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Johnnie Reynolds and Laura Hubbard Reynolds.
He was married
to Ronda Reynolds, who survives.
He was employed as a lineman at the Lane Company.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sisters, Margaret Myers of Gretna and Lil White of Danville; five brothers, James Reynolds of Chatham, John Reynolds, Ronald Reynolds and Carlton Reynolds, all of Danville and Stanley Reynolds of Roanoke.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Walter J. Coles officiating. Interment
will follow at Elba cemetery, Gretna.
