DANVILLE, Va. - Rosie Marie Madison, 56, of 25 Old Halifax Road, Lot #47 died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 24, 1944, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of George Witcher and Nonie Green Witcher.
She was married
to Warren Madison, who survives.
She was a retired employee of Danville Regional Health Systems.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Silas Lee Madison and Terry Wayne Madison, both of Danville; three sisters, Etrulla Wilson of Danville, Barbara Allen of Mechanicsville, Md. and Ruth Watson of Oxon Hills, Md.; four brothers, Willo Witcher of Chatham, George Witcher Jr. and John Witcher, both of Danville and Randolph Witcher of Blairs.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Bethel Way of the Cross Church, Mount Cross Road with Apostle Joseph Adams officiating. \Interment will follow at the Witcher Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Earl Owen Sr.
FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Earl Covington Owen Sr., 71, of 6901 Cabana Lane died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at V.A. Hospital, West Palm Beach.
Born April 11, 1929, in Halifax County, he was a son of Mason Lagrand Owen and Nannie Covington Owen.
He was a retired farmer, veteran of the United States Army and member of Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Owen of Fort Pierce; one daughter, Debbie O. Hall of Halifax, Va.; three sisters, Page DeJarnette of Martinsville, Va., Elizabeth Gosney of Halifax and Velvet DeJarnette of Union Hall, Va.; one brother, Ted Owen of Halifax and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Earl Covington Owen Jr.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Welch and the Rev. Ed Griffin officiating. Interment
will follow at Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church cemetery.
Frances Watts
DELAND, Fla. - Frances Fentriss Watts, 88, died Saturday, January 13, 2001.
Born July 16, 1911, in Danville, she was the daughter of Oscar Glenn Fentriss and Bernice Appleby Fentriss.
She was married
to Edward Elmore Watts, who predeceased her. She was educated locally, including Averett College. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, the Dorothea Chapter, NSDAR, the Wednesday Club and the Beverstone Garden Club.
Survivors include one sister, Bernice F. Keat of Portsmouth; one grandson and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Thomas Edward Watts and three brothers, Oscar G. Fentriss Jr., Lane A. Fentriss and Byron J. Fentriss.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Bennett officiating.

Tencer Hubbard
HURT, Va. - Tencer Miller Hubbard, 86, of 344 Spaniel Rd., died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born August 9, 1914, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Babe Miller and Rosa Miller.
She was married
to Floyd Hubbard, who predeceased her. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Hunt of Hurt; one sister, Nellie Miller of Philadelphia; one grandson, four great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Gennette Gilbert, one son-in-law, Raymond Gilbert, two brothers Willie Miller and Dave Miller, and one sister, Mary "Sis" Miller.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Rev. R.P. King officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery. A repast will follow in the fellowship hall of the church following the burial.

Eunice Hylton
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Eunice Dowdy Hylton, 63, of 203 Hill 'n' Dale Road, died Thursday, January 18, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born June 10, 1937, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of James L. Dowdy and Prince Anna Jones Dowdy.
She was married
to Robert Hylton, Sr., who survives. She was a retired employee of E.I. Dupont Company and Rack Room Shoes and attended Collinsville Church of the Brethren.
Her survivors include three sons, Robbie Hylton, Jr. of Figsboro Community, Bruce Hylton and Steve Hylton, both of the residence; one brother, Euell and sister-in-law Evelyn Dowdy of Rocky Mount, Va; one brother-in-law Billy and sister-in-law Dorothy Hylton of Figsboro Community; sister-in-law Binky and Brother-in-law Steve Faw of Florence, S.C.; Sister-in-law Fran and Brother-in-law Tom Warren of Dayton, OH; two grandchildren, Johnathan and Benjamin Hylton; and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Rudolph Dowdy Sr., and J.D. Dowdy.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January, 20, 2001, at Collinsville Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Roy McVey. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services and at the residence.

Anna Lee Jordan
GRETNA, Va. - Anna Lee Harvey Jordan, 90, of 361 Telegraph Rd., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Brookneal.
Born Feb. 3, 1910, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Robert Harvey and Lucy Dickerson Harvey.
She was married
to William Jordan, who predeceased her. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as mother of the church and senior choir member.
Survivors include one daughter, Lena Jordan of Gretna; two sons, James Harvey of Plainfield, N.J. and William Jordan Jr. of Gretna; thirteen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, and an aunt, she was predeceased by three sisters, Nannie Crews, Martha Thompson and Mary Callands.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gretna, with the Rev. Burnett Clark officiating. Interment
will follow in the Dickerson family cemetery.
A repast will follow in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the burial.

CLOVER, Va. - Maxine Elizabeth Musser Thomas, 74, of 1036 Three Fork Trail died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1926, in Washington County, she was a daughter of Charles Musser and Pearl DeBusk Musser.
She was married
to Joseph I. Thomas, who predeceased her.
She was the retired owner/operator of Hungry Hunters Restaurant and attended Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Tooley of Clover; three sisters, Pauline Alderman of Williamsburg, Eula Francisco of Glade Springs and Estellene Jackson of Bristol; one brother, Sam Musser of Meadowview; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Michael J. Thomas, one sister, Mildred Orfield, and four brothers, Author Musser, Earl Musser, Arival Musser and Herman Musser.
A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at Williamsburg Memorial Park with the Rev. William Cashman officiating.

DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Vasser Vickers, 92, of 629 Monroe St., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 6, 1908, in News Ferry, she was the daughter of Moses Vasser and Alteur Calloway Vasser. She was married
to Napoleon Vickers, who predeceased her.
Survivors include one brother, George Vasser of Gladys.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Prospect Baptist Church on Old Mayfield Road, with the Rev. Demetrius Crews officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.

James "Fred" Worley
DANVILLE, Va. - James Fredrick "Fred" Worley, 70, of 205 Bennett Street in the Vandola community, died Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. Worley was born on November 25, 1930 in Washington Co., Va. the son of William Arthur Worley and Violet Barrow Worley.
He was married
on February 8, 1952 to Peggy Cassada Worley who survives at the residence.
Mr. Worley was retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith.
Besides his wife of the residence, he is survived by two daughters, Sandra Worley Myers and her husband, Franklin D. Myers, of Danville; Kathy Worley Parrish and her husband Marc H. Parrish of Danville; One brother, Perry Worley of Danville; five sisters, Cassie Smith of Danville; Barbara Motley of Hayes, Va.; Ruth Turpin of Danville; Gail Scearce of Danville; Helen Turpin of Danville (Old Mayfield Community); three Grandchildren, Penny M. Holley and her husband Douglas A. Holley, Matthew H. Parrish and Hilliary A. Parrish all of Danville; and two great grandchildren, Vincent D. Holley and Katherine E. Holley both of Danville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2001, 2:00 P.M. at Townes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. Leroy Clack will be conducting the services. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2001, 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Townes Funeral Home. Other Times the family will be at the residence at 205 Bennett Street in the Vandola Community.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Danville.
