Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Leonard Collins

DANVILLE, Va. - Leonard G. “Jack” Collins, 65, of 621 Timberlake Drive died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health.
Born March 30, 1935, in Caswell County, N.C., he was a son of William Collins and Lizzie Stanley Collins.
In 1975, he was married to Carolyn Long Collins, who survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was owner and operator of South Main Produce.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Michelle L. Collins and Ashlyn N. Collins, both of Danville; one son, Leonard G. Collins II of Danville and one sister, Ivenia C. Barbour of Danville.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Gary Milstead officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Townes Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Danville Life Saving Crew.

Ozella Mauldin

AIKEN, S.C. - Ozella Brock Mauldin, 81, of 410 Greenwich Drive died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of Bayliss Creighton and Ella Jane Moore Brock.
She was married to Benjamin Franklin Mauldin, who predeceased her. She taught in the Aiken County School system for 21 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. She was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a graduate of Asheville Normal & Teachers College. She was a member of the Hospital Auxillary of Aiken County, volunteering in the pharmacy department. She received the Cross of Military Service from the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1998.
Survivors include one son, James Stephen Mauldin of Danville, Va.; one daughter, Candace Mauldin Marra of Evans, Ga.; two sisters, Fay Ella Bryant of Augusta, Ga. and Eulala Kelley of Walhalla, S.C. and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Millbrook Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Leopard and Dr. James W. Rivers officiating. Interment icon with military honors will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Rivers Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Home Mission Fund at Millbrook Baptist Church, 176 East Pine Log Road, Aiken, S.C. 29803.

Andrew McDaniel

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Andrew David McDaniel, 76, of 7905 Lindbergh Blvd. died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Lansdowne.
Born March 4, 1924, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Edward McDaniel and Estella Millner McDaniel.
He was married to Beatrice Fountain McDaniel, who survives. He was a 30 year veteran in the United States Navy where he achieved the rank of Sr. Chief Petty Officer and was an employee of the U.S. Post Office for 17 years prior to retirement.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one son, Steven; two daughters, Janis and Regina, all of Philadelphia; one sister, Catherine M. Smith of Cascade; two brothers, Horace McDaniel of Martinsville and Otha McDaniel of Eden, N.C. and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John W. Tinsley officiating. Interment icon will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Full military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 29.
Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Irving Green Meadows

RICHMOND, Va. - Irving Green Meadows, 79, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Clara H. Meadows; his daughter, Nancy M. Holder and her husband, T. Michael Holder; granddaughter, Deborah H. Garrett; two great-grandchildren, William Chadwic and Michael Coleman Garrett; two sisters, Colleen Whitt of Felton, Del. and Mary Elizabeth Clanton of Oraville, Calif. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment icon washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, 23231.

Hazel Warren

DANVILLE, Va. - Hazel Hawker Warren, 94, of 164 Canterbury Road died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Stratford Health Care Center.
Born August 24, 1906, in Danville, she was the daughter of Cabell C. Hawker and Nannie Kate Shorter Hawker.
She was first married to Harry Lee Keeton, who predeceased her in 1940, and was later married to Walter Clarence Warren, who predeceased her in 1978. She lived all her life in Danville and was a member of College Park Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her generation.
Survivors include two sons, Harry M. Keeton of Danville and Richard M. Keeton of Lake Lure, N.C.; one daughter, Nancy K. Smith of Danville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Hewitt officating. Interment icon will follow at Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Townes Funeral Home.

Carroll White

SUTHERLIN, Va. - Jesse Carroll White Sr., 55, of 2704 Kerns Church Road died suddenly Saturday, January 20, 2001, at his business on the South Boston Hwy.
Born March 4, 1945, in Danville, he was a son of Jesse Willard White, who survives, and the late Alease Belcher White.
On July 13, 1963, he was married to Linda Pritchett White, who survives.
Mr. White had lived all of his life in the Sutherlin Community of Pittsylvania County and was educated in the county school system. He was founder and operator of Whites Construction Company and of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his wife of the residence and father of Sutherlin, survivors include three sons, Sherman Lee White, Jesse Carroll (J.C.) White Jr. and Jamerson Willard White, all of Sutherlin; three sisters, Linda W. Barley of Danville, Betty W. Guerrant of Keeling and Kitty W. Stevens of Sutherlin; one brother, George Randall White of Sutherlin and three grandsons, John Michael White, Austin Lee White & Colby Jamerson White.
He was predeceased by one brother, John Robert White, and one granddaughter, Kristin Blake White.
A funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Dale Proctor and the Rev. Joe Bradford officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Kerns Memorial United Methodist Church, 3172 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin, Virginia 24594.

Melvin Bennett Sr.

CHATHAM, Va. - Melvin Everett Bennett Sr., 72, of 630 Oakland Drive died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Danville regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 1, 1928, in Neptune, N.J., he was a son of Clarence Bennett and Olive Parker Bennett.
He was married to Anice Allen Burnnett, who survives. He was a member of Christian Heritage Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three daughters, Cynthia B. Bilgrav and Valerie B. Marchick, both of Blairs and Paula B. Horsch of Lenden, N.J.; one son, Melvin E. Bennett Jr. of Danville; one sister, Lois B. Egan of Eddison, N.J.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Minerva B. Hetvel and Everlyn Bennett and three brothers, Warren Bennett, Dory Bennett and Marvin Bennett.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Scott Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Hedrick officiating. Interment icon will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Scott Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Williams Gibson

STONEVILLE, Va. - Frances Williams Gibson, 82, of 180 Carter Dairy Road, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at Britthaven of Madison.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26th, 11:00 AM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Reidlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Newport News, VA. She retired from Cone Mills and was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris E. Gibson; son, Charles Hunter Gibson and daughter, Judy Griffin.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Carter and husband, Randolph of Stoneville; sons, Roger Gibson and wife, Shirley of Stoneville, Gary Gibson and wife, Ida Mae of Burlington, Eddie Gibson and wife, Danice, of Burlington, Joe Gibson and wife, Carolyn of Danville, VA; 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Mildred Hijinicolors of Baltimore, MD.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 25th, from 7:00-9:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the daughter's home, 180 Carter Dairy Road.

Agnes Hunt

GRETNA, Va. - Agnes Graves Hunt, 51, of 2249 Whitefall Road died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 19, 1949, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Jessie Graves and Mary Gilbert.
She was married to Lewis Hunt, who survives. She was a homemaker and member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served on the missionary circle, as the secretary of Sunday school and in the senior choir.
She was predeceased by one brother, Daniel Graves.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include three daughters, Patricia Stone of Hurt and Rhoda and Amy Hunt, both of Gretna; two sons, Lewis M. Hunt and Daryl Hunt, both of Gretna; seven sisters, Rosa Muggins of Brooklyn, N.Y., Fannie Womack of Long Island, Blache Witcher of Richmond, Willie Mae Graves and Alberta Adams, both of Hurt and Shirley Lewis of Gretna; one brother, Nathaniel Graves of Gretna; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Jones officiating. Interment icon will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of a sister, Fannie Womack, 388 Wyatts Road, Long Island, Va.
Miller Funeral Home, Gretna, is in charge of arrangements.

Linda Kallam

SPENCER, Va. - Linda Marie Kallam, 56, of 258 Evergreen Drive died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.
Born Nov. 10, 1944, in Axton, she was the daughter of Arthur Burton Kallam and Mozelle Burton Kallam, who survives.
She was a member of Old Well Christian Church where she was a member of Christian Womens Fellowship. She was retired from DuPont after 30 years of service and was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School, class of 1963.
In addition to her mother of Spencer, survivors include one daughter, Gina M. Turney of Spencer; one sister, Inez Morris of Rocky Mount; four brothers, Roy B. Kallam of Danville, Ronnie Kallam of Martinsville, David W. Kallam of Spencer and Lee Kallam of Ridgeway and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, John Wayne Kallam.
A funeral will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Old Well Christian Church with Ministers Zeke Zanatos and David Kallam officiating. Interment icon will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Old Well Christian Church.
Community Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Monte Hale Long

ALTON, Va. - Monte Hale Long, 53, of 1038 Turbeville Road died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Nov. 20, 1947, in Halifax County, he was a son of William Harris Long and Eva Puryear Long.
He was retired Norfolk-Southern Railroad and was a veteran.
He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Jodi Lynn Long of Winter Park, Fla.; one sister, Dale L. Reaves of South Boston and two brothers Harker Long and Cliff Long, both of South Boston.
He was predeceased by one brother, Jeff Long.
A graveside funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Grove U.M.C. cemetery with the Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating.
The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home and will receive friends other times at the residence of Dale and Curtis Reaves, 3038 Cluster Springs Road, South Boston.
