KEELING, Va. - Charles William Talbott, 66, of 1173 Oak Grove Road died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 9, 1934, in Halifax County, he was a son of Dence B. Talbott and Inez Walker Talbott.
He was a member of Peytonburg Episcopal Church and worked as a farmer.
Survivors include three brothers, Henry G. Talbott Sr. and Donald W. Talbott, both of Danville and Marion O. Talbott of Durham, N.C. and two sisters, Laura Hammack of Danville and Sue Talbott of Madison, Maine.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Foster.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Hussey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the residence of Henry G. Talbott Sr., 317 Deercrest Lane, Brosville.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of choice.
Virginia Flynn
DANVILLE, Va. - Virginia Sperling Flynn, 77, of 2943 North Main Street died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born Dec. 31, 1923, in Danville, she was a daughter of William Charles Sperling and Ida Powell Sperling.
She was married
to Samuel J. Flynn, who predeceased her Jan. 26, 1994.
She was the manager of the Snack Shop at Danville Regional Medical Center for over 25 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Stephen James Flynn of Clemmons, N.C. and one grandchild.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Freddy Vicks officiating.
Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Emma Fuller
CHATHAM, Va. -- Emma Keen Fuller, 79, of 2804 Strawberry Road died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 10, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Ford and Ludie Dickerson Keen.
She was married
to Aubrey Fuller, who survives.
She was a retired employee of Stanley Furniture Company, Martinsville and was a member of Callands Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Aubrey Benjamin Fuller of Chatham; one daughter, Margaret Kelly of Chatham; three sisters, Nannie Jones of Martinsville, Nettie King of Danville, and Barbara Day of Chatham and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Hubbard, Thelma Royal and Dorothy Minter, two brothers, William Keen and Herman Keen and one grandchild.
A funeral will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Callands Baptist Church with the Rev. Obedele St. George officiating.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Jeanette Hazelwood
CLOVER, Va. - Jeanette Vassar Hazelwood, 79, of 2030 Mill Road died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at The Woodview.
Born March 13, 1921, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Morell and Clara Snead Elliot.
She was married
to Noland Hazelwood, who survives. She was a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church and was retired from Tultex.
Survivors include five sons, Hugh Vassar of Alexandria, Ronnie Vassar of Red Oak, James H. Vassar of South Boston, Floyd Vassar Sr. of Scottsburg and Gerald Vassar Sr. of Clover; three daughters, Donna Vassar of South Boston, Sue V. Lacks of Scottsburg and Gaynell V. Wade of Clover; three sisters, Maurine Ligon and Edith Williams, both of Scottsburg and Dorothy B. Dance of South Boston; four brothers, Donald Elliott of Scottsburg, Wallace "Brownie" Elliott of Clarksville, Harry Byrd "Butch" Elliott of South Boston and Robert "Bobby" Elliott of Huntington, Md.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one son, Jan Bryant Vassar; four brothers, Cecil, Lawrence, Willis and Floyd Elliott; two sisters, Ruth Pulliam and Geneva Elliott and one grandson.
A graveside funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Clover cemetery with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home.

Donald Glenn Hile
GLOUCESTER, Va. - Donald Glenn Hile, age 73, went home to be with the Lord, and to be forever reunited with his beloved wife Gladys on January 21, 2001. He will be forever remembered for his love of family and persons whose path he crossed. As a father, grandfather and friend, he always provided a warm and loving home. He had a special place in his heart for children, animals and flowers. He was the founder and proprietor of Hile's Nursery which he started in 1975. He served many loyal clients who often became his friend.
Survivors include: 2 daughters: Linda H. Schultz and husband George and Pat West and husband J.T.; 3 sons: Glenn C. Hile and wife Joyce, Leslie T. Hile and wife Sharon, Donald L. Hile and wife Linda; 1 sister: Beverly Murray; 1 brother: Joseph Hile; Father-In-Law: Leonard Turner; 9 grandchildren: Joshua and Lori Hanna, Daniel Hile, Alister Hile, Steve Schultz, Kate Schultz, Megan Hile, Scott Hile and Evan Hile.
Also, 2 special neighbors: Hugh and Margaret Wyatt.
Funeral services, conducted by the Reverend Robert Woodfin, will be held Saturday, January 27, 2001, 2:00 p.m. at Bellamy United Methodist Church, 4870 Chestnut Fork Road, Gloucester.

DANVILLE, Va. - Darlene Annette Fitzgerald, 44, of 319 Plum Street, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
Born Jan. 8, 1957, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Cooper Glass and Mary Hood Wilkins who survives.
Survivors include one daughter, Krystal Fitzgerald of Danville; five sisters, Charlotte Beard, Margaret Bass, Sharon Beard and Jacqueline Saunders, all of Danville, and Carolyn Glass of Hartford, Conn. and one brother, Ronnie Glass of Danville.
A funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jones Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Hayses McConnell officiating. Interment
will follow at the Highland Burial Park cemetery.
The family will receive friend at the home of her mother, 860 Eagle Springs Road.

Kenneth Walter Gusler
DANVILLE, Va. - Kenneth Walter Gusler, 41, of 1590 Fulton Heights, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at his residence.
Born June 23, 1959, in Danville, he was a son of Herbert Gusler and Alta Trent Gusler.
He lived in Danville all his life and worked at Dan River, Inc. for 22 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Lynn Gusler and Michelle Denise Gusler, both of Danville; one brother, Wayne Gusler of Danville; three sisters, Brenda G. Hyler of Danville, and Judy G. DeHart and Donne G. Walker, both of Ringgold.
He was predeceased by a sister, Carol G. Parrot.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Cox officiating. Interment
will be at a later date at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his brother, Wayne Gusler, at 115 Woodside Road in the Green Acres community.

Samuel Knick
DANVILLE, Va. - Samuel David Knick, 64, of 208 Beavers Mill Road, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 14, 1936, in Lexington, he was a son of John Bolivar Knick and Ottie Moses Knick.
He was married
to Geraldine Knick, who survives. He lived in Danville for the past 18 years after spending most of his life in Newmarket. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Rockingham Poultry as a supervisor and also worked for Westover Cartredge before retiring. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include one son, Samuel David Knick Jr. of Parkesburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Sandra Gail of Front Royal and Pamela Jean of Oklahoma; four brothers, Carl J. Knick, John Henry Knick and Elmer C. Knick, all of Lexington, and William Richard Knick of Danville; six sisters, Dorothy Dooley of Newmarket, Evelyn Knick and Christine Blankenship, both of Colonial Heights, and Ottie Marie Canady of Tarpin Springs, Fla. and Margie Ellen Plogger and Patricia Ann McGee both of Lexington, and a number of grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Estel Knick.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Cox officiating. A second funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lexington and interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Sunday, and at other times at the residence of his brother, Richard Knick, at 500 Copperhead Road off of Hunting Hill Trail.
