KEELING, Va. - Doris Eugene Moorefield Trammell, 75, of 17640 Old Richmond Road, Keeling, died Thursday, March 15, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 22, 1925, she was the daughter of Willie Moorefield and Lucy Edwards Moorefield.
She was married
Oct. 16, 1945 to Willis Thomas Trammell, who survives. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a housewife and was very devoted to her family.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of the residence, includes four sons, Tommy Trammell, Bobby Trammell, Jerry Trammell and Ricky Trammell, all of Keeling; three daughters, Linda T. Doss of Danville, Marie T. McCoy of Ringgold, Gloria T. Shelton of Keeling; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tom Erwin and John Meadows officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Barker Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

Buddy Walker
DANVILLE, Va. - Buddy Lee Walker, 71, of 252 Parker Road, Apt. 16, died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the residence.
Born Dec. 9, 1929 in Danville, he was the son of John Lewis Walker and Mary Magdalene Hodges Walker.
He worked for the Water Pollution Control Plant for the City of Danville as a shift supervisor and was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the United States Marines and United States Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post in Danville and was a member of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mona Weeks of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Rena Clifton and Annie Burnette, both of Danville; two brothers, Willard Walker and Riley Walker, both of Danville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by five brothers, J.D. Adkins, Richard Adkins, Lester Adkins, Eugene Walker, Douglas Walker and one sister, Sudie Myers McDaniel.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Kauffelt officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens with Military Honors performed by American Legion Post 1097 Honor Guard.
The family will be receiving friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Barker Funeral Home.

Amy Hinson-Harrell
POWHATAN, Va. - Amy Catherine Hinson-Harrell, 44, of Powhatan, passed away March 19, 2001, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Harrell; her parents, Gilmer and Bettie Hinson; a sister, Martha Jean Hinson of Danville; one niece, Amy Elizabeth Adkins; one nephew, Andrew James Adkins, both of Danville; and one special aunt, Violet P. Mackie of Jonesville, N.C. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Manakin Episcopal Church, 985 Huguenot Trail. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or donations made to Sanctuaries Unique Garden Center [(804) 897-0688] towards a memorial planting for Amy.
Golden Jones
CHATHAM, Va. - Golden O. Jones, 79, of 1540 Banister Road, Chatham, died Sunday, March 18, 2001 at the residence.
Born April 27, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Douglas Echols and Mary Carter Echols.
She was married
to Randolph Jones, who predeceased her. She worked as a cafeteria worker for Pittsylvania County Schools and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Douglas Randolph Jr. of Danville, Raymond Jones of Miami, Fla., Dennis Jones of Danville, Glen Jones of Dumfries; three daughters, Lena E. Jones of the residence, Margie Butler of Clinton, Md., Rena Jones of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two brothers, Norvil Echols of Callands, Maynard Noble Echols of Danville; two sisters, Hortense Carter of Dry Fork, Beryl Osborne of Chester, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at White Oak Baptist Church with Pastor Edward L. Polk officiating. Interment
will follow at Greater Triumph Baptist Church cemetery. Viewing will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home.

Tyler Brown
DANVILLE, Va. - Tyler Andrew "Tab" Brown, 28, of 568 Ingram Street, Danville, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C.
Born Aug. 2, 1972 in Nurenburg, Germany, he was the son of Tyler Vann Brown and Brenda Hite Brown who survive.
He was involved with Little League Baseball and Optimist Basketball and was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Danville. He worked as a machine operator at Manasha Corp.
Survivors, in addition to his parents of the residence, include paternal grandparents, Jeanette Sellers and Leftridge V. Brown of Danville.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Randall Sellers and maternal grandmother, Gracie W. Hite.
The funeral will be held 4 p.m. Friday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3090 North Main Street, Danville with the Revs. Randy Duncan and Ronald W. Mateer officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date.
The family will be receiving friends 2-4 p.m. Friday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and at other times at the residence of Jeanete Sellers, 126 Sellers Road.

Eldress Carter
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Eldress Farmer Carter, 77, of 709 Maple Avenue, South Boston, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at the residence.
Born Oct. 4, 1923 in Chatham, she was the the daughter of Jack David Farmer and Daisy Newby Farmer. She was a homemaker and member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth C. Williams of South Boston, Elaine C. Mabe of Pelham, N.C., Dorothy Carter of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Halifax Memorial Gardens, Halifax Road, South Boston, with the Rev. Ken Williams officiating.

Eleanor Clement
DANVILLE, Va. - Eleanor McLaughlin Clement, 87, of 108 Fenton Place, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 2, 1913 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Charles M. McLaughlin and Ola Terry McLaughlin.
She was married
May 30, 1942 to James William Clement, who survives. She was educated in local schools and attended Averett College. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Aldersgate Choir for many years.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, James W. Clement Jr. of Louisburg, N.C.; two daughters, Terry C. Mouser of Louisville, Ky., Judith C. Kruppa of Oak Ridge, N.J.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Bennett officiating. Interment
will be private at Mountain View cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at the residence.

Frizzell Coleman
HURT, Va. - Frizzell Coleman, 76, of 3961 Roark Mill Road, Hurt, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born Feb. 2, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Jessie and Nannie Coleman.
He was married
to Eva Reynolds Coleman, who predeceased him. He worked for Klopman Mills until his retirement and was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Male Coleman of New Jersey and godfather, Knohia Wilson of Gretna.
He was predeceased, in addition to his wife and parents, by one brother, James Coleman.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy L. Tarpley officiating. Interment
will follow at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Clifton Covington Sr.
DANVILLE, Va. - Clifton Covington Sr., 70, of 409 Chestnut Street, Danville, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 24, 1930 in Danville, he was the son of Robert Brock and Bessie Covington.
He worked for Bassett Furniture Company until his retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Clifton Covington Jr. and Timothy Covington, both of Danville.

Katie Craft
DANVILLE, Va. - Katie Motley Craft, 90, of 142 Shady Lane, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center after five weeks in the hospital.
Born April 20, 1910 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of George Gammon and Mollie Bett Shumate Gammon.
She was married
to Claude Burton Motley, who predeceased her, and she later married
William T. Craft who also predeceased her. She lived most of her life in Danville where she was a homemaker and member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, William D. Motley and David L. Motley, both of Danville; three daughters, Margie Hyler of Bachelors Hall, Minnie Motley Bundrick of Havre De Grace, Md., Joyce Ann English of Anderson, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, by three sons, Claude Burton Motley Jr, Jack Thomas Motley, Jerry Wayne Motley and one daughter, Barbara Ann Motley.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Newton officiating. Interment
will follow at Schoolfield cemetery.

Nathan Davis Sr.
DANVILLE, Va. - Nathan Hensley Davis Sr., 75, of 1677 Afton Road, died Monday, March 26, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center after several weeks of declining health.
Born Oct. 9, 1925 in Keeling, he was the son of James Nathan Davis and Lessie Milam Davis.
He was married
July 6, 1948 to Lillie May Hall Davis, who survives. He was a self employed flooring contractor, having owned and operated Davis & Davis Floor covering for many years. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Joseph W. “Joe” Davis of Danville, Nathan H. “N.H.” Davis Jr. of Danville; daughter-in-law, Rosie R. Davis of Danville; son Larry M. Davis of Danville; daughter-in-law, Penny R. Davis of Danville; three sisters, Margaret H. Henderson of Keeling, Mamie D. Christenbury of Durham, N.C., Martha D. Satterfield of South Boston; one grandson, Nathan “Eric” Davis of Danville.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by three brothers, Thomas W. Davis, Jessie D. Davis, Robert H. Davis and three sisters, Myrtle D. Lewis, Maggie D. Compton and Mildred D. Lewis.
The graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Don Davidson and Elder Danny Parker officiating.
The family will be receiving friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barker Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1677 Afton Road.
