RINGGOLD, Va. - Perman Walters, 79, of 1037 Milton Highway died Monday, April 16, 2001, at the residence.
Born Dec. 9, 1921, he was the son of Isaiah and Mattie Lee Walters.
He was a native of Pittsylvania County and attended Pittsylvania County public schools.
He was a member of Sunny Level Baptist Church in Ringgold.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan W. Brandon of Milton, N.C.; two sisters, Lucille Elie of Franklinville, N.J., and Georgia Hughes of Philadelphia; one brother, John Walters of Danville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunny Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Ferguson officiating. Interment
will follow at Floral Hill Memory Gardens.
Viewing was held 12-8 p.m. Friday at Plenty Funeral Home Chapel.

Lloyd Warner
HOUSTON, Texas - Lloyd Calvin Warner, 49, of 10401 Old Bammel North Houston Road, Apt. 305, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Houston Northwest Medical Center of natural causes.
Born May 18, 1951, in Danville, Va., he was the son of Henry Warner and Lucille Swann Warner.
He was married
Jan. 20, 1976, to Edwina Gale Witcher Warner, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of Houston, include two sons, Damon Corey Warner and Demerrius Jeffries, both of Houston; four sisters, Margaret Saunders, Vivian Hyman, Carolyn Jacobs and Valeria Warner, all of Houston, and two brothers, Marvin Warner and Richard Warner, both of Houston.
The funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary with Aaron Mark Jones officiating. Interment
will follow at Paradise South cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends Thursday at the Rose Chapel of Mabrie Memorial Mortuary.

Donald Woods
DANVILLE, Va. - Donald Edward Woods, 57, of 127 Burwood Place, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 19, 1943, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Zack Woods and Ollie Dickerson Woods.
He was married
to Betty Ferrell, who survives. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Plant for 27 years before his disability.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Ladearie G. Woods and Erica T. Woods, both of Danville, and Swatzee Van Woods of the residence; three sons, Donald E. Woods Jr. of Butner, N.C., Reginald Lee Woods of Danville and Anthony Q. Woods of Chesapeake; one sister, Ollie Terry of Danville; and four brothers, Arthur Woods, Joseph Woods, Leroy Woods and Larry Woods, all of Danville.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Guildfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Vann officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Willie Adams
DANVILLE, Va. - Willie Adams, 80, of 651 North Ridge St., died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 3, 1921, in Danville, he was a son of Robert Adams and Vinnie Adams.
He was married
to Geraldine Peatross Adams, who survives. He was a butcher for Corn Valley Meat Packers and A&P Grocery Store until his retirement. He was also employed with the Danville Public School system and Belk. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Loyal Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board, Men’s Choir and as an honorary trustee.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of the residence, include one son, James W. Adams Sr. of Danville; one daughter, Theresa A. Adams of Danville; one grandson and one great-grandchild.|
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Loyal Baptist Church. Interment
will follow at Oak Hill cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 29.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Dorothy Bailey
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Dorothy Daniel Bailey, 86, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Woodview.
Born Nov. 11, 1914, she was the daughter of Curry Newton Daniel and Sally Reid Terry Daniel.
She was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by two brothers, Odell Daniel and Norman Daniel Sr.
The graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home.

Richard Barber
DANVILLE, Va. - Richard Jennings Barber, 76, of 806 Hughes St., died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the residence.
Born Oct. 17, 1924, in Pelham, N.C., he was a son of Thomas Madison Barber and Danie Gauldin Barber.
He was first married
to Hazel Cobb Barber, who predeceased him September 1988, and later married
Emphress Shelton Barber, who survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and spent a number of years living in the West Fork community of Pittsylvania County. He lived in Danville for the past 30 years, where he retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1986. He was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of the residence, include two daughters, Margaret Barber Lewis of Danville and Brenda Barber Eason of Orange Park, Fla.; one step-daughter, Nancy Shelton Clark of Danville; three sisters, Juanita Pickeral and Barbara Ball, both of Danville, and Ruth Wech of Suffolk; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Ellison and the Rev. Tim Nuckles officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors being performed by American Legion Dan River Post No. 1097 Honor Guard.

DANVILLE, Va. - Elizabeth Gilbert Bradner died Wednesday April 25, 2001 at the Roman Eagle Nursing Home in Danville, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hansford Bradner in 1987, and her daughter, Anne Bradner Gammon in 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Bradner Trotter and her husband Wesley of High Point, N.C. In addition she is survived by two grandchildren, Wesley Asbury Trotter, III of Greensboro, N.C. and Elizabeth Elaine Trotter Foley of Richmond, Va. and three great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday.

ALEXANDRIA, Va.- Lottie Brandon, 75, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in Alexandria.
Born Feb. 14, 1926, she was the daughter of Thomas and Katie Garland.
She was married
to Haywood Brandon, who predeceased her. She was a native of Milton, N.C. and attended the public schools of North Carolina and Virginia. She was a member of the Greater Brandon Chapel Baptist Church in Alton.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Garland of Washington, D.C. and Bernice Harris of Alexandria; one son, the Rev. Norman Brandon of Alton; four sisters, Mary Brandon of Milton, N.C., Connie Medley of Philadelphia, Quanita Garland of South Boston and Anna Bellamy of Durham, N.C.; one brother, Amos Garland of Camden, N.J.; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Brandon Chapel Baptist Church in Alton, with the Rev. Dr. H.R. Surgeon officiating. Interment
will follow at the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 12-5 p.m. Friday at Plenty Funeral Home Chapel. A wake will follow from 7-8 p.m. at Greater Brandon Chapel Baptist Church.

Estelle Brown
DANVILLE, Va. - Estelle Colvard Brown, 79, formerly of Kentuck Road, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home where she had been a resident since August 2000.
Born Oct. 28, 1921, in Danville, she was the daughter of William T. Colvard and Annie Leary Colvard.
She was married
to William Stanley Brown, who predeceased her Feb. 25, 1974. She lived most of her life in Danville where she operated a home for the elderly and later was a sitter. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Coffey of Ruffin, N.C. and William Stanley Brown of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; one daughter, Ginger Robertson of Pelham, N.C.; one sister, Virginia Shelhorse of Linwood, N.C. and three grandsons.
The graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Hines officiating.
The family will be receiving friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Swicegood Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Ginger Robertson, 10875 N.C. 700, Pelham, in Rockingham County, N.C.

DANVILLE, Va. - Nancy Gibson Davis, 64, of 4690 South Boston Highway, formerly of the Mountain Hill community, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the residence.
Born March 4, 1937, in Danville, she was the daughter of Woodrow Thomas Gibson and Hazel Traylor Gibson Oliver.
She was married
to Robert K. Davis of Danville. She was a member of Williamson Memorial Presbyterian Church and an employee of Stratford Inn for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Soliz of Ringgold, Debra Fugate of Danville and Teresa Evans of Pelham, N.C.; one son, Ronnie Dodd of Ringgold; one sister, JoAnn Manuel of Danville; two brothers, Tommy Gibson and Charles Gibson, both of Ringgold; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Elbert Williamson officiating. Interment
will follow at Floral Hills Memory Garden.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alma McAdams Douglas, 88, died April 24, 2001.
She was married
to Frank W. Douglas, who survives. She was a native of Tennessee and a longtime resident of Birmingham and Miami, Fla. She was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of Birmingham, include one daughter, Terry Ann Smith of Birmingham, and one granddaughter.
The memorial service will be held at a later date.
