Annie Fields
DANVILLE, Va. - Anne “Annie” Hudgins Fields, age 98, formerly of 805 Grove Street, Danville, died Saturday afternoon, May 5, 2001, in the Riverside Health Care Center.
She was born in Danville, Va. on April 25, 1903, a daughter of Walter Hudgins and Mary Stanley Hudgins.
She was married
to Louie A. Fields, Sr. who predeceased her in 1975. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church and was retired from Dan River, Inc. where she had worked in the sewing room.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Fields Shelton and son-in-law, Gus Shelton of Hamlet, N.C.; a brother, Johnnie Hudgins of Danville; three grandchildren, Vanessa S. Stolen of Charlotte, N.C., Gus B. Shelton, III of Salisbury, N.C. and Louie A. Fields, III of Canada; and two great-grandchildren, Shara Shelton of Hamlet, N.C. and Shelia Fields of Canada, also a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son, Louie Arnold Fields, Jr.; three brothers, Raymond Hudgins, Russell Hudgins and Ivey Hudgins all of Danville; and three sisters, Frances Wood, Dorothy Shelhorse of Danville and Ollie Roach of Manessa, Va.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Gary Milstead and the Rev. John Martin.
Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Inez Hangelia
DANVILLE, Va. - Inez White Hangelia, 74, of 41 Stokesland Ave., died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center after one year of declining health.
Born April 19, 1927, in Danville, she was the daughter of Ernest T. White and Ruby Womack White.
She was married
to Michael Hangelia, who survives. She lived in Danville most of her life and was a member of Schoolfield United Methodist Church and the American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Auxiliary. She was one of the founding members of the Schoolfield High School Reunion Committee.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of the residence, include one son, Mickey Hangelia of Danville and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by two brothers, Maynard White and Carol White.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. M. Dana Hunt officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Myrene Hawkins
CHATHAM, Va. - Myrene Nostrandt Hawkins, 75, of 357 Catawba Drive, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 3, 1926, in Danville, she was the daughter of John Earl Nostrandt and Myrtle Poole Nostrandt.
She was married
to James W. Hawkins Jr., who predeceased her in 1987. She was retired from Coachman Cleaners and was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda H. Lacks of Chatham and Evelyn H. Bryant of Ringgold; one son, Wayne Hawkins of Blairs; one sister, Anne N. Griffin of Danville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Nestor officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.

John Hedrick
CHATHAM, Va. - John Taff "Jack" Hedrick age 91 of 449 Walker Well Road Chatham, Virginia died Tuesday May 1, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Hedrick was the son of the late John M. Hedrick and Nellie Yeatts Hedrick. He was predeceased by his wife Selma Haskins Hedrick. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws, Daniel and Sue Hedrick of Chatham, Junior Monroe and Gladys Hedrick of Renan. Survivors also include six grandchildren, Barbara H. Reynolds of Penhook, Marian Hedrick Gleber and Rebecca Crawley, of Chatham, Glenn Hedrick of Gretna and Yvonne Yeatts, of Dry Fork, and James Hedrick, of Gretna. Seven great-grandchildren, Bobbie Jo and Julie Hedrick, Brandon and Matthew Hedrick, Keegan and Thomas Crawley, and Tiffany Yeatts, and one great-great-granddaughter, Hailey Ryan Hedrick. He was predeceased by one sister and two brothers Lila H. Adkins, Mayard Hedrick and Ralph Hedrick. He was one of the oldest members of Green Bay Christian Church and a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday May 3, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel by Frank Fuller, Minister and Mr. Donald Osborne. Interment
will be in the Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Wednesday May 2, 2001 at Scott Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of his son Daniel Hedrick 449 Walker Well Road Chatham, VA. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lawrence Henderson
HALIFAX, Va. - Lawrence Booker Henderson, 74, of 1206 Grubby Road, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born June 2, 1926, in Halifax County, he was the son of William Kinsloving Henderson and Annie Kate Hastings Henderson.
He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Halifax.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Brahe of Halifax.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Booher officiating. Interment
will follow at the church cemetery.

Stella Henderson
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. -Stella Rebecca Henderson, 95, of 1146 North Main St., died May 5, 2001, at the residence.
Born Oct. 12, 1905, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Charlie Edward Henderson and Nannie Sue Crowder Henderson.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an employee of Raylass Department Store in South Boston until her retirement.
Survivors include one brother, Charlie E. Henderson of South Boston and one half-brother, L.B. Shields of South Boston.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Bob Fox and the Rev. Rudolph Jacobs officiating. Interment
will follow at Oak Ridge cemetery.

Edward Irby
HALIFAX, Va. - Edward Ray Irby, 73, of 116 Hedgerow Drive, died May 6, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born April 13, 1928, in Halifax County, he was the son of James Clarence Irby and Elizabeth Walker Irby.
He was married
to Janice Wilkerson Irby, who survives. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 8. He was a retired Civilian Systems Analyst with the United States Department of the Navy.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of Halifax, include one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Vause of Great Mills, Md.; one son, Edward Todd Irby of Waldorf, Md.; one granddaughter; one sister, Frances I. Roller of Mt. Laurel and three brothers, Carroll Irby of Richmond, Kenneth Irby of South Boston and John Wayne Irby of Mt. Laruel.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by one brother, Linwood Irby.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Martin officiating. Interment
will follow at Oak Ridge cemetery with military rites.

Anderson Keen
GRETNA, Va. - Anderson David Keen, 71, of 5944 Telegraph Road, died Friday, May 5, 2001 at his residence.
Born Jan. 7, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of John Thomas Keen and Gracie Bailess Keen.
He was an Army veteran and a former employee of John Jacobs Surveying.
Survivors include four brothers, Clarence E. Kenn, John J. Keen, O. Pate Keen and Oadie R. Keen Sr., all of Danville; one sister, Wade Barbour of Cowan, W.Va.
He was predeceased by a sister, Esther Keen; three brothers, Thomas Keen, Russell Keen, and C.B. "Buck" Keen.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at Colbert-Moran Chapel with the Rev. Gene Ashworth officiating.
Interment with Military Honors by VFW Altavista Post #4165 and DAV Chapter #46 will follow at the Keen Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

Virginia MacDougall
ARCADIA, Calif. - Virginia M. MacDougall, of 1134, Apt. 5, West Huntington Drive, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, in Arcadia.
She was the daughter of Ralph Carden and Lena Carden.
She was married
to George MacDougall, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of the residence, include one brother, Warren F. Carden of Danville.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by three brothers, Bruce Carden, Robert Carden and Ralph Carden.
The graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. Cleo Hundley officiating.

DRY FORK, Va. - Clara Marie Mayo, 83, of 288 Tributary Road, died Monday, April 30, 2001, at the residence.
Born March 30, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Robert Mayo and Estelle Jones Mayo.
She worked for Dan River Inc. for 37 years before her retirement.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Waller of the residence, Shirley A. Lessey of Oxon Hill, Md., Jackeline Mayo of Washington, D.C. and Teva Covington of Brentwood, Md; two sons, Linwood O. Mayo of Fort Worth, Texas and Dexter L. Mayo of Norfolk and one sister, Ruth M. Waller of Danville.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert L. Divens Jr. officiating. Interment
will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
