Clifton ‘Click’ Dalton
GRETNA, Va. - Clifton Mitchell "Click" Dalton, 82, of 418 North Main St., died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 10, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Ollie David Dalton and Lula Jones Dalton.
He was married
to Lucille Collins Dalton, who survives. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired building contractor.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of the residence, include two sons, Ted Dalton and Donnie D. Dalton, both of Gretna; two daughters, Brenda Dalton Lynch and Susan Dalton McMillan, both of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Lester Dalton of Gretna; three sisters, Alice Gatewood of Danville, Eva Woodson of Lynchburg and Jerelene Dalton of Gretna; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by two brothers, Roy Dalton and M.T. Dalton and stepmother, Rosa Dalton.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Colbert-Moran Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Graves and the Rev. Bert Johnson officiating. Interment
will follow at Mill Creek Baptist Church cemetery with military honors performed by V.F.W. Post 4165 and D.A.V. Chapter 46.

Harold T. Dillon
DANVILLE, Va. - Harold T. Dillon, 81, of 142 Hartford Street, died Monday, May 21, 2001 at Riverside Healthcare Center.
Mr. Dillon was born on October 3, 1919 in Danville the son of William George Dillon and Sallie Miller Dillon.
He was married
October 12, 1940 to Theo M. Dillon his wife of 60 years who survives at the residence.
Mr. Dillon was a mail carrier for over thirty years delivering to the Grove Park and Southwyk Farms Communities.
He was a member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church where he taught the Men’s Bible Class for twenty one years. He also served on the Administrative Board and was an Honorary Trustee.
Besides his wife of the residence Mr. Dillon is survived by, one daughter Janet Dillon Hankins and her husband, Bill Hankins of Danville; one sister, Virginia Dillon Perry of Danville; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Hankins Kendrick of Danville and Sherri D. Hankins of Boston, Mass.
He was predeceased by one sister, Mildred Dillon Hanks and one brother Frank S. Dillon.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2001, 12:00 noon at Townes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gary Milstead will be conducting the services. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, May 23, 2001, 7:00-8:30 P.M. at Townes Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the residence at 142 Hartford Street.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew or the Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Geraldine Dix
DANVILLE, Va. - Geraldine Burnett Dix, of Jeanette Drive, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Duke Medical Center.
Born January 23, 1915 in Caswell County, N.C., she was the daughter of Walter Burnett and Jenny Clay Burnett.
She was married
to Nathaniel Theodore Dix on Jan. 30, 1939. She was a member of the Church of Truth. She was a member of the Floral Hills Senior Citizens Club. She lived most of her life in Danville, except for twenty-three years in Chantilly and Alexandria, Va. She was a homemaker.
Survivors in addition to her husband include one daughter, Linda Dix Clifft of Bolivar, Tenn; three sisters, Katherine B. Dix of Danville, Evelyn B. Loftis of Danville, Eunice B. Prevette of Alton, Va. and one granddaughter.
She was predeceased by a son, Larry Thomas Dix.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Ira Yeatts officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Monday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times at the residence.

Mary Duffey
RANDOPLH, Va. - Mary Wade Duffey, 85, of 9191 Scuffletown Road, died May 19, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born in Halifax County, December 9, 1915, she was the daughter of Addie Wade and Ida Lacks Wade.
She was married
to Berkley Grey Duffey. She was a member of Mt. Laurel United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband include, one daughter, Brenda D. Davis, of Scottsburg, Va.; one brother, Tommy Wade of Clover, Va.; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one step-grandson.
She was predeceased in death by two brothers Larnie Wade and Roy Wade; two daughters, Jean Puryear Ingram, Sylvia East; two sons Carl Burton Duffey and Bernard Grey Duffey; and one grandson.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Woodland cemetery in Chase City, Va. with the Rev. Richard Saunders officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

Lillian Ferguson
DANVILLE, Va. - Lillian Gracie Stephens Ferguson, 73, of 288 Bellmeade Court, died Saturday, May 26, 2001.
Born May 21, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Artie Stephens and Gracie Thomas Stephens.
She was married
to George J. Ferguson, who survives. She was a member of the usher board, senior choir, friendship club, Camp Grove neighborhood watch and was a pastor aid. She worked for the Danville Public School system and retired from P. Lorillard in Danville.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Diane Stephens Ferguson of Surf Beach, S.C. and Trudie Logan of Bedford, Texas; one son, Adrian Ferguson of Danville; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Johnson officiating. Interment
will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

Vaughan Ford
FLORENCE, S.C. - Vaughan N. Ford, 69, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Carolina Systems Hospital in Florence.
Born June 25, 1931, in Albemarle County, Va., he was the son of Frances Ford, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to his mother of South Boston, Va., include one sister, Juanita Anderson of Esmont, Va. and one brother, Rev. Dr. Roger Ford of South Boston, Va.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church in Esmont, Va. with the Rev. H.L. Long officiating. Interment
will follow at the church cemetery.

CHATHAM, Va. - Jerry Coleman Foust, 46, of Hollywood Road, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident.
Born in Altavista, he was the son of John Coleman Foust and Paulina Watson Foust, who survive.
He served in the United States Navy and worked in construction.
Survivors, in addition to his parents of Chatham, include one sister, Judy Diane Foust Rowland of Gretna.
The memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Chatham.

Elmer Fugate
DANVILLE, Va. - Elmer Hascue Fugate, 88, formerly of 151 Sunset Place, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born March 26, 1913, in Kyles Ford, Tenn., he was the son of Harrison Fugate and Mary Johnson Fugate.
He was married
to Margaret Collingsworth Fugate, who predeceased him. He lived in Danville for the past 46 years and was of the Baptist faith. He worked as a fork lift operator in the finishing department of Dan River Mills for 20 years before his retirement at the age of 62. He was a former member of Holland Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Jack Fugate of Morristown, Tenn., Gene Fugate and Jimmy Fugate, both of Brosville; one daughter, Lois Laws of Danville; one sister, Mary Jane Fugate of Kingsport, Tenn.; four brothers, Cecil Fugate, Harrison Fugate and Clay Fugate, all of Churchill, Tenn. and Willie Fugate of Tazwell, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Greeson and the Rev. George Riggins officiating. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

Katherine Glickman
DANVILLE, Va. - Katherine Tokayer Glickman, 72, of 134 Wimbish Place, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Duke University Medical Center.
Born Jan. 30, 1929, in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of Max and Herta Tokayer.
She was married
to Norman Glickman, who predeceased her in 1999. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Washburn of Danville; two sons, Richard Davis of Wayne, N.J. and Kenneth Davis of Parsippany, N.J.; one stepson, James Glickman of Harrington Park, N.J. and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Townes Funeral Home with the Rev. Becky Powell officiating.

Bettie Green
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Bettie Jean Green, 68, of South Hill Road, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born May 29, 1932, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Edward and Pearl Cook Clark.
She was married
to Jack Green, who survives. She attended Danville schools and sold mobile homes in the Victor and Farmington area for a number of years before her retirement.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of Canandaigua, include one daughter, Linda Heusler of Doylestown, Pa.; two sons, Timothy Green of Macedon and Daniel Green of Kodiak, Alaska; 8 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and two sisters, Norma Parrish and Jacqueline Hall, both of Danville, Va.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by two brothers, Clyde Clark and Edward Clark, both of Danville, Va.
The memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy and Son Funeral Home, South Ave., Bloomfield.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
