Beulah Gunn

DANVILLE, Va. - Beulah Lee Gunn, 77, of 213 Broadnax St. died Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 12, 1923, in Danville, she was a daughter of Reuben Loundermon and Beulah A. Loundermon.
She was a technician for the Danville Regional Medical Center operating room. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, American Legion Post # 29 Auxilary and order of Eastern Star # 75.
Survivors include two sons, Grant Gunn Jr. and James E. Gunn, both of Danville; one daughter Joyce G. Garvin of Gibsonville, N.C.; one Brother Calvin Loundermon of Danville; one sister, Marion Smith of Danville and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Bridgeforth officiating. Interment icon will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.
A viewing will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Brenda Hauser

DANVILLE, Va. - Brenda Hardy Hauser, 55, of 317 Hawthorne Drive, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born September 29, 1946, in Danville, she was the daughter of Howard S. Hardy and Emma Evans Hardy.
She was formerly married to John Hauser Jr., who survives. She owned and operated Unique Domain. She was a member of I.D.S.
Survivors, in addition to her former husband, include two sons, J.C. Hauser of Providence, N.C. and John Hauser of Danville; one sister, Linda Rogers of Danville; and one step-granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Michael Kent and the Rev. Gilmer Setliff officiating. A private graveside service will follow.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Townes Funeral Home.

Virgie Hedrick

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -Virgie Kirks Hedrick, 81, of Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Martinsville, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.
Born April 3, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Charles Daniel Kirks and Annie Herndon Kirks.
She was married to Grover Harvey Hedrick, who predeceased her. She was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy H. Payne of Stuart, Helen Hedrick Triplett and Cathy Walker-Taylor, both of Charlottesville; four sons, James Thomas Hedrick of Martinsville, Charles Daniel Hedrick and Elton Hedrick, both of Axton, and Paul Hedrick; 23 Granchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by two sons, Harvey Lynwood Hedrick and Robert Vincent Hedrick; one half-sister, Lola Kirks, and four brothers, Luther, Otis, Leslie, and Earnest Kirks.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with Misister J.D. Hunt III and Minister Dean Ashby officiating. Interment icon will follow at Hedrick Family cemetery, Museville.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Norris Funeral Services and at other times at the residence of Charles D. Hedrick, 1085 Still Meadow Road, Axton.
Norris Funeral Services Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Marvin Hutchinson

DANVILLE, Va. - Marvin Kirk Hutchinson, 71, of 2295 Afton Road, died Friday, July 20, 2001 at the residence.
Born Jan. 31, 1930, he was a son of Marshall Hutchinson and Eleanor Shirley Hutchinson.
He was married to Peggy Haymaker Hutchinson, who survives. He was a member of the National Guard in the 1950s. He was a retired Kitchen Cabinet Industries salesman. He was a member and past state director of the Lion’s Club. He was an active member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, Penn. He belonged to the administrative board, the choir and the search committee for pastors and was a youth counselor.
Surviviors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Martha Heffinger and Maggie Gregory, both of Danville, and Mimi Gundel of Lancaster, Penn.; one son, H. Mark Hutchinson of Lancastor, Penn; two sisters, Elinor Kusin of Suitland, Md. and Betty Hutchinson of Front Royal; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by one brother, Kenneth E. Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Randy Duncan. Interment icon will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Catherine Martin

CALLANDS, Va. - Catherine Motley Martin, 71, of 2566 Triangle School Road, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Martinsville.
Born Feb. 8, 1930, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of John Henry Motley and Daisy Campbell Motley.
She was married to Clinton Frances Martin, who predeceased her.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte M. Worrell of Callands and Cathy M. Hoskins of Chatham; three sons, Harry Glen Martin of Franklin County, Terry Lee Martin of Callands and Douglas Wayne Martin of Martinsville; three sisters, Doris M. Grindstaff of Franklin County, Mary Law of West Virginia and Bertha Mann of Illinois; five brothers, Calvin Motley, Wayne Motley, Gerald Motley and Alton Motley, all of Franklin County and George Booth Motley of Rocky Mount; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by one son, Donnie C. Martin.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Christian Tabernacle Church with Pastor Roy Parker and Pastor Lynwood Daniel officiating. Interment icon will follow at Martin Family cemetery in Callands.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Tabernacle Church and other times at the residence of Charlotte Worrell, 2564 Triangle School Road in Callands.

Wanda McBride

ALTON, Va. - Wanda Link McDowell Wells McBride, 57, of 6111 Cluster Springs Road, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Sept. 29, 1943, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Lonnie L. Link and Hazel S. Link, who survive.
She was married to Ronnie Wells, who predeceased her, and Robert L. “Bob” McBride, who survives. She was a retired taxidermist and was a member of Alton Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her parents of Alton and husband of Buffalo Junction, include two sons, Vincent McDowell of Charlotte, N.C., and Todd E. McDowell of South Boston; one stepson, Stan McBride of Pikeville, N.C.; five sisters, Hilda Barton of Powhatan, Vera Chase of Virginia Beach, Rachel Elliott, Lana Jackson and Vonnie Reaves, all of Alton; one brother, Harold Link of Richmond, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alton Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Ellenburg officiating. Interment icon will follow at Alton Baptist Church cemetery on Harmony Road.
The family will receive friends 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Lonnie Link, 6142 Cluster Springs Road. The McBride family will receive friends 7:30-9 p.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Robert McBride, 114 Indian Trail in Buffalo Junction.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Halifax County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 875, South Boston, VA 24592.

Nancy Moore

DANVILLE, Va. - Nancy Rowland Moore, 66, of 120 Old Piney Forest Road, died on July 17, 2001 at her residence after declining health for the past 2 months.
Born on June 20, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Patrick Henry Rowland and the late Lelia Ashworth Rowland.
Mrs. Moore had lived all of her life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. She was employed by Dan River Inc., where she worked in the Shipping Department as mail order clerk. Mrs. Moore was a member of Williamson Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Sunday School and she was a choir member.
Survivors include Daughters Judy M. McGregor of Danville, Va. and JoAnn M. Hutson of Dry Fork, Va.; Sisters Louise R. Wilson of Roanoke, Va., Francis R. Matkins of Dallas, Tx., Evelyn R. Barrett of Danville, Va. and Florence R. Lewis of Danville, Va.; Brothers Robert Rowland of Las Gatas, Calif., Charlie Rowland of Orlando, Fla. and Patrick Rowland Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; 2 Grandsons -William Moore & Max McGregor and 1 Great Granddaughter - Madyson Jordon.
She was predeceased by 2 Sisters - Kathryn R. Simpson & Inez Rowland and 1 Brother -Jack Rowland.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 20th at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Reverend Phillip J.B. Pogue. Interment icon will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and at other times at the residence of her daughter Judy M. McGregor, 220 Sharon Lane, Danville, Virginia.

Irene Powell

DANVILLE, Va. - Irene Durham Powell, 79, of 60 Garland St., died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 20, 1922, in Rockingham, N.C., she was the daughter of Johnny Durham and Jeannie Strader Durham.
She was married to Glenn Lee Powell, who predeceased her July 1962. She lived in Danville since 1942 after spending her early years in Reidsville, N.C. She retired from Dan River Inc. in 1984 and was a member of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mildred D. Ware of Reidsville, N.C.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Rev. James M. McGhee officiating. Interment icon will follow at Leemont cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Troy Powell

NATHALIE, Va. - Troy Lee Powell, 67, of 1249 Pierce Trail, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Jan. 2, 1934, in Halifax County, he was the son of James “Genie” Powell and Mary Conner Powell.
He was married to Shelby W. Powell, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of Nathalie, include one son, Troy Powell of South Boston; four daughters, Barbara Carmichael of Nathalie, Mary Jane Cole of South Boston, Sandra P. Phillips of South Boston and Delores Stump of Scottsburg; six grandchildren; three brothers, Howard Powell of Nathalie, Earl Powell of Nathalie and Albert Powell of South Boston and four sisters, Elizabeth Shook of Keysville, Shirley Seamster of Burkeville, Alice Jones of Red Oak and Louise Roberts of Nathalie.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by one sister, Ida Powell and one brother, Eugene Powell.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Watts and the Rev. Jason Murray officiating. Interment icon will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department or Halifax County Cancer Association.

Dorothy Pritchett

DANVILLE, Va. - Dorothy Pritchett, 52, of 335 Audubon Drive, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the residence.
Born Feb. 9, 1949, in Danville, she was a daughter of Lucy Adams Wimbush, who survives, and Frizzell Wimbush Sr.
She was married to Charles Pritchett, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of the residence and mother of Danville, include one daughter, Yolanda Wimbush of Danville; one son, Marvin Wimbush of Danville; two sisters, Emily Wimbush of Danville and Shirley Crosby of Blairs; six brothers, Frizzell Wimbush Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Herman Wimbush, Arthur Wimbush, Dennis Wimbush, Donald Wimbush and Clifton Wimbush, all of Danville.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Williamson officiating. Interment icon will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Lucy Wimbush, 217 Lansdale Drive.
Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
