An End and a Beginning
How lonely it must be to die.
So I sit beside you here,
holding your guiet hand in mine,
speaking in my silences,
telling you that I am here.
Don’t be afraid.
Does it avail?
Do you know that I am here?
Do you feel my hand?
What do I give to you,
or you to me?
Perhaps, still here, you’re on the other side,
And, I, not wanting you to go alone,
have touched the hem of your eternity.
