Brenda Lee Wooten, 38, died Sept. 16, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1961, in North Carolina. She was a high school graduate and a Metro Transit driver.
She is survived by her mother, Pearl of Greenville, N.C.; a daughter, Melisha Ann; a son, Ikeem Andre; a grandchild, Dajon Amnte; her sister, Peggy L.; her grandmother, Eva; her fiance, Keith Gaddy of Clinton; six aunts, Patricia Stevens of Baltimore, Margaret Nelson of Simpson, N.C., Lottie, Maggie Staton and Queenie Morgan, all of Greenville, N.C., and Kaletha Baker of Farmville, N.C.; and six uncles, Kelly Jr., James, Willie and Roy, all of Greenville, N.C., Hoover Nelson of Simpson, N.C., and Henry of Washington, D.C.
She was predeceased by her grandfather, Kelly Sr.
The viewing will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton. Service will be later this week in North Carolina.
Burial will be at Anderson Chapel M.B. Church cemetery, Macclesfield, N.C.
Amy May Ruck, 80, of Berwyn Heights
Amy May Ruck, 80, of Berwyn Heights, died March 6, 2001, at Laurel Regional Hospital.
She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Washington. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert A. Matthews of Virginia Beach, Va., and George E. of Sterling, Va.; a daughter, Susan M. Tester of College Park; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Edward Ruck.
Services will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at St. John's Episcopal Church, 11040 Baltimore Ave., Beltsville.
Burial will follow at Fort Lincoln cemetery in Brentwood.
Ruby Roby, 73, of College Park
Ruby T. Roby, 73, died April 8, 2001, at Laurel Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Clifton Forge, Va.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond and wife Rose Marie of Lothian, John F. Jr. and wife Karon of Chesapeake Beach, Rodney and wife Rebecca of Churchton and Randy and wife Julie of Laurel; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
She is preceeded in death by her husband of 51 years, John F.
Services were held April 10 at Raymond-Wood Funeral Home, Dunkirk, where funeral services were held the following day.
Shirley Walton Johnson, 68, of Upper Marlboro
Shirley Walton Johnson, 68, died Aug. 23 at her residence in Upper Marlboro.
She was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Grensburg, Pa. She was a retired cartographer with Defense Mapping Agency-NIMA, Bethesda. She was a graduate of Morgan State University, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Largo Community Church and the Alexandria Pinochle Club.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene M.; two sons, Eric and Jeffrey; a daughter, Karen; two sisters, Barbara J. Tyler and Vera W. Merritt; and four brothers, Vernon, Rodney, Carroll and Kline Walton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Thornton Funeral Home, Pomonkey, with prayers at 7:30, and again tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 at Largo Community Church, 1701 Enterprise Road, Mitchellville.
Burial will follow at Maryland Veterans cemetery, Cheltenham.
Raymond A. Kilroy, 78, of Temple Hills
Raymond A. Kilroy, 78, died Nov. 18 at his residence in Temple Hills.
He was born June 21, 1923, in Washington. He was a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. He served in the U.S. Navy GM3 from 1940 to 1945.
Survivors include three sons: John, Danny and Paul; two daughters: Patty and Regina; and a brother, Eugene.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Maryland Veterans cemetery Chapel, Cheltenham, followed by burial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
John M. Plater Sr., 67, of Crofton
John Melvin Plater Sr., 67, formerly of Springdale, died Dec. 12 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
He was born April 8, 1934, in Lanham.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator and enjoyed fishing and auto sports.
Survivors include two sons: John Jr. and David; three daughters: Andrea, Karen Rawlings and Diane Colbert; a sister, Frances P. Hawkins; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Alice Plater.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 12010 Woodmore Road, Mitchellville. Burial will follow at Maryland National Memorial Park Laurel. The repast will be at Seaton Memorial A.M.E. Church, 5507 Lincoln Ave., Lanham.

Norman C. Baer
Norman C. Baer, 82, of Hyattsville, died Feb. 10.
He was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Queens, N.Y. He retired in 1978, after working 32 years as a machinist at the Washington Post where he was a member of the E Streeters and 20 Year Clubs. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II at the rank of staff sergeant. He was a crew chief on P-47s and P-51s. He received the American Service Medal and was honorably discharged in 1945. He served as president, secretary and treasurer of the National Capital Area and the Maryland National Chapters of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He was a member of St. Jerome's Parish and volunteerd for more than 35 years as an usher, bingo worker and coach. Later in life he attended St. Ambrose where he also ushered. He also was an avid bowler and photographer, helped with Girl Scouts and the College Park Air Field Days.
Survivors include his three daughters: Linda Cady, Barbara (Bonnie) DeVaney, and Nancy Ann; a granddaughter, Kristin Elizabeth Cady; son-in-laws, Patrick Cady and Arthur DeVaney; and a dear friend, Isabelle Cormier.
Tyrone Emanuel Whitman Jr., 23, of Forestville
Tyrone Emanuel ``Tye" Whitman Jr., 23, died Friday in Forestville.
Born April 25, 1979 in Washington, D.C., he attended county schools and graduated in 1998. He worked for several companies, including Giant Foods, Pepsi and the Town of District Heights. He enjoyed swimming, football and basketball.
Survivors include his parents, Diane Plater Colbert and Tyrone Sr.; his stepfather, Paul Colbert Jr.; two children, India and Tyri; grandparents, Julius and Doris and Mary Alice Plater; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather, John Melvin Plater Sr.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, 3600 Brightseat Road, Landover.
Burial will follow at Maryland National Memorial Park cemetery in Laurel.

Wanda F. Moore, 78, book binder
Wanda Faye Moore, 78, of Rockville, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home.
Born Feb. 6, 1923, in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late James Rollie and Leta Cunningham Bennett. She was the wife of Herbert M. Moore for 60 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Jean Foxwell of Rockville and Robert Moore of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She worked for 28 years as a book binder at the Holiday-Tyler Printing Corp., formerly the Hayens-Lithograph Co., of Gaithersburg and Rockville.
She was a member of the Church of God in Rockville.
She was an avid reader and liked to travel.
Funeral services and internment will be private.
