Jack H. Littleton
WINCHESTER, Va. - Jack Harrison Littleton, 81, of Winchester, and formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester.
Born Sept. 11, 1917, in Clarke County, Va., he was the son of the late John Thomas and Daisy Catherine Longerbeam Littleton.
He had been employed as a farm worker.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by one sister, Gloria Sine of Leetown, Va.; two brothers, Joseph Littleton and Frank Littleton, both of Ranson, W.Va.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Geneva Clark, Vernie Henry, Anna Hutson and Kate Littleton; and three brothers, Theodore Littleton, Thomas Littleton, and Shirley Littleton.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
The Rev. Marcus Earp will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
Katherine L. Snider
DRAPER, Va. - Katherine L. Snider, 45, of Route 1, Box 241-A, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at University of Maryland Medical Systems, Baltimore.
Born July 20, 1953, in Pulaski, Va., she was the daughter of the late Albert Lee and Faye Elizabeth Manning Gravely.
She is survived by one daughter, Regina Lynn Snider of Waxhaw, N.C.; two sons, Curtis Dwayne Snider of Hiwassee, Va., and Adam Franklin Snider, of Pulaski; her former husband, Harold Franklin Snider of Pulaski; four sisters, Thelma Turpin of Hiwassee, Berry Shanks and Christine Gravely, both of Pulaski, and April Denise Gravely of Draper; three brothers, David Gravely of Draper, Kyle Gravely and Stuart Gravely, both of Pulaski; one half sister, Audrey Chinault of Pulaski; three half-brothers, Charles Rorrer of Charlottesville, Robin Rorrer of Georgia, and Coagle Gravely of Pulaski; her fiance, Brian Lutz of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Pulaski.
The Rev. Jeff Aikens will officiate.
Burial will be in Thornspring cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eva M. Stretchberry
WINCHESTER, Va. - Eva M. Stretchberry, 103, formerly of Winchester House, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury, Winchester.
Born July 14, 1895, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Sylvanus and Zilpha Sigler May.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph A. Stretchberry, in 1971.
She was a graduate of Fairmont State Normal School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Godfrey Miller Center; and Daughters of American Revolution.
She is survived by two daughters, Caroline Ebersole of Hagerstown and Betty Jo Hammer of Shenandoah, Va.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Robert M. Throckmorton Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hebron cemetery, Winchester.
The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Gertrude W. Malley
SUN CITY, Ariz. - Gertrude W. Twigg Malley, 88, of Sun City, and formerly of Hagerstown, died of lung disease on Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Sun Health Care Center, Sun City.
She was born Sept. 13, 1910, in Toms Brook, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall G. Twigg, in 1974.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and The Evening Star Hagerstown Chapter.
She is survived by two sons, Marshall Twigg Jr. of Wellington, Ala., and Gary Twigg of Arlington, Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Feb. 2.
Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Sunland Mortuary, Sun City.
Roy L. Lindsay
NANCY, Ky. - Roy Lamer Lindsay, 54, of Nancy, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Inwood, W.Va.
Born Jan. 25, 1945, in Covington, Va., he was the son of Thelma S. Drummond Lindsay of Martinsburg, W.Va., and the late Benton Luther.
He was a retired farmer.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a Baptist.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Deanna Lindsay; a son, Donnie Lee Lindsay of Bowling Green, Ky.; five sisters, Thelma Wright of Phoenix, Barbara Ann Dorr of Inwood, Brenda Fleming of Purcellville, Va., Lottie Lee Ballenger of Winchester, Va., and Peggy Jane Dillow of Ranson, W.Va.; and a grandchild.
Services will be private.
