WILLIAM ELMER COOPER
PULASKI - William Elmer Cooper, age 85 of 312 Pierce Avenue, Pulaski Born Feb. 16, 1918 in Max Meadows, Va., he was the son of the late Jesse James Cooper and Mary Marie Jones Cooper. He was also preceded in funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel with Rev. Judy Younce officiating. Cemetery, Sylvatus with full military honors conducted at the gravesite by the Pulaski V.F.W. Post #1184. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel. The family will be meeting at the home of his daughter, Donna Williams, 904 Gateway Drive, Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements for the family.

FLORENCE MAY MITCHELL
RADFORD - Florence May Mitchell, 90, death by her parents, Charles Henderson and Minnie Cullop Mitchell. Survivors include her sister, Frankie Clarke of Augusta, SC; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Round Hill died Saturday evening, May 17, 2003, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Regina L. and Daniel Dean, 1605 Claremont Court, Pulaski. He was death by his wife, Minnie Sutherland Patterson. Surviving are: his children and spouses, Connie S. and Lloyd Jennings, Dublin, Dreama D. and Ronnie Reynolds, Pulaski, Sandra K. and Rick Bryant, Madison, N. C., Regina L. and Daniel Dean, Pulaski, Steven W. Patterson, Pulaski and special friend, Ginger Larew, Dublin; special friend, Shirley Taylor, Pulaski; sisters, Pauline Thompson, Tazewell, Etta Mae Conley, Narrows, Bonnie Phillips, Draper; brother, Andrew Patterson, Hopewell, Va.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Delores Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Hufford born on Nov. 28, 1962 in Sandville, Ga. He attended the public schools of Pulaski County and graduated from Pulaski County High School. He attended First Baptist Church, Magazine Street, Pulaski. He was preceded in Cemetery. Penn’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

VIRGINIA “NELLIE” BAKER
BARREN SPRINGS - Virginia “Nellie” Baker, age 76, of Barren Springs, Va., born in Wythe County, daughter of the late Isaac Andrew York, Sr. and Willie Myrtle Carpenter York. She was preceded in Interment will follow in the James Snow passed away Thursday, May 15, 2003 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Robert Wayne Neal of Radford, one daughter, Lori James Brownell, Draper; step-mother, Hattie James, Dublin. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at West View passed away from this world into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father where she born on Oct. 29, 1937 in Pulaski the daughter of the late Willie Ray Cameron and the late Sylvia Lee Taylor Cameron. She was preceded in died early Friday morning, May 16, 2003, at his home. He was Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Monday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family wishes that memorials be made to the Southern Gospel Radio (WBLB), PO Box 150, Pulaski, Va. 24301. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.

JAMES EDWARD "JIGGS" MILLER
SALEM - James Edward "Jiggs" Miller, 78, of 4420 Refuge Lane, Draper, Born August 1, 1924 in Barren Springs, he was the son the late Robert Thoams Miller and Suel Miller. His wife, Mary Ellen Hall Miller, two sisters, Anneta Penn and Rosie Trueheart, and one brother, Leon Miller, also preceded him in Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Slaughter Chapel Church or Draper Volunteer Fire Department.

WILLIAM DUVAL ANDERSON
PULASKI - William Duval Anderson (known by many as Bill or Andy), 58, of 904 Bland Street, Pulaski born in Pulaski on Nov. 9, 1944 and was the son of the late James William Anderson and Gracie Williams Anderson. He was preceded in funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Lones officiating. Burial will follow in Thornspring died early Thursday morning May 15, 2003 at Pulaski Community Hospital. Interment will follow in Oakwood died Tuesday evening May 13, 2003 at her Wytheville residence. death by her husband James “Jack” William Litz, three sisters; Alma Dalton Robertson, Beatrice Arnold, and Daphine Coffey, one brother; Sterling White. She is survived by one son; S. Arnold Harris of Roanoke: two sisters; Marie Hurst of Laurel, Md., and Jo Ann Akers of Pulaski: three brothers Ralph E. White, Frank B. White, and John W. White all of Pulaski. She is also survived by three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randal Lawrence officiating. died Tuesday morning, May 13, 2003 at his home. He was death by a grandson, Edward “Nub” Porter. He was a retired employee of RAAP. Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy Porter, Pulaski; children, Sharion Porter, Pulaski, Lugene P. Cabaniss, Pulaski, Rickey Porter, Pulaski; five step-children, Kathy Payne, Pulaski, Sharon Privett, Tenn., Teresa Nelson, Wythe County, Karen Hill, Wythe County, James Payne, Wythe County; four sisters, Norma Taylor, Richmond, Burleane Mumpower, Richmond, Wilma Barrett, Richmond, Tommie Sheffey, Ivanhoe; brother, Bobby Porter, Louisa; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.passed away Monday, May 12, 2003 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was retired from the United States Air Force having served in Japan, Korea, Spain and Germany. He was preceded in Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

MILDRED BROCKMEYER AUST
DRAPER - Mildred Brockmeyer Aust, 87, of Draper, Va. death by her husband of more 60 years, the late Foy Aust. A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pulaski, she served as the church organist for 33 years. Mrs. Aust was a graduate of Pulaski High School and the National Business College. Surviving are: her twin brother, Dr. Milton W. Brockmeyer, Pulaski; sons and daughters-in-law, Milton N. and Brenda B. Aust, Draper, Myron R. and Dianne H. Aust, Pulaski; daughter, Melanie M. Aust, Hillsville; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, at 3 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Terrie L. Sternberg officiating. Cemetery. Visiting will be Wednesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.
