CHRISTIANSBURG - Lora Jane Hash, 43, of Christiansburg, Virginia, departed this life on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was death by her parents, Ruben Hash, Sr., Eula Hash Gaither; Stepfather, Raymond Gaither Sr., other siblings. She was a 1979 graduate of Pulaski County High School. She graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and minors in Psychology and Social Work. She completed her internship through the Pulaski County Office on Youth, during which time she was voted Who's Who Among America's Young Women. She was employed by the Growing Tree Daycare as a supervisor and preschool teacher. She was a member of Christian Growth Center Church where she served on the praise and worship team and was involved in children's ministry. She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, two sons, Andrae S. Hash and Tazmond M. Hash of Christiansburg, VA; two sisters, Minister Valinda Hash-Peoples of Pulaski, VA; Charlene (Anthony) Hale of Jonesboro, GA; seven brothers Rev. Gary (Colette) Hash, Harold (Bonnie) Hash of Pulaski, VA; Bert Hash Sr., Aberdeen, MD; Rev. Alton (Faith) Hash of Pickerington, OH; Rev. Howard (Debbie) Hash of Tulsa, OK; Pastor Robert Jones of Houston, TX; Raymond GaitherJr., Tulsa, OK; a special friend, Teresa Woodyard of Christiansburg, VA and a host of relatives and friends. A celebration service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Christian Growth Center Church, 1850 Electric Way, Christiansburg, VA. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, from 7-8:30 p.m. born. We both said we loved and missed each other, I told him to be careful, and that was the last I spoke to him”. In addition to his wife and their expected son, Micheal is survived by his parents, Russell Dooley and Ann Davis and a brother, Jacob Ward of Pulaski, his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Jean Garard of Murrysville, brother-in-law, Bill Garard, Jr. Funeral arrangements by Maurice L. PULASKI - Mary Lee Tolbert Sink, 94 of Pulaski and formerly of White Gate born Jan. 26, 1909 in Pulaski County the daughter of the late Ribble and Elizabeth Tolbert. Also preceded in Cemetery, White Gate. Visiting will be at the funeral home Tuesday after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

MAX MEADOWS - William Gatewood “Bill” Coulson, Jr., age 63, of Danner Road, Max Meadows, Born Sept. 11, 1939 in Wythe County, son of the late William G., Sr. and Ollie Gertrude Fowler Coulson. He was a driller, having worked for E. J. Longyear, V.P.I. and Daniels Construction and served in the United States Navy. He is survived by, one daughter, Tammy Arnold of Max Meadows; two sons, Barry “Stew” Coulson, Max Meadows, Jeff “Fred” Coulson, Ivanhoe; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Gay Coulson, Kathryn Coulson, both of Pulaski, Lillian Thomas, Max Meadows, Donna Coulson, Houston, Texas; one brother, Sidney “Bub” Coulson, Dublin; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be private. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday or at the home of his daughter, Tammy Arnold at any time. PULASKI - Robert Carl Akers, Sr. age 66 of Pulaski death by his parents, Earl and Reba Caldwell Akers, and a son, Brian Keith Akers. Survivors include his wife, Anna S. Akers of Pulaski, two daughters, Donna Meredith of Pulaski, and Kathy Taylor of Blacksburg; a son, Robert C. Akers, Jr. of Pulaski; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Ernest Caldwell of Roanoke; and a sister, Mary Sue McDaniel of Dublin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairlawn Church of God with the Rev. Joe Strazzire officiating. died Friday night, June 13, 2003 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was death by her husband, Carl Whitaker, two sisters, Beulah King and Elva Runyon and by two brothers, John D. King and Bill King. She was member of the First Christian Church, Pulaski. Surviving are: her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jim Palmer, Wytheville; sister, Mrs. Melvin (Mildred) Warden, Pulaski; three nieces and one nephew.Cemetery, Pulaski County. RADFORD - Rev. Arthur Lee Wesley age 59 of Radford, departed this life on June 12, 2003 at the Roanoke Community Hospital after a long illness. He was Interment will be at Pinehurst died Friday morning, June 13, 2003 at his home. He was death by two brothers, Bruce McMillan and Clyde “Wink” McMillan and by a father-in-law, James Turpin. Surviving are: his wife, Betty McMillan, Pulaski; mother, Retta Jones McMillan, Pulaski; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Barbara and Bill Chrisley, Dublin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Denver and Bettie McMillan, Pulaski, Norman and Sue McMillan, Lexington, Ky.; mother-in-law, Cora Lee Turpin, Pulaski; two dogs, Scotter and Squirt; several nieces and nephews.Cemetery, Pulaski County. DUBLIN - Jean Ellen Jones, age 69, of Newbern, death by her mother, Violet Gaye Bourne and her husband, Charles Jones Sr. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles, Jr. and Carman Jones of Radford; two grandchildren, George Harman of Radford, and Justin Harman of Floyd; three brothers-in-law and spouse, Kenneth and Mary Jones of Norcross, GA, Vince Pampley of Pulaski, and Thomas Jones of Maryland; one sister-in-law and spouse, Vivian and David Coltrane of Irmo, SC.; three aunts, Helen Bourne, Lettie Bourne, and Laura Mae Melvin, all of Tazewell; an uncle and an aunt, Henry and Carrie Bourne of Tazewell; surrogate sister, Darlene Covey of Pulaski; and a faithful companion, Scruffy. PLAINFIELD, Ind. - Rubye Taylor Creech, Plainfield, born in Austinville, Va. August 23, 1935, the daughter of the late Hurley and Gertrude Porter Taylor. In 1954 she graduated with honors from Radford University at the age of 18. Through the years she was a cherished mother, homemaker, and dear friend to many. Ms. Creech was employed as an educator, a division manager for a cosmetics firm, and a sales manager. She was awarded the Leasing Manager of the Year award from the Indiana Apartment Association. She retired as a leasing manager from Gene B. Glick Co. in 1999. Survivors include, two daughters, Lisa Smith of Falmouth, Maine, and Lin DiRenzo of Vineland, N. J; two grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Taylor Register of Memphis, Tenn. and Peggy Taylor Hubble of Pulaski. Memorial services will be held at the Plainfield Christian Church on Monday June 16 at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends in the garden at her home following the service from 4-8 p.m.; 1620 Beech Circle Dr., Plainfield, Ind.
