PULASKI - Everett Wooling Vaughan, 93, of Pulaski, Born February 17, 1910 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Minnie R. Vier Vaughan and George Letcher Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pulaski, and was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in W.W.II., and was a retired foreman in the maintenance department at Radford Army Ammunition Plant. He was a member of the Highlands Park Community Church, Dublin. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Goff was a member of Henry Clay Lodge #280 AF & AM, Dublin. He was a Shriner and member of the Kazim Temple - Roanoke, and also a Scottish rites mason. Mr. Goff was retired from Klopman Mills with 28 years of service. Then he worked for D&S Distribution for five years and most recently worked for the Wackenhut Security Company as a security guard at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Surviving are his wife of forty-one years, Sylvia Dalton Goff of Dublin; three sisters, Mary Lovern of Barren Springs, Bonnie Hinkley of Dublin, Loretta Wright of Radford; three brothers, Clancey Goff of Houston, Texas; Earl Goff of Wytheville, and Russell Goff of Wyandotte, Mich. The interment will be Monday at the Riggins Family born on March 4, 1915 in Newbern. He was the son of the late Romer M. Hurst and Elizabeth Tolley Hurst. He was preceded in Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends anytime at the son's home, 208 3rd Street, Dublin and at the funeral home Monday from 1 until 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Life Harvest building fund, P.O. WYTHEVILLE - Elsie Fern “Polly” King Whitaker, 92, of Wytheville and formerly of Pulaski died Friday morning, June 13, 2003, at his home. He was death by two brothers, Bruce McMillan and Clyde "Wink" McMillan, and by a father-in-law, James Turpin. Surviving are wife, Betty McMillan of Pulaski; mother, Retta Jones McMillan of Pulaski; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Barbara and Bill Chrisley of Dublin; brothers and sisters in-law, Denver and Bettie McMillan of Pulaski; mother-in-law, Cora Lee Turpin of Pulaski; two dogs, Scotter and Squirt; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Lawson officiating. She was death by her parents, Rufus and Mary Harrell; a daughter, Helen Dominick; three brothers, Raymond, Elmer and Russell Harrell; a sister, Pauline Bassler. She attended French’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church and loved to read her Bible, sing and draw. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Abbott and husband, Ronnie Wimmer, Dublin; one son, Gary Ratliff, Wilmington, Delaware; two sisters, Loraine and husband, Lane Keffer, Pearisburg; Myrtle and husband, Basil Bychkowski, Boothwyn, Pa.; two brothers, Woodrow Harrell, Roger and wife, Susan Harrell all of Dublin; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the French’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Billy Akers officiating. Burial in Highland Memory Garden, Dublin. Visiting will be Saturday at A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home, White Gate after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

AUSTINVILLE - Annie Belle Stowers Canter Shaddle, age 82, of Austinville, born May 10, 1921 in Mayberry, W. Va., daughter of the late Walter and Emma Carden Stowers. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Pulaski and was preceded in Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. She is survived by a daughter, Mona Mutter of Abingdon, Va.; son, Kenneth Hite of Radford, Va.; two stepsons, Tom Dowell and Bill Dowell both of Pulaski; two stepdaughters, Joann Lindsay and Mary Jane Blankenship of Pulaski; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. RICHMOND - Allie M. Moore, 98, of Richmond, widow of Stover G. Moore, death by two sons Patrick Edward and Jack Green Moore, and is survived by six children: Martha Moore, Mildred Pridgen, William A., Emmett L., Gilbert Eugene, and Murrel Stover Moore, ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. GAHANNA, OHIO - James D. Roberts, 60, of 723 Hunters Run, Gahanna, Ohio born in Pulaski on August 26, 1942. He was a devoted husband and father. Forthright and dedicated, he was a fiscal manager for the State of Ohio for 27 years. Always a gentleman he loved his family and friends, scuba diving, playing softball, bridge, dancing, The Duke, the OSU Buckeyes, flowers and a good martini. He served four years with the Army Security Agency assigned in Germany. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Moose Lodge #2463 and the American Legion Post #797. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in funeral service was held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m from the Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Avenue where friends called 2 hours prior to the service.
