PULASKI - Al Curtis “Ted-Mr. Tibbs” Hilliard, Sr., 90, of Pulaski, left this world for his home in heaven on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003. A beloved husband, father, and friend, Ted was died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003. Penn’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PULASKI - Malvina Yvonne “Flossie” Lash departed this life and went home to Glory on Oct. 23, 2003 at the New River Valley Medical Center after a long illness. She was death by her parents, her grandmother Martha Green (Miss Poss).
She leaves to carry on the family lifestyle of holiness her three daughters; Shirley Brown, Radford, Charlene Thornton and Gloria Baldwin both of Pulaski; son, Earl Douglas Lee Phillips, Radford; four grandsons.
Viewing at Noon and Funeral at 2 p.m. at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church on Oct. 28 with the Reverend Leroy Henry; with burial at Pinehurst passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003.
Mary was kind-hearted, beautiful, and sweet; she was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and grandmother. Mary worked for IUE Local 161 for 34 years and was retired. Mary served in many capacities serving her union founder for the Coalition of Labor Union Women Southwestern Virginia Chapter, member of the Sixth District Democratic Committee and Botetourt County Democratic Committee. Mary was a professional woman who had high values and standards and lived life in those ways speaking out for the good of mankind.
Mary was preceded in passed away Friday, October 24, 2003 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was a member of the Cornersview Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include her husband, Russell T. Simpkins; two daughters, Deborah Tracy Cox and Sandra Christine Keen both of Christiansburg; two brothers, Roy A. White of Brunswick, Ohio and Paul Kincaid of Largo, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Hudson of N. Ridgeville, Ohio and Betty Woodman of LaGrange, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 26, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Cornersview Pentecostal Holiness Church. Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

RADFORD - Toshiko Tedka Reves, 69 of Radford, born in Japan and was a retired employee of Inland Motors with over 30 years of service. Frank G. Creger, Sr. died Tuesday afternoon in Pulaski Community Hospital after a short illness. death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janie Oliver Dowdy; his mother, Rosette Dowdy; daughter, Lisa Annette Justice and her husband, Carl of Riner; brother, Jerry G. Dowdy, Pembroke; two sisters, Eloise D. Songer and Terry L. Dowdy, both of Newport; step-daughter, Ashley Buckner, Pulaski and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Sunrise Burial Park in Fairlawn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

ALLISONIA - Alta Alexander Smythers, 88, of 759 Smythers Mtn. Drive, Allisonia born on May 5, 1915 in Carroll County and was the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Rebecca Myers Alexander. She was also preceded in Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Farris Mines Christian Church with Rev. Dennis Trail and Rev. Howard Bruce officiating. FAIRLAWN – Daphna Estes Vancannon, 81 of Fairlawn, death by her parents, Russel and Mary Ann Vipperman Wayne, two brothers, Jim and Donnie Wayne, one sister, Vergie Gearheart, and three husbands, Thomas w. Estes, Norman Vancannon, and William Duncan. Survivors include three daughters, Toby Caldwell of Fairlawn; Betty Sue Cromer of Fairlawn; and Rosetta Mills of Concord, VA; one son, Thomas Estes of Fairlawn; two brothers, Harold Wayne of Richmond; Edward Wayne of Richmond; two sisters, Christine Thorton of Culpepper, VA; Jeanette Loving of Richmond.

DUBLIN – Frank William Laurenson, age 89 of Pulaski passed away Friday, October 17, 2003 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She attended the Fairlawn Church of God and was a former employee in the Social Services Dept. of the City of Radford. Survivors include her husband, Tim Viers of Christiansburg; a daughter, Katherine "Katie" Viers of
Christiansburg; her parents, John and Linda Thompson Durham of Pulaski.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Fairlawn Church of God.
died suddenly of heart complications while cycling with his best friend Richard “Dickie” McMillan on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003. He was only 52 and is survived by his four children, Aaron (28), Conor (23), Molly (22), and Kieran (17); his fiancee, Debbie Sullins; and his three siblings, Timothy Quinlan, Todd Quinlan, and Katie Meisinger.
