A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bower Funeral Chapel Pulaski with the Rev. Thomas Underwood officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.

DUBLIN - Phyllis Imogene Bennett Simpkins 65 of Dublin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 6, 2004 at Pulaski Community Hospital. She was a member of French’s Chapel Church. She was preceded in Interment will follow in the Pentecostal Conference passed away Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was always the life of the party and was loved by everyone she met. She found the good in everyone and made use of this ability during her work with Meals on Wheels and sitting with the sick and elderly. She loved dancing and traveling to the beach and the lake where she loved being outdoors. She was retired from Inland Motors. PARROTT – Ruth Sifford Gravley, age 73 of Parrott, death by her husband Gene Gravley and a daughter Rita Gail Gravley. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Rusty McCoy, Dublin, Mary and Rocky Cullop, Pataskala, Ohio, four sons, Ricky Gravley and his wife Diane, Dublin, Tony Gravley and his wife Donna, Parrott, Dalvin Gravley and Ken Gravley, Parrott, one brother Leroy Sifford and his wife Barbara, Fairlawn, three sisters, Molly Nester and her husband Bobby, Parrott, Barbara Foster and Sue Bullion, both of Parrott. Eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Parrott Church of God, with Rev. Eddie Dalton and Rev. DUBLIN – Alice L. Wright, age 83 died Saturday, April 30, 2005. She was death by Milton Henry Brockmeyer, M.D. and Benjamin C. Tate, Captain U.S.N. retired, as well as one brother, K.V. Brugh, Jr.
Mrs. Tate was a lifelong resident of Pulaski and a staunch advocate for her community throughout her life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a supporter of the Northwood School PTA, the Virginia Tech Hokies, Thornspring Country Club, United Way of Pulaski, and various other local charities and foundations. She was a member of D.A.R. and a graduate of Virginia Intermont College.
Surviving are: her sons, M.H. (Brock) Brockmeyer, Jr., Charlotte, N.C. Mr. and Mrs. Blair B. Brockmeyer, Pittsburgh; granddaughter and husband, Kristin B. and Dan Sycks; nephews, Robert Brugh, Greensboro, N.C., Pat Brugh, Charlotte, N.C.
Her family and friends will miss her generous company and gracious hospitality.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Oakwood went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, April 29, 2005, at his home on Claytor Lake surrounded by his family. He was death by his beloved wife of 55 years Mamie Bond Smith, as well as his parents, Joseph Perry Smith and Willie Mae Smith.
He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Joe Bishop of Dublin, Diane and Carson Dalton of Dublin and Carol Smith of Pulaski ; his beloved brother and sister-in-law Barton and Norma Smith of Sylvatus; his grandchildren, Jana and Jeff Beckner of Draper, Laura and Kevin McDowell of Christiansburg, Mary and Jonathan Cheverton of Dublin, Bradley Dalton and Darren Dalton of Dublin; his special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Berta and Carl Viars of Pulaski; his brother-in-law LaHugh Bond of Wythe County; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Russell will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a hard worker and a proud veteran. He was very generous, giving and loved to share with others. He was deeply loved by his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sons-in-law highly admired and respected him as their father-in-law.

BLACKSBURG - Wallace Edward Ritter, Sr., age 61, of Blacksburg born in Welch, West Virginia on May 20, 1943, to the late Wendell H. Sr. and Mary Nester Ritter. She was death by her husband, James Curtis “Red” Chrisley and by 11 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Chrisley was a member of the First Christian Church, Pulaski, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a retired beautician having worked at Style City Beauty Salon for 30 years.
Surviving are: her son, John Kelly “J.K.” Chrisley and his wife, Gail Long Chrisley, Pickerington, Ohio; daughters, Patricia “Patty” Chrisley Melton and her husband, Richard Lee Melton, Merrimack, N.H., Teena Marie Chrisley, Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Kerri Lynn Melton, Blacksburg, Va., Sonya Annette Melton, Richmond, Va., Amber Melton Bonds, Richmond, Va.; many nieces and nephews.

Martin, Sr. and Lennie Hunter Martin. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church, Magazine Street, Pulaski, Va. She completed high school at the Christiansburg Industrial Institute. She received her B.S. Degree from A & T State University, Greensboro, N.C. After moving to Brooklyn, N.Y. she met and passed away Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Blacksburg Church of Christ and was a retired employee of the New River Valley Medical Center. Survivors include a brother, Edward K. Reece of Pulaski; sister, Cathleen Jefferson of Cincinnati, Ohio; several cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Radford Church of Christ with Mr. Larry Phillips and Mr. Tom Gilliam officiating. Cemetery in Floyd County.
