ALLISONIA - Walter Baker, age 88 of 4158 Boone Furnace Road, Allisonia Born May 18, 1916 in Galax, Va., he was the son of the late Mose Baker and Bessie Carson Baker. He was also preceded in Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin where full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Pulaski VFW Post #1184.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.

MARGARET ALICE ETTER LINEWEAVER
PULASKI - Margaret Alice Etter Lineweaver, 92, passed from this life on May 10, 2005 at Pulaski Healthcare Center. married D. Richard (Dick) Lineweaver in 1938 and spent most of her life in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, Virginia, where she and her husband raised two daughters, Bonnie L. Paul of Harrisonburg and Debra Lineweaver of Hiwassee, Virginia.
A shy, reserved woman, Margaret quietly excelled in her artistic abilities during those years. As a charter member of the Sherwood Garden Club, she received innumerable awards for creative flower arranging and horticultural success. She and her close friend, Marguerite Tutwiler opened The Ceramic Shop on Water Street in 1962 and continued teaching classes and creating popular and unique pieces in their homes for many years. Margaret dabbled in pottery and sketching. At Christmastime, her favorite time of year, she decorated every room in the house with original designs. Her family and friends cherish the heirlooms she created.
With complete dedication to family, Margaret and Dick made a loving home for Bonnie and Debbie and opened their hearts and home to their niece, Pamela Cahill Hennon. A wonderful cook and lover of music, Margaret often danced while in the kitchen. She delighted in children and devoted herself to her three grandchildren, Penelope Paul Imeson, John Abraham Paul, and Thomas Jefferson Paul.
Later in life, Margaret worked as a caregiver for children and older adults in the community. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.
After leaving her home, she moved to southwestern Virginia four years ago, where she continued her ceramics and love of music and made new friends. The family extends warm appreciation to those at Showalter Center and Pulaski Healthcare who showed her sincere affection and care.
Preceded in cemetery near Harrisonburg, Virginia on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 am. Family and friends will gather afterward at the home of Bonnie Paul. Arrangements by Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA.
In Hiwassee, family visitation and remembrance of Margaret will take place on Sunday, May 15 from 2 pm to 6 pm at the home of Jason and Debbie, a place Margaret loved to be. Please call for directions.
SAMUEL LEE NEWCOMB, SR.
DISPUTANTA - Samuel Lee Newcomb, Sr. age 52 of Disputanta born in Lynchburg, Va. on March 6, 1953 to the late Samuel Ralph Newcomb, Jr. and Elsie Marie Hubbard Newcomb. He was also preceded in died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at his home. He was funeral service.

J. DIANNE MITCHELL
J. Dianne Mitchell, 59, of 5030 Coach Hill Drive, Born in Radford, she was the daughter of the late Virginia Montgomery Kirtner and was raised by Roy and Ila Burton. Ms. Mitchell was member of the Christian Church.
Surviving is her husband; one daughter, Michelle (Shelly) Lancaster and her husband Ray of Inman; two sons, Mark Mitchell and his wife Dianna of Simpsonville and Eric Mitchell and his wife Kary of Greenville; six grandchildren, Ashleigh and John Tyler Lancaster, Daniel Owens, Victoria Mitchell, and Connelly and Mallory Mitchell; two sisters, Sherry Linkous of Christianburg, VA and Sandy Tynan of Radford VA; and one brother, Robert Kirtner of Lyman. She was predeceased by one brother.
Services will be held on Monday, February 16th, 2004 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, downtown at 1:30pm. A visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 12:30.

WYTHEVILLE - Georgia Stone Hammond, 100, of Wytheville died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 at her home.

DUBLIN – James Henry (Buck) Meadows, age 90 of 600 Jordan Street, Dublin, departed this life on Feb. 12, 2004 at Pulaski Community Hospital. Funeral arrangements pending at Penn’s Funeral Home.
WILLIAM CARRINGTON CROWDER, JR.
DUBLIN – William Carrington Crowder, Jr. age 73 of 5453 Lovell Drive, Dublin died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004. Her season began on Dec. 21, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Mary Burnett Walker and George Walker of New River, Va. The youngest of 12 children, all of her brothers and sisters have predeceased her. She worked for many years at Saint Albans Hospital. Until her health became fragile, she was an active life-long member of First Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to Atlanta, Ga. In April 1995 to live with her son Charles, and became a participant in the 80-Plus Club, the Young-At-Heart Exercise Class and the Bible History Class at the Quality Living Senior Services Center. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Alexander Stigger for 56 years until his funeral service, 1 p.m. Saturday, at First Missionary Baptist Church in New River, by Claytor Dean Funeral Home.

DUBLIN – Judith May Lovern Vires, age 64 of 5529 Haga Drive, Dublin Born April 9, 1939 in Pulaski, she is the daughter of Ruby Pauline Tolbert Dalton and the late Roy Garfield Lovern. Her husband, William Gilmer Vires, Sr. and one son, William Gilmer Vires, Jr. also preceded her in Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski.

DRAPER – Charlotte Miller age 50 of Draper, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at the Friendship Manor Health Care Center, Roanoke, Va. She was Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Pulaski with Rev. Leroy Henry officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Memorial Garden, Dublin. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church.

GREENSBORO, NC - Yolonda Renee Cruise Tayo of Greensboro NC, formerly of Pulaski, VA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at High Point Regional Hospital, High Point NC. Yolonda was death by her father; Thomas D. Cruise, her grandparents; Odell E. Connor, Irene and Maryland Harney.
Yolonda leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 21 years; Augustine Michael Tayo of the home; her mother; Clara H. Cruise, Pulaski VA; one sister; Stephanie Whyte, Christiansburg VA, three brothers; Cedric, Buford, GA; Thomas, Upper Marlboro MD; Daryl, Winston-Salem NC, Grandfather; J. Russell Conner, Dublin VA.
Visitation will be Friday evening February 13, 2004 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday February 14, 2004 at 1:00 PM. All services at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, 1607 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski VA, Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin VA.
