RADFORD - Woodrow Wilson Myers, 88, of Radford, death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Myers. Survivors include a son, Norman Daniel Myers of Wytheville; a daughter, Sheila Ratcliff of Radford; a brother, Julius Alexander Myers of FL; two sisters, Velma Powers of Ohio and Ruth Fisher of Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Radford Worship Center with Rev. Mike Lester and members of Mr. Myers’s family officiating. passed away at the Roanoke Community Hospital.
Surviving are: her parents, Nathaniel and Cynthia Clemmons, Pulaski; maternal grandparents, Connie and Roy Lineberry, Dublin, Larry Hayes and fiancée Renee Gerow, Fairlawn; paternal grandparents, Carl and Marilyn Clemmons, Pulaski; aunts and uncles, Kimberly Hayes, Kristi and Josh Brady, Mark Lineberry and Chuck Clemmons; many great aunts, uncles and cousins as well as a large church family.

PULASKI – Sarah Lucy Nester Lyons, 80, of Mashburn Ave., Pulaski, Born Feb. 19, 1923 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Rosia Dalton Nester. Smith, Walter B. Smith, Allen R. Smith, William Smith and Brack Smith, and by three sisters, Mary S. Hayden, Eleanor S. Lane and Margie S. Newton.
Sgt. Major Smith’s military record included 23 years of service in Special Forces (Green Berets) and he fought in three wars – World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He loved children; he would give them candy or quarters. He, also, loved his country and the D-Day Memorial.
Surviving are: his sister, Vandell S. Minton, Pulaski; special great-niece and spouse, Debra G. and David Scanland and family, Christiansburg; one nephew and family, Harry and Jean Gates, Pulaski; two nieces and their families, Maud G. Brodd, Tappahannock, Va., Ruth G. and Charles Stewart, Pulaski; numerous other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski with Rev. Jeff Kackley officiating. FREDERICKSBURG – Ella Farmer Brown, age 84 of 211 Cropp Road Fredericksburg, Va. and formerly of Dublin, Va. Born September 14, 1920 in Pulaski, Va. she was the daughter of the late Kelly Farmer and Rose Linkous Farmer. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in Interment will follow privately in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. DUBLIN - Walter Joseph Walker "Bill" of Dublin, Virginia born in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, the son of the late Walter Joseph Walker, Sr., and Pearl Ellender Walker. DRAPER - Jerry P. Shumate, Sr., age 72 of Draper passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004 at his home in Radford. He was a member of the Bains Chapel Pentecostal
Holiness Church and a retired NCRO from Hercules with 37 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Linda B Moser of Radford; his mother and step-father, Ruth M. and Marion Miller of Peterstown, WV; a son, Buster Lee Moser of Christiansburg; two daughters, Melissa M. McCroskey of Salem, and Romanza D. Moser of Pilot; a brother, Ronnie Miller of Daniels, WV; two sisters, Remona Moser Irvin of Mabank, TX, and Shelby Jean Miller of Daniels, WV; and five grandchildren. JAMES P. TICKLE, JR.
DRAPER – James P. Tickle, Jr. departed this life on Saturday, March 27, 2004. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jimmy was death by his father, James P. Tickle, Sr. and is survived by his mother, Ruby Windle Tickle.
Additionally, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Bessie Burcham Tickle, his only child, James Christopher Tickle and his wife, Lynne of Richmond and two cherished grandsons, Philip Sutherland Tickle and William Pierce Heywood Tickle. Jimmy is also survived by his two brothers, Jerry and his wife, Linda, of Morris, Minn. and Johnny and his wife, Ruby, of Draper. Jimmy particularly loved his nieces and nephews, most often treating them as though they were his own children. Included are Kelly Tickle DeWitt, Daphne Tickle LaFleur, Derek Lee Tickle, Jeffrey Floyd Tickle, Julie Kristine Tickle and Bethany Claire Tickle. He was also blessed to enjoy three great nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by numerous other brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cemetery. Visiting will be Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. from the Draper’s Valley Baptist Church. Although he loved the beauty of flowers he would certainly appreciate donations in his memory to either the American Diabetes Association, 1290 Seminole Trail, Suite 2, Charlottesville, Va. 22901 or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd./Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852.
