PULASKI – Ila Mae Stilwell, age 78 of Pulaski, Born June 16, 1925 in Wythe County she was the daughter of the late Haymon and Ada Mae Swecker. She was also preceded in Interment will follow in Liberty Hill passed away Friday, March 26, 2004 at his home in Pilot. He was a truck painter and mechanic with Marshall Concrete Co.
He was preceded in Interment will follow in the West View passed away Thursday, Mar. 25, 2004 at her home.
Interment will follow at the Hufford died Sunday, Mar. 21, 2004 at her residence. Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 24 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Darby officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill born Dec. 10, 1936 to Noel and Curenna “Sammie” (Nelson) Bassett in Pulaski, Va. She graduated from Pulaski High School class of 1954 and Anderson College in Indiana, on Feb. 22, 1957, she death are her parents, Noel and “Sammie” Bassett, and her brother, Robert L. Bassett.
Survivors include: her husband, Alvin Roberts of Cameron; son, Alvin Lynn Roberts, Jr. and wife Holly of Cameron; daughters, Deborah Kay Burnett of Temple, Linda Renee Seaton of Cameron; brother, James N. Bassett and wife Maria of Universal City, Texas; sisters, Linda B. Hall and husband Ron of Pulaski, Rosalie Taylor and husband Scott of Pulaski, Rosanne Wilson and husband Doug of Pulaski; four grandchildren, Jeffery Lynn Roberts, Lyndsey Michelle Burnett, Cassandera June Roberts, Mandi Marie Seaton.

RADFORD - Larry Dean Akers, 61 of Radford, death by his parents, Guy and Isabelle Akers. Survivors include a sister, Deborah L. Smith of Riner. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin with Rev. Bill Schoeneman officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation. The family is being served by the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
BEULAH FRANCIS HARRELL (CAIN) KING
PULASKI - Beulah Francis Harrell (Cain) King, age 89 of Pulaski, born September 19, 1914, in Giles County, Va. to the late Thomas and Queenie Harrell. Mrs. King worked many years at Klopman Mills. She was a devoted member of the Dora Highway Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked with the Sunday school dept. Beulah was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her husband, Elmer King and daughter, Francis Cain Gleason predeceased her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sherman “Sonny” and Barbara Cain, of Pulaski; her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Chuck Haverty, of Vista, CA; granddaughters and spouses: Missie and Ken Mitchell, Sonya and Shawn Burchett of Pulaski; Vickie and Steve Beha, of Murrayvilles, W.Va., Susan and Mark Agalzoff of Oregon; a grandson Hank Gleason of Barren Springs, Va.; step grandsons, Mike and his wife Chrissy Price of Dublin, Chris Price of Pulaski, Sisters; Emma Fuller, Elva Doyle, and Lona Fagg of Pulaski, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday March 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. passed away Monday, Mar. 22, 2004 at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was death by his wife, Nancy Ruth Edwards Ramsey. He was retired from the City of Radford, Streets Department with 38-Ω years service, he was a United States Army veteran of World War II and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Kermit W. and Susie Ramsey, Hiwassee; Thomas D. Ramsey, Blacksburg; Timothy M. and Christine Ramsey, Dublin; Glenn L. Ramsey, Decatur, Texas; five grandchildren, Bryan, Weston, Kevin and Travis Ramsey, Samantha Decker; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Ashlyn Decker.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. J. P. Hale officiating. Burial in the Moore passed away Sunday, Mar. 21, 2004, at Park West Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had been employed at Lenoir City Wal-Mart as a greeter. Nealie retired from Johnson’s Health Care (now Baptist Health Care) where she was the Activity Coordinator. She was an active member of Coytee Women’s Club. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lenoir City and the Loudon Co., Beautification Board. Preceded in went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Mar. 21, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was Cemetery in Snowville with Rev. Sam Huntley officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Ruby Ratcliff following the service. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.

Surviving are: her parents, Henry and Helen Parks, Pulaski; daughters, Lori Hale, Dublin, Natasha Jones, Pulaski; granddaughters, Ashley Quesenberry, Logan Quesenberry, Lauren Jones, Kearston Jones; grandson, Josh Jones; sisters, Betty P. Frazier, Pulaski, Patricia P. Willis, Pulaski; daughter-in-law, Angela Jones, Max Meadows; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Mar. 23, 2004 from Stevens Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jerry Collins officiating. He is survived by two daughters, Amy Cody and husband, Matt, of Chambersburg, Pa. and Cindy Huff and husband, Dwayne, of Galax; two grandsons, Ryan Cody and Daniel Huff; a sister, Helen Cox of Galax; one niece and two nephews.
After serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II, he attended William and Mary Law School. He graduated in 1950 and was appointed Judge in 1954. After retiring in 1992, Judge Joines continued serving as a substitute Judge until his Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be sent to the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church Youth Ministry at 3350 Meadow Creek Road, Galax, Va. 24333.

MELVIN MONROE MCNEW
DUBLIN – Melvin Monroe McNew, 77 of Dublin born September 18, 1926 in Kentucky the son of the late Norvel and Mona Chapman McNew. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Pulaski V.F.W. Post #1184 and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Olena McNew; five daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Jordon, Waynesboro, Retta Gaye and Herbie Dotson, Logan, W. Va., Kathryn and Jeff Sammons, Princeton, W. Va., Nony and Chris Bishop, Cornelius, N.C., Carolyn and Eric Strock, Bland; three sons, Steve Johnson, Dublin, Melvin Jr. and Regina McNew, Westfield, N.C., Johnny and Michelle Johnson, Danville; ten grandchildren, Jason Harless, Jonathan Harless, Channing Hash, Timothy McNew, Shelley Caudle, Jenna Caudle, Anthony McNew, Logan Johnson, Cole Strock, Kennedy Bishop.
