PULASKI - Noah Elgean Simpkins, age 55 of 3351 Old Route 100, Pulaski Born February 15, 1950 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late General Pryor Simpkins and Opal Mae Shelton Simpkins. One brother, Early W. Simpkins, also preceded him in Cemetery, (Delton Community), Draper with Rev. Dale Akers Officiating. The family and friends will leave in procession from the funeral home to the passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
He was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church. He was preceded in Cemetery at 10:45 AM today for graveside services at 11 AM with Dr. E. A. Eldridge officiating.
The family received friends Sunday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel, 1321 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN.
RAY H. FARMER
RADFORD - Ray H Farmer, age 92, of Radford, death by his wife Nina K. Farmer. Surviving are his daughters, Angeline Farmer, Lynchburg, and Jacqueline Farmer Marzano, Arlington, TX, and his son Mack Farmer, Radford, his grandchildren Luke Okes, Adam Farmer, and MacKenzie Farmer. Three great grandchildren and a special sister-in-law Irene King Robinson also survive.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at The DeVilbis Funeral Home, Radford, and from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at The Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 6, 2005 at The Grove Methodist Church with Rev. James Bennington officiating. Cemetery, Pulaski County.

LARRY WILLIAM HURT
RADFORD - Larry William Hurt, age 81, of Radford, passed on to his heavenly home from Carilion New River Medical Center, Saturday, July 2, 2005. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church for thirty eight years. He was a retired employee of Lynchburg Foundry Company and also retired as a realtor after fifteen years.
He was preceded in Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2005 at the DeVilbis Funeral Home, Radford.
SUSAN KEMP LEWIS
GULFPORT, MISS. – Susan Kemp Lewis of Gulfport, Miss., born in Gulfport on Oct. 14, 1913 and was raised in Casper, Wy. She often visited her grandmother Susan Dupont in Gulfport and returned to attend Gulf Park College in 1929. While at Gulf Park she was a member of the Athletic Association, Phi Theta Kappa Honorary Sorority and treasurer of the Coastal Club. She also enjoyed writing poetry during her college years. She graduated from Gulf Park College in 1931. She continued her education at Louisiana State University pursuing studies for a career in social work. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She met her husband to be at LSU. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1933 and death of her husband in 1997, Sue moved to Lafayette, La. to be near her son. She enjoyed visiting her daughters in Virginia and New Orleans and their friends became her friends. Sue’s long and rich life is best described by one of Tennyson’s famous lines, “I am a part of all that I have me.”
Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by her husband, Colonel Lawrence Lee Lewis, Jr. (USAF-Retired) of Gulfport, her brother, Dr. Robert Kemp of Asheville, N.C., her mother, Ruby D. Kemp of Gulfport and her father, Robert T. Kemp of Casper, Wyoming.
She is survived by her children, Beth Echols of Charleston, S.C., Joanne Bell of Dublin, Va., Trisha Cook of New Orleans, La., and Lawrence L. Lewis, III of Lafayette, La.; her brother Ridgeley Kemp of Williamsburg, Va.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., August 19 at St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Peters’ Parish Hall. Burial will be at the National born on Nov. 26, 1926 to the late Minnis Hendricks and Margaret Stigger Hendricks. He lived in the New River area until he moved to New Jersey in 1956 where he remained until the mid 1970s. During the time he was in New Jersey, he successfully owned and operated a long haul trucking business. Upon returning to Pulaski, Minnis became a faithful and loyal member of First Baptist Church (West Dublin) Virginia where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Treasurer until his illness made it impossible for him to attend services. But his ministry didn’t end there, while he was a resident at both Pulaski and Radford Rehabilitation Center’s he often ministered to the other patients and encouraged them in the Lord.
He was death by six sisters and one brother, Mary (David) Wolford, Dorethea (Cliff) Calloway, Naomi (Glen) Cobbs, Helen (Stewart) Black, Lottie (Joe) Smith, Beatrice (Winston) Arnold and Harry Hendricks.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 10 years, Fannie M. Hendricks; children, Minnis T. Hendricks IV and wife Ann, Md., Larry Edward Hendricks, S.C., Patricia Gail Hendricks, Pulaski; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ada and Leon Sherman, Christiansburg, Guy Hall, Jr., Christiansburg, M. Carolyn Hill, Pulaski, Joeann McClanahan, Pulaski; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Hill Stigger, Pulaski; a host of nieces, nephews, caring relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday at the First Baptist Church (West Dublin) with the Rev. Hawthorne Reed officiating. Cemetery (Mine Road), Pulaski. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski.

GILMER MARVIN GALLIMORE
STONY POINT, N.C. – Gilmer Marvin Gallimore, age 63 a resident of 235 Riggs Road, Stony Point Born May 1, 1941 in Pulaski County, Virginia a son of the late William L. and Vinecy Dalton Gallimore. Prior to his illness, he was employed in textile as a rewinder. Mr. Gallimore was Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. George Freedale. The family will assemble at the home of Mack and Sarah Chapman, 2386 Old Mountain Road, Statesville and will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Reavis Funeral Home in Statesville. The family of Mr. Gallimore is being served by Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville.

PULASKI – John William Edmonds, Jr. age 52 of 131 16th Street, Pulaski departed this life on Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
