RUTH EVELYN W. HARDY
NEWBERN – Ruth Evelyn W. Hardy age 73 of Newbern died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Houston and Gennoa Davis Brunk. She was preceded in Funeral service will be Tuesday 7:30 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home conducted by Rev. J. P. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Dublin Baptist Church with the Dr. David Hoagland officiating. died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C., after a courageous seven year battle with Hepatitis C. Karen was an insurance agent with Fox Insurance. She enjoyed reading and was very talented in home decorating and landscaping with her flower gardens. As an outdoors person, she loved camping and animals, especially dogs. Karen is survived by her husband Edgar Johnson, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va., who fought the battle with her every step of the way. One daughter, Ashley DeHart of Roanoke, Va. One stepdaughter, Angela Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Her parents, Bill and Jean Thompson of Dublin, Va. One brother, Steve Thompson and wife, Shirley of Dublin, Va. Her father and mother-in –law, Edgar and Opal Johnson of Roanoke, Va. Two sisters-in-law, Beverly Day and husband, Bill of Roanoke, Va., and Judy Hemmis and husband, Steve of Richmond, Va. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive, including a special cousin, David Duncan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Dublin Presbyterian Church, 409 Church Street, Dublin, Va., with Rev. Susan Cyre officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Rose Lawn funeral service and Crematory is serving the Johnson Family.

LENA LEONA RATLIFF KELLY

DUBLIN - Lena Leona Ratliff Kelly, age 94 of Dublin Born September 20, 1910 in Chilhowie, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Ratliff and Laura Sparks Ratliff. Her husband, Garnett Edward Kelly and son, Robert Malcolm Kelly, Sr., also preceded her in died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 in Charlottesville, Va. He was death by his wife, Thelma Louise Hubbard, by brothers, Henry, Ed, Luther and Jack Hubbard and by one sister, Marie Newcomb. He was retired from Coleman Furniture and Long-Airdox Company, Pulaski.
Surviving are: his sisters, Ruby Powell, Richmond, Ollie Mae Sexton, Bedford, Francis Pauley, Pulaski; children and spouses, Dorothy Peak, Pulaski, Thomas G. and Carolyn Hubbard, Christiansburg, Brenda and Jerry Viers, Pulaski, Linda and David Shaver, Pembroke, Jeannie and David Yoder, Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. Burial will follow in Oakwood born October 17, 1914 to Rev. J. T. and Maggie Baker. She was a longtime member of the Radford Worship Center. Ava was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend and will be truly missed. Her beloved husband of 69 years, Harvey B. Linkous preceded her in funeral service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radford Worship Center with Dr. Charles Franklin presiding. Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
