RADFORD - Nellie Almetie Simpkins Arney, 82, of Radford, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 1, 2005. She was a retired seamstress at Dublin Garment with 26 years of service. She was a loving and faithful wife and mother who worked hard all her life to give to her family and others. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert Lee Arney of Radford; a son, Donald Lee Arney of Ft. Chiswell; two daughters, Peggy Dishon of Altavista, and Linda Graves of Roanoke; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Tom Rice officiating. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Carilion Hospice Services, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141. DUBLIN - Lonnie Jackson (L.J.) Bassett, Jr., 78 of 4866 Ebb Hall Road, Dublin Born March 26, 1926 in Pulaski he was the son of the late Lonnie Jackson Bassett, Sr. and Helen Schrader Bassett. One sister, Ora Lee Marshall and one brother, Charles Edward Bassett also preceded him in funeral service. went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 1, 2005 at his home, 401 Sanford Street, Radford. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for several years. He was retired from RAAP after joining an elite group of 30 year employees. He was a shift supervisor in C line. He first came to RAAP in 1940 to help get the plant underway. He was trained in Kenvil before transferring to Radford. He was a U. S. Marine Corp. Sergeant having served during WWII and served in the South Pacific for 2 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Radford Christian Church. He was preceded in Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of V. F. W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. DRAPER - Agnes Lilly Rupe Gleason, age 88 of 4167 Old Route 100 Road, Draper Born May 29, 1916 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Stuart Crockett Rupe & Bessie Wheeling Rupe. Her husband, Henry Thomas Gleason, one son, Robert Gleason and one brother, Samuel Rupe also preceded her in funeral service will be conducted Sunday 2:00 P.M. at the Thornspring United Methodist Church died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Grove Manor Nursing Home, PA.
She was death by a nephew, Jonathan McRae.
A Interment will follow in the church went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at her home.

EVELYN ELEANOR RATLIFF TILLEY
PULASKI – Evelyn Eleanor Ratliff Tilley, 90, departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005 at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin. death by her husband, David Ray Tilley; a brother, Robert Lee Ratliff, Jr.; and a sister, Lena Ratliff Kelly.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include a devoted daughter, Dreama D. Cox of Pulaski; a son and his wife, David Michael and Cheryl Hash Tilley of Claytor Lake, Dublin; grandchildren Randall James Weatherford of Lynn, Massachusetts; Shelly M. Weatherford of Claremont, North Carolina; Michael B. Tilley and Matthew C. Tilley, both of Claytor Lake, Dublin; and a great grandson, Jarrod Weatherford of Claremont, North Carolina. Also missing her greatly is her ten year-old canine best friend, Reebok, who could always make her smile.
Mrs. Tilley worked for several years as office manager of Tilley Paint Company, and was later employed to care for residents of Randolph House. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Pulaski, she was active in the Pulaski Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of the Pulaski Business and Professional Women’s Club.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at Stevens Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service and died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at Virtua West Jersey Hospital in Marlton. He was 71. Jessie was death by his wife, Dorothy Myers Bond and preceded in Interment was private. Memorial contributions in Jessie’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Southern Regional Chapter, 1060 Kings Hwy N., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.

HIWASSEE – Lloyd M. Boyd, age 52 of 5582 Boyd Hill Lane, Hiwassee Born Nov. 2, 1952 in Pulaski County he was the son of the late Lloyd Thurman and Lillian Marie Nunn Boyd.
Surviving are: his fiancé, Elizabeth Dean, Hiwassee; papa’s special buddies, Tiffany, Christina and Summer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Clarence Sheets, Hiwassee, Opal and Warren Sheets, Pulaski, Rosetta and Danny O’Dell, Hiwassee, Brenda Rigney, Draper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Nancy Boyd, Hiwassee, Calvin and Barbara Boyd, Hiwassee; special nephew, Jeffrey Sheets, Hiwassee; 20 nieces and nephews, 38 great nieces and nephews, two great great nieces.

PULASKI – Sarah Nixon, of Pulaski, born on Oct. 24, 1972, the daughter of Richard and Ellabea Webb. God sent one of his angels to Pulaski to escort Diane home to be with him.
