He was Funeral service will be Friday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at the New Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Radford with the Rev. Barbara Doyle officiating. Burial will be at the Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.

PULASKI – Maggie Lee Owens Akers, age 76 of 111 17th Street, Pulaski Born September 28, 1928 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late James Davis Owens and Mary Minnie Hill Owens. Her husband, Charlie Durwood Akers and one sister, Minnie Ellen Taylor, also preceded her in Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 a.m. until service hour at Bower Funeral Chapel.

DUBLIN – Carrie Gravely Davis, of Dublin, died June 28, 2005 as a result of a drowning accident. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be anytime Thursday after 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

PULASKI - Alice Mae Surratt Largen, 85, of Pulaski, departed this world Friday June 24, 2005. cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting was held Sunday evening from the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

VELMA TURMAN KING
NEWBERN - Velma Turman King, age 94 of Newbern, Born May 20, 1911 in Floyd County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lucindia Quesenberry Turman and Tildon Turman. She was a retired employee of Virginia Maid Hosiery Mill with 33 years of employment, a member of the Newbern Christian Church with 40 years of membership, a member of the New River Historical Society, and she loved gardening, especially roses. In addidtion to her parents, she was preceded in Interment will follow in Newbern Born January 12, 1927 in Tazewell, Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rosa Collins Patrick. In addition to her parents, she preceded in Born in Dinwiddie County January 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Hattie Bond Surratt.
Surviving are: her husband, George W. Largen, Jr., Pulaski; daughters and sons -in-law: Kathy and Michael Hodge, Barbara and Roy Haley, all of Christiansburg and Bonnie and Danny Taylor, Pulaski; sons and daughter-in-law: Donald and Judy Largen, Elliston, Va. and Jeff Largen of Pulaski; sister, Violet Surratt, Pulaski; 11 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; special nieces: Joyce, Lucinda and Kathleen; a special nephew: Freddie, Roger.
Funeral services will be held today June 27 at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Philip Moran officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at his home.
Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
