RADFORD - Darlene Ruby Lytton Young, 59 of Radford, death by her parents Robert S. and Christine A. Lytton, a brother Jack Lytton, two nieces, Michelle Huffman, Becky Earles and two great nieces, Cortney and Caitlin Huffman.
Survivors include a son, Danny Young of Snowville; two daughters, Tina Owens of Snowville; Donna Johnston of Christiansburg; two brothers, Roy Lytton of Radford; and Mike Lytton of North Carolina; a sister, Grace Duncan of Graysontown; seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, at Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Frankie Graham, Rev. Neil Wood, and Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 9 East Church Ave., Roanoke, VA 24011.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
CECILE MAE HILL GRAVLEY
DUBLIN – Cecile Mae Hill Gravley, age 72, of Dublin, death by her husband Edward Lee Gravley and a brother Cloyd S. Hill, Jr.
Surviving, are a son Edward Dean Gravley, Dublin, a daughter, Katherine Juanita Gravley, Dublin, two grandchildren Theron D. Webb and Shameka D. Webb, a half-brother, Richard Thomas, Pulaski, four half-sisters, Barbara Hutchison, Dublin, Margaret Hill, Pulaski, Mary Jo Jamison, Richmond and Terrie St Claire, Charlotte, N.C.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Tom Rice officiating. died July 14, 2005. He was death by his parents Nelson H. Boan, Sr. and Virginia Thomas Boan, and by his wife Janice K. Boan. Two sisters, Jane Benton and Elizabeth Shumate, two nieces, four nephews, many cousins, and countless friends survive him.
He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1958. He returned to Pulaski in 1986 to open the Renaissance Restaurant on Main Street, Pulaski.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 144 N. Washington Street, Pulaski, Va. at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2005.
JAMES EVERETTE MCPEAK
WINCHESTER, VA. – James “Dude” Everette McPeak, 84, of Cutshaw Court, Winchester, Va., “went home,” Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Va. death by four brothers, Harold D. McPeak, Kern J. McPeak, Cloyd A. McPeak, and Daniel T. McPeak. He retired from Federal Mogul in Winchester, Va. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Hancock Assembly of God and Agape Christian Church in Winchester, Va.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Jackson McPeak; one daughter, Vivian K. Bernherd of Needmore, Pa.; four sons, Victor K. McPeak, Hedgesville, West Va., Gregory S. McPeak, Winchester, Va., James E. Reed, New Castle, Pa., and James W. McPeak of Hagerstown, Md.; three sisters, Alma M. DeCosta, Pulaski, Roberta M. Sebresos, Mililani, Hawaii, and Norma M. Miller, Dublin; three brothers, Henry G. McPeak, Dublin, Aaron J. McPeak, Radford, and Clifford E. McPeak, Moonachie, N.J.
Services were held Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Cedar Grove Christian Church, Warfords, Pa., with a military graveside service following.
ROBERT LEE GIBSON
WYTHEVILLE - Robert Lee Gibson, age 94 of Wytheville, Va. born February 6, 1911 in Wythe County, son of the late Robert L. and Pearl Akers Gibson.
He was a member of Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church and had operated the Wytheville Cannery for 35 years and was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Gibson was preceded in Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant born August 26, 1927 was met at Heavens gate by his mother Clara Heaton LaRoche, daughter Lorella LaRoche Pitts, sister Vivian LaRoche Baughman and mother-in-law Ann L. Leeson.
His survivors include his wife and best friend of 30 years Velma Leeson LaRoche, two daughters, two sons and their spouses, eight grandchildren and 22 surrogate grandchildren, numerous sisters and brother in laws, relatives in Canada, and many friends.
Roy fought a courageous battle with cancer and was buried
in the Andrew Johnson National passed away Monday, February 14, 2005. She was preceded in Interment will follow in the West View died Monday, February 14, 2005. She was death by her husband, Fred "Ab" Slusher and a brother, John W. Morgan, Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Sally Hendrix of Radford; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Radford with Rev. O. Wendell Manuel officiating. PULASKI - Ruth Marshall Kemp, 71 of Pulaski, Born December 14, 1933 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Southern Marshall and Frank W. Marshall. She was a former employee of Jefferson Mills, and a member of Newbern Christian Church. She is survived by her husband Archie Walter Kemp: 1 daughter Leigh Ann Owen of Dublin: 3 sons; Dean Kemp of Dubin, Vic Kemp of Pulaski, and Terry Kemp of Pulaski: 3 sisters; Louise Fitzgerald of Dublin, Mary Jo Leedham of Spring, TX, and Frances Akers of Severn, MD. Also survived by 5 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons, with the Rev. John Murphy officiating. passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was death by an infant son, Troy Daniel Akers, three brothers, Arthur, Clayton and James Akers and three sisters, Lillian Bradford, Mildred Lackey and Pauline Marshall. Daniel was a self-employed mechanic.
Surviving are: his wife, Charlene Akers; three sons, Brian Akers, Barren Springs, Michael Anthony Akers, Daniel Scott Akers, both of Pulaski ; one step-son, James Newton, U. S. Army, Kuwait; two step-daughters, Rachel Lane, Pulaski, Ashley Newton, Elliston; four brothers, Claude Akers, Barren Springs, Jack Akers, Dublin, Robert Akers, Pulaski, Douglas Akers, Max Meadows; three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Reese Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tommy Barnes officiating. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Mar. 1at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Christian Church death by her husband Ren McCoy Hubbard, four sisters, three brothers, and one grandchild. Surviving are one daughter, Loma Sue Sisson-Foster and her husband John of Radford; two sons, Robert M. Hubbard and his wife Faye, and Howard Douglas Hubbard and his wife Judy, all of Radford; seven grandchildren, Sandra Dalton, Larry Hubbard, Cory D. Hubbard and Renee Sowers of Radford, David Hubbard of Newbern, Daryl Sisson of Brandywine, Maryland, and Scott Sisson and his wife Sara of Shawsville. Three great grandchildren, Amanda Dalton, Amanda Sowers, and Rebekah Sisson also survive.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Fairlawn Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Lester Kennedy officiating. born August 23, 1918 in Pembroke, the daughter of the late Hallie Anderson and Geneva Chapman Anderson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg where she had served as a member of the senior choir. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, James Lewis Anderson of Frankfort, Germany and Roger Lee Wagner of Dublin; three sisters, Margret Armstead of Washington, D.C., Violet “Miller” Dickerson of Pearisburg, and Ruth Anderson of Rich Creek; special friends Jill and Edward Skidmore, Gloria Jean, Roy Fletcher, Yvone, Alma Mae, and Glenna; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday March 1, 2005 at noon at the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg with Rev. Michael Bratton officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Memory Garden in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. Penn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
CARRIE GRAVLEY DAVIS
DUBLIN – Carrie Gravley Davis, 83, of Dublin, Va. born in Carroll County on Oct. 1, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Rev. Monroe Gravley and Flora Gravley Gravley. She was also preceded in cemetery. Visiting will be Friday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
