WYTHEVILLE – Daniel Charlie McNeely, age 70, of Wytheville, Va. death by his father, F. James McNeely.
Surviving are: his wife of 34 years, Julie Jackson McNeely; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Bryan Bard of Wytheville; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Jeffrey and Mary McNeely of Barren Springs; his mother, India Martin McNeely of Wytheville; one sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Randy Frazier of Barren Springs; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William “Bill” and Marie McNeely of Draper, Holman and Christine McNeely of Max Meadows, Wayne and Jean McNeely of Barren Springs; several nieces and nephews also survive.
There will be no service. Friends and family may call at the residence at any time.

HERBERT GUY HALL, JR.
DRAPER – Herbert Guy Hall, Jr., passed away Mar. 9, 2005 at Pulaski Health Care Center. He was the son of the late H. Guy Hall and Margaret Gertrude Douthat Hall and was preceded in funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Ken Pierce at Draper’s Valley Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Mar. 12 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church passed away Monday, Mar. 7, 2005 in Waddell Nursing Home. He was death by his first wife, Edna Murphy Robinson and his second wife, Elizabeth H. Melton Robinson; brother, Donald K. Robinson and an infant son. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Roger Caudell of Pulaski, Va.; Carol Ippolito of Boca Raton, Fla.; Sharon Knisley of Tampa, Fla.; Patricia and Michael Lowe of Gainesville, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Grayson and Tommie Robinson of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Helen Robinson, Galax. Va.; two sisters, Doris Stein of Mt. Airy, N.C. and Daisy Lawson of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; step-children and spouse, Linda and Bill Meador of Roanoke, Va., Darlene and Robert Weatherman, Galax, Va., Charlotte Melton of Winston-Salem, N.C.; eight grandchildren and spouses, Angela K. and Ben Razidlo, Heather K. and John Boney, Crescent L. Johnson, Stephanie L. and Rick Wells, Shannon and Natalie Caudell, Shawn and Leigh Ann Caudell, Brett Jones and Alex Robinson; eight great-grandchildren, Michael and Chris Secrest, Jacob, Caitlyn, and Wes Caudell, Christopher and Nicholas Johnson and Amber Wells; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church and was retired as manager of Dairy Herd Improvement, Inc., Va. Tech., Blacksburg; and a veteran of World War II. The cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated, however; contributions may be made to either Savannah United Methodist Church or Mt. Vale United Methodist Church.

JOYCE ROBERTSON VEST
DUBLIN – Joyce Robertson Vest, 54 of the Little Creek community, Dublin born at Poplar Hill, Va. on May 10, 1950 the daughter of the late Ernest Howard and Clara Lindsey Robertson. Also preceded in Cemetery, Dublin. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home.
HARRELL CALVIN SAYERS
DRAPER – Harrell Calvin Sayers, 80, of Draper, Va. born in Pulaski County on Feb. 20, 1925 and was the son of the late Henry C. Sayers and Edna Calfee Sayers. Mr. Sayers was a member of the Memorial Christian Church in Draper, Va.
Surviving are: his devoted wife of 52 years, Maggie Lawson Sayers, Draper; sons and daughters-in-law, H. Cecil and Roslyn Sayers, Pulaski, Paul C. and Mary Sayers, Pulaski; three special grandchildren, Brandyn M. Sayers, Nathan F. Sayers, Alison P. Sayers; step-grandchildren, Jacob Hall, Joshua Hall; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Mar. 8, 2005 at 8 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Visiting will be Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Memorial Christian Church died Sunday, Mar. 6, 2005 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John C. and Minnie Cox Warf. She was preceded in Funeral service will be Tuesday 8 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel. The died Mar. 5, 2005 in the Hattiesburg Convalescent Center, Hattiesburg, Miss. She was death by her husband, John Wendall Hall, three brothers, Archie Kitts, Clifford Kitts, Danny Kitts.
Surviving are: her daughter, Mary Nell West, Laurel, Miss.; brother, John Kitts, Clinton, Miss.; sister, Mary Kitts, Norfolk, Va.; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The interment at Bethlehem Baptist Church passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served during the Korean War. He retired in 1985 from the UAW Union and GM Auto Factory. He was preceded in Interment will follow in the Greenwood passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005. She was married George Thomas Tipton, an attorney of Kingsport, who was killed in action in World War II. In 1948 she death by a sister, Madeline Clemens of Kingsport, TN. Mrs. Weddle was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Radford. Survivors include three sons, George Thomas Tipton of Lake Wylie, SC, William H. Weddle, Jr., and Robert Lee Weddle, all of Radford; a sister, Isabel Taylor of Kingsport, TN; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford with Rev. Kris Krammer officiating. died Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Lake Taylor Hospital.
Mr. Hirst was married to his wife, the late Margaret Jane Fagan Hirst, for 54 years.
Mr. Hirst graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1941 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in England and in San Francisco, where he met his wife. He left active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel and continued to serve as a reserve officer.
Before coming to Norfolk, Mr. Hirst had worked for Southern Railway (1946-49), had been Town Manager of Pearisburg (1949-1952) and Pulaski (1952-1956), had been City Manager of Martinsville (1956-1965) and Roanoke (1965-1972), and had been the Executive Director of the Virginia Municipal League in Richmond (1972-1975). He was City Manager of Norfolk from 1975 until his retirement in 1986. He also took on the position of acting City Manager of Cape Charles after his retirement
In addition to his public office, Mr. Hirst held many positions on boards and committees within his community, and was well-known as a public speaker. Among his many affiliations were: the American Red Cross Tidewater Chapter Board of Directors, the American Red Cross Mid-Atlantic Regional Blood Services Board, Leadership Hampton Roads, the Norfolk Kiwanis Club, the Norfolk Senior Olympics, the Volunteer Connection of South Hampton Roads, the Hampton Roads Council of the Navy League, the Junior League of Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Leeís Friends, the Governorís Education Block Grant Advisory Committee, the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce, the City of Norfolk Electoral Board, and the Episcopal Church Home Board. He had also been a Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Virginia and was a Range Rider for the International City Managers Association. He had been a partner and Chairman of the Board of J.T. Hirst & Co.in Leesburg, VA, a Lumber and building supply business his Father established in 1927
Mr. Hirst was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church, and had served on the vestry at Good Shepherd Church in Norfolk.
Mr. Hirst is survived by his children, J. Terry Hirst, II, of New York, David T. Hirst (and his wife, Paula) of Virginia Beach, and Jane Hirst Green (and her husband, David) of Altavista; his grandchildren, Townshend Hirst, Emma Green, and Mollie Green; and his sister, Jane Hirst Bogle (and her husband, A.D.). In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Margaret Fagan Hirst, and his sister, Anne Hirst Pollard.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, March 1, at Church of the Good Shepherd, Norfolk with the Rev. Robert Davenport officiating. He will be buried
