MINNIE ADA McGLOTHLIN JARRELLS
HIWASSEE - Minnie Ada McGlothlin Jarrells, age 85 of Little Irish Road, Hiwassee, Virginia Born September 29, 1919 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late William Jay McGlothlin and Minnie Ann Sutherland McGlothlin. Her husband, Albert Early Jarrells; great grandson, Trevor Jarrells; four brothers, Bates McGlothlin, Robert McGlothlin, Harold McGlothlin and Kelly McGlothlin; and two sisters, Dorcus Jarrells, and Elizabeth Wyrick preceded her in Interment will follow at Trail Family passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005 on her 76th birthday at her home in Radford. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Tabernacle. Survivors include her husband, Troy Duncan of Radford; five daughters, Linda Bishop, Loretta Gay White, and Nancy Kay Lytton, all of Radford, Catherine Marie Hall of Roanoke, and Shirley Ann Hutcherson of Nashville, TN; two sons, Charles Ray Duncan of Dublin, and Ricky Wayne Duncan of Christiansburg; two sisters, Mildred Albert of Pearisburg and Betty Jane Skaggs of Radford; 8 grandchildren 8 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunrise Burial Park with Rev. Earnest Fulcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

CHARLES CLIFFORD UNDERWOOD
DUBLIN – Charles Clifford Underwood, age 66 of Dublin Born Oct. 24, 1938 in Pulaski County he was the son of the late Charles Thomas and Lucy Davis Underwood. One brother, Richard Underwood, and one sister, Myrtle Rigney also preceded him in Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin where the Pulaski V.F.W. Post #1184 will conduct full military honors.

The family will receive friends from Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. The Odd Fellows of Virginia will conduct an Odd Fellow memorial service Thursday at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

EDWARD MICHAEL BOWERS
PULASKI - Edward Michael Bowers, 61, of Pulaski, death by a daughter, Kelly Farley and a brother, Clayton Bowers. Survivors include his wife, Kay T. Bowers of Draper; a daughter, Leslie Lynn of Dublin; two step-daughters, Angela Price of Ohio and Tracy Spangler of Shawsville; four grandchildren and four step-granddaughters; a brother, Coolidge Bowers of Northern Virginia; and a sister, Shirley Bralley of Madison Heights. Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Dallas Vines officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. DOROTHY LONG BURTON
DUBLIN - Dorothy Long Burton, 77, of Dublin, death by her former husband, John O. Burton. Survivors include a son, Rick Long of Roanoke; two daughters, Kendra Jarrells of Dublin and Sherry Scheibner of Franklin, WV; three sisters, Betty Thomas of Christiansburg, Arlene Foutz of Roanoke, and Pauline Dickerson of Winston-Salem, NC; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rockford United Methodist Church with Rev. John Grimm officiating. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006 or the American Heart Association, Memorials & Tributes Processing Center, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.

WILLIAM MICHAEL 'BILLY' MABRY
RADFORD - William Michael "Billy" Mabry age 56, of Radford, death by his parents, Jesse Lee and Ruby Howell Mabry, and a half- brother, Bobby L. Mabry. Survivors include his wife, Sherry V. Mabry of Christiansburg; three daughters, Kimberly Mabry Alls of Troutville, and Sherry Mabry Pelkey and Sara Beth Mabry, both of Radford; stepdaughter, Sherry D. Hess of Radford; two sisters, Peggy M. Bibb of Dublin and Linda Vaught of Radford; one half-brother, Lacy Eugene Mabry of Roanoke; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rockford United Methodist Church with Rev. John Grimm officiating. passed away on Sunday, Mar. 13, 2005. He was death by his parents, Langford and Nannie Ratcliff; brothers, Coy, Dennis, Ernest, Gilbert, Dennis and Piney Ratcliff; a sister, Stella Effie Ratcliff Bratton; his first wife, Mabel Hagee Ratcliff; daughter, Martha N. Kirby; and a granddaughter, Heather Marie Kirby. His surviving family include his wife, Margaret Kirby Ratcliff; stepsons, Raymond and Gary Kirby; stepdaughters and husbands, Judy and Mark Taylor, Cindy and Neil Rider; granddaughter, Megan Kirby; sister, Lucille and her husband, Hensel Jones; son-in-law, Randy Kirby; step-grandchildren, Kelsey, Nicholas, Andrew, Kristin, Zachary, Levi, and Aaron; and numerous special nieces and nephews. A Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Salem on Tuesday, Mar. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Garnett’s family would also like to thank their neighbors and friends for the acts of kindness shown to him over the years. LT. COL. RET. DONALD WHITE GLENN
Lt. Col. Ret. Donald White Glenn, 87, born in Pulaski County on July 29, 1917 and was the son of the late James R. Glenn and Elizabeth White Glenn. He was also preceded in Cemetery, Pulaski with Rev. Ken Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends at the home Wednesday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Friends of the Library or the Pulaski Humane Society.

FRANCES IRENE BRALLEY STALLINGS
DUBLIN – Frances Irene Bralley Stallings, age 83 of Maple Garden Apartments, Dublin Born April 14, 1921 in Pulaski, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Alice Quesenberry Bralley. Three sisters, Inez Fanning, Forest Horton and Miram Campbell also preceded her in Interment will follow at the Old Dublin passed away Monday, Mar. 28, 2005 in the New River Valley Medical Center. He was death by two sons, Julian Ivere and Thomas Morton. He served in the military during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, West Street, Radford there he was a member of the Men’s Chorus and Mass Choir and Senior Choir. He was also Deacon of FBC, and Father of the Church. Mr. Morton retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad with 42 years of service.

Surviving are: his wife, Christine C. Morton, Radford; one daughter, Lillian (Jerry) Wyms of Radford; five sons, Arthur (Connie) Morton, Chesapeake, Va., James (Linda) Morton, Papillion, Neb., Prince Edward (Zetta) Morton, Franklin, Va., David (Lilly) Morton, Radford, Va., Joseph (Pamela) Morton, Pulaski, Va.; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lucille Proctor, West Hempstead Long Island, N.Y. and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 1 at First Baptist Church, West Street, Radford with the Pastor Corin C. Casey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Garden, Fairlawn, Va. Wake will be Thursday, Mar. 31 from 6-8 p.m.

EVELYN LOVERN POWELL
ROCKY MOUNT – Evelyn Lovern Powell, 79, of Rocky Mount, Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church funeral service 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.

Beatrice Mitchell Covington
RADFORD - Beatrice Mitchell Covington, affectionately known as "Bea," departed this life on March 28, 2005, comforted by the presence of her husband, Radford University President, Dr. Douglas Covington, and two sons Anthony and Jeffrey.

She departed this life as she had lived it - with peace of mind, a loving spirit, a courageous heart, and a complete trust in God.

In addition to her husband and sons, she is survived by a devoted sister, Ozzie Mitchell Topps, and brother, Rev. Arthur Mitchell of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christopher Slade Covington and Marie Covington; and an extensive family of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2005 from 6-8pm at the Radford Church of God in Christ (206 Russell Avenue, Radford, VA). The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and The Links, Inc. will conduct a memorial ritual at 7pm, open to all who wish to attend. Thefuneral service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 1pm at Grove United Methodist Church (1020 Tyler Avenue, Radford, VA). Arrangements by Penn Funeral Home, Pulaski, VA, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Covington Scholarship Fund at the Radford University Foundation.
