Dies Sunday
APRIL 20 - Elisha Edward "Ted" Hodges, Jr., of Farmville, born in Halifax County, December 20, 1932 and was 71 years of age. He was the son of the late Elisha Edward Hodges and Helen Palmer Hodges.
Mr. Hodges was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Boston, former member of Farmville Rotary Club and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity of Wake Forest College. He attended Wake Forest and the University of Richmond. He retired after 49 years as a tobacconist, first with J.P. Taylor Tobacco Company, then with Universal Leaf Tobacco Company. He served in Argentina, Venezuela and Europe. He was president of Dunnington Beach Tobacco Company in Farmville from 1974 to 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara C. Hodges; two daughters, Terri H. Holt and husband, Teddy of South Boston and Sharon H. Gray of Charlotte, NC; one son, Elisha Edward Teddy" Hodges and wife, Sarah of Farmville and five grandchildren, Emily Grey Holt and Edward Tyler Holt both of South Boston, Richard Edward Gray of Chapel Hill, NC, Elizabeth Redd Hodges and Kyle Perkins Hodges of Farmville.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, South Boston, with the Rev. Doug Martin conducting the service. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge died Friday, April 9, 2004 at her home.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Gunter Burnley; four daughters, Wanda and husband, Kirby Stinson, Jr. of Wingina, Brenda and husband, John Childress of Gladstone, Rebecca Burnley of Wingina and Diane and husband, Richard McCormick of Gladstone; one son, Wayne Burnley of Wingina and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Maple Grove Pentecostal Church with cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
'Eddie' Covington, 58
PAMPLIN, April 8 - Edgar Morris "Eddie" Covington, 58, of Pamplln, Born in Lynchburg, April 24, 1945, he was a son of Ruby Ferguson Covington of Appomattox and the late Henry Judson Covington.
Mr. Covington was a farmer and member of Elon Baptist Church, Moose Lodge #975 and the Appomattox Farm Bureau.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Cindy C. Burnette and husband, Walter of Brookneal, Cristina and Brittany Covington of Bedford; a granddaughter, Renny Burnette of Brookneal; two stepchildren, Jon Hammer and wife, Robin of Evergreen and Renna H. Glover and husband, Michael of Forest; a brother. Henry Earl Covington and wife, Jean of Appomattox and a sister. Pat C. Dickens and husband, John of Harrisonburg.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the Swan Family died Wednesday, April 7, 2004.
She was interment in Marble Hill Church of God interment in the Eanes Family interment in the Hardaway Family died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Holly Manor Nursing Home.
She and her husband of 50 years, Don L. Martin, were Born October 3, 1932, in Hughesville, she was the daughter of Arl and Viola Kepner Evans.
In addition to her husband, Don, of Farmville, she is survived by two sons and daughters - in - law, Eric and Sharon Martin of Richmond and Jeff and Sandy Martin of Muncy; one daughter and son - in - law, Crystal and Johnny Whitaker of Muncy; two sisters, Ida Gordner of Muncy and Sarah Opp of Picture Rocks, PA and six grandchildren, Thaddeus and Zachary Martin of Muncy, Kayla and Kevin Martin of Richmond and Amy and Carla Whitaker of Muncy.
A graveside service was held 11 a.m. Saturday in Muncy died Saturday, April 3, 2004 in Farmville.
He was death by his sisters, Dorthea Blank Wynn, Helen Mallery and Donna Lee Wood; his brother, Harry Heaton Silsby and his nephew. Dr. Mike Blank.
A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Friday at Spring Creek Baptist Church, Darlington Heights. The remains will be buried
in DeSoto, MO.

RICHMOND, April 6 - Mary Walsh Partlow, of Richmond, interment in Old Green Creek Church, Cumberland. Mr. Evans born August 29, 1952, a son of the Reverend John D. Evans of Farmville and the late Irene Saunders Evans.
Mr. Evans worked for Winn - Dixie for 31 years and began working as manager for Dillwyn Supermarket In February, 2004.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christine Young Evans; two daughters, Eugenia Carter and Altovise Evans both of Cumberland; stepmother, Mary Fowlkes of Farmville; step - mother - in - law, Esterlyn Young of Farmville; one sister, Irene Helen Siplin of Brooklyn, NY; four brothers, Abraham L. Evans, John E. Evans and Alvin L. Evans all of Farmville and Fred D. Evans of Prospect; one son - in - law, Kim Carter of Cumberland; two grandchildren, Tiera L. Carter and RaShawn Carter of Cumberland and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and two devoted buddies. Earl Hamilton and James Scott. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jessie Evans.
