DECEMBER 30 - Harkins Arthur Kelly, 83, born November 18, 1920 in Dickenson County, Virginia, a son of the late Sally Baker Kelly and Harkins Andrew Kelly.
A retired farmer, he was the widower of the late Christine Ferguson Kelly and Frances Fleming Kelly Pugh.
He is survived by five daughters, Dorothy K. Perry and her husband, Victor of Morehead, KY, Mary K. Farrell and her husband, James of Rice, Phyllis K. Gilbert of Farmville, Joyce K. Fore and her husband. Buckle of Farmville and Nancy K. Wood and her husband. Billy of Church Road; three sons, Eugene Kelly and his wife, Martha of Powhatan, Dennis Kelly and his wife, Brenda of Scottsville and Arthur Kelly of St. Louis, MO. A fourth son, Gary preceded him in death by three brothers and two sisters.

RICHMOND, Dec. 30 - Gladys Robertson Spurlock, 68, of Richmond, death.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Earl Spurlock; a son, Greg Spurlock; a daughter, Patti Hodges: two grandchildren, Karl and Will Hodges; her father, William Robertson, Sr.; a brother, William Robertson, Jr.; two sisters, Shirley King and Elizabeth Monk.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the Woody Funeral Home, Richmond, with died Monday, December 22, 2003 in Hancock Hall, Danbury, CT following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Cleary Pelletier, who born in Elizabeth, NJ on September 26, 1911, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Anna Ward Lutz. While living in Closter, she worked as a secretary and real estate agent with the former Pelletier Agency. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the America Legion in Closter, and also a member of St. Mary's Choir there.
In 1980, she and her husband relocated to Dillwyn, and remained there for 12 years. Here she was active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in nearby Farmville and was a communicant in Buckingham County at the Church of the Nativity.
Survivors include four daughters, Maryann Pelletier - Brooks and her husband, Bryan of Zaragoza, Spain, Margaret Bartenhagen and her husband, Nick of Brattleboro, VT, Jeanne Sanna and her husband, Mark of Ridgefield, CT and Claire Pelletier of Linden, NJ; grandchildren, Erik Bartenhagen and is wife, Nicole Noel, Jessica Bartenhagen, Matthew Sanna and Meredith Sanna.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown, CT. The Rev. Mark E. Grimes, Parochial Vicar, officiated. The Cemetery, Buckingham County.

Elihu C. Ellett. Jr., 85
DECEMBER 30 - Elihu C. Ellett, Jr., born April 6, 1918 in Jennings Ordinary, the oldest son of Elihu C. Ellett and Pattye Hubbard Ellett. He was preceded in died February 11, 1995.
He is survived by three sons, Clifford Paul Ellett of Richmond, Marshall L. Ellett of Farmville and Edward Carlton Ellett of Nottoway County; seven grandchildren; two great - grandchildren' his youngest brother, Joel Motley Ellett of Burkburnett, Texas and his youngest sister, Margaret Ellett Anderson of Alpharetta, Georgia,
Mr. Ellett attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a veteran of World War II, having served as both an enlisted man and officer. He was a former sheriff of Nottoway County and a retired farmer. He was a charter member of Post 7819 Veterans of Foreign Wars, served as commander of Post 50 American Legion, Lt. Commander Fourth District American Legion and Chairman Law and Order Committee, American Legion Department of Virginia.
He was active in many facets of the Nottoway County government. He served as chairman of the Nottoway County School Board Selection Committee. Mr. Ellett served on this commission and its predecessor, the Nottoway School Trustee Electoral Board, for over 15 years. He served as chairman of the Nottoway County Zoning Committee, served on the Road Review Board, the Nottoway Board of Assessors, and was Advisor to the Nottoway County Draft Board for 36 Years.
Mr. Ellett served as president of the Nottoway County Farmers Union and was a member of the executive committee of Virginia Farmers Union. He served as chairman of the Nottoway County Democratic Committee, President of the Burkeville Ruritan Club, Lt. Governor Ruritan National Appomattox District and President of the Burkeville Parent Teachers Association.
He was a member of Wards Chapel United Methodist Church, Jennings Ordinary, and served as Superintendent of Sunday School at Wards Chapel and as Superintendent of Sunday School at Barker Memorial United Methodist Church, Burkeville. Mr. Ellett served as charges lay leader Burkeville Charge United Methodist Church and taught the Men's Bible Class at Barker Memorial United Methodist Church in Burkeville for many years.

FISHERSVILLE, Dec. 25, Harriet Gibson Harris, a longtime resident of Fishersville, born December 6, 1909 in Augusta County, eldest daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Mattie Margaret (Linhoss) Gibson.
Survivors include a son, Edgar Lee Harris, Jr., of Fishersville; four daughters, Mrs. Ann C. Nelson of Waynesboro, Mrs. Judith H. Quick of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Bette L. Harris of Farmville, and Ms. Sherry L, Spaulding of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Merlin C. Gibson of Camp Hill, PA, and Vernon F. Gibson of Harrisburg, PA; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Her husband, Edgar Lee Harris, Sr., and two daughters, Helene H. Spaulding and Dorothy V. Harris, preceded her in died Monday, December 22, 2003 at Potomac Hospital.
Mrs. Allen was a teacher for the Fairfax County School System and was an Administrator for the Prince William County Schools. She was a member of the Prince William County Teacher Association and Phi Delta Kappa.
She is survived by her husband, Hunter M. Allen.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m, Sunday, December 28, at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 29. Cemetery.
