VIRGINIA BEACH, Nov. 13 - Robert Ernest Metcalfe, II, 69, of Virginia Beach, Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Robert E. (Bob) and Mary Wood Metcalfe. He spent much time with relatives in Buckingham.
Mr. Metcalfe retired from civil service with NAVSEA at Fort Story and later worked as a courtroom security officer in Virginia Beach. He was a member of Thalia United Methodist Church where he was an usher and member of United Methodist Men. He was a member of the American Legion and formerly active in the Boy Scouts. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of the University of Maryland.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ann Cook Metcalfe; a daughter, Maryann Metcalfe Bateman and her husband, Eric of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; a son, Robert E. Metcalfe, III and his wife, Lydianita of Panama City, FL; a brother, Stanley Metcalfe of Torrence, CA and five grandchildren, Brittany, MacKenzie and Chase Bateman of Texas and Cody and Abby Metcalfe of Florida.
A interment in Rosewood Memorial Park.

LYNCHBURG, Oct. 12 - George Fredrick "Ricky" Ziegler, Jr., 50, of 120 Willow Bend Drive, Lynchburg, Born December 30, 1953 in Farmville, he was the son of Ruth Perkins Ziegler Carson of Cullen and the late George F. Ziegler, Sr. Ricky was a faithful and dedicated employee of Seven Hills Auto Transporters for more than 15 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Meagan Craddock and her husband, Rob and Eric Daniel Ziegler, both of Lynchburg and Jody Lynn Ziegler of Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, NE; one brother, William Ziegler and his wife, Marie of Roanoke; four sisters, Margaret Kirkpatrick and her husband. Cliff of Lynchburg, Norma Kirby and her husband, Earl of Powhatan, Ann Howell and her husband, Frankie of Gretna and Gayle Phelps and her husband, Charles of Richmond, and was a very special "Poppy" to his grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob, and Zachary.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 14, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. Carl Weiser.
The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m. Whitten Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Timberlake Chapel, is serving the Ziegler family.

PROSPECT, Oct. 12 - A Interment was private at the Coleman family died Friday, October 8, 2004, in Farmville.
Mr. Coleman was death by his parents and his brothers, Melvin B. and Lloyd G. Coleman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Volunteer Fire Department or to the Glenn Memorial Baptist Church.

OCTOBER 12 - Funeral services for Vernon Carter Womack, 95, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Farmville Presbyterian Church, with Cemetery.
A retired Prince Edward County elected official for 40 years, Mr. Womack born in Prince Edward County, the son of the late Emmett Barksdale and Wilson Louisa Swan Womack on May 1, 1909.
He graduated from Prospect High School in 1927 at which time he accepted employment with Farmville Grocery Co. until 1940. During World War II, he was a member of Virginia State Guard and commander of Farmville Company with the rank of Captain.
He was a member and past president of the Virginia Court Clerk's Association, and honorary member and past president of Commissioners of the Revenue Association of Virginia. He was the charter member and past president of Farmville Jaycees, director emeritus and past president and past secretary of Southside Community Hospital Association. Mr. Womack was member of the Rotary Club of Farmville for over 60 years and past president, member and past grand master of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and a member of Farmville Modern Woodman of America.
He was a past director and past chairman of the Board of Directors of The First National Bank of Farmville. He was a member of Farmville Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon, elder and trustee.
He was preceded in funeral service will be held Thursday, October 14, at 1 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, with Cemetery, Farmville. Carl U. Eggleston Funeral Home.

OCTOBER 7 - Malvern Olivia "Lollie" Harris Hamilton, 101, of Farmville, born September 22, 1903 in Appomattox County, a daughter of the late Thomas Early and Loula Moore Harris. She was the widow of Joseph Henry Hamilton.
Mrs. Hamilton was a home - maker and long time resident of Charlotte County and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Madisonville.
She is survived by three daughters, Corinne H. Moore and her husband, Richard, Phyllis H. Walker and her husband, A. J. and June H. Wilkins and her husband, Curtis all of Farmville; one sister, Louise H. Dillon of Darlington Heights; five granddaughters and six great grandchildren.
A interment in the church died Tuesday, October 5, 2004. He was the husband of the late Ethel P. Smith.
He was the father of Donna Jane (Jim) Brown; grandfather of Caren (Joy Swantkowski) Brown, Susan Tutor and Colleen (Greg) Corliss; great grandfather of Brian S. Brown, Paris and Corwyn Tutor, Katelyn and Reagan Corliss; brother of Barbara Jean Powell and the late William Irving Smith. Also survived by a special friend, Vi Gibson.
