Rose Chapdelaine, 83
DILLWYN, Nov. 9 - Rose Etta Shumaker Chapdelaine, 83, of Dillwyn, born July 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Harrison W. Shumaker and Alice Jamerson Shumaker. She was the widow of Charles Chapdelaine.
She is survived by three sisters, Mabel S. Taylor of Dillwyn, Alice Beaulieu of Maryland and Edith Rowell of Alaska.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, with Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anna V. Howe, 86
Former Resident
Of Buckingham, Dies
RICHMOND, Nov. 9 - Anna Vanneman Howe, 86, born in Hyattsville, Maryland on March 21, 1918, but lived most of her life in Virginia with the exception of a decade spent living abroad. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Murrill Norton Howe.
While residing in Greece, she served as president of the American Women's Organization of Greece, Thessalonika Chapter. She also served as chairman of the USO of Northern Greece. She organized and managed many USO canteens for Navy and Marine personnel of the U.S. 6th Fleet. She was awarded numerous citations by fleet admirals and the captains of such vessels as the USS Midway, the USS Leyte, the USS Oriskany and the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Upon the family's return to Richmond in 1961, she continued to serve in leadership roles in civic organizations. She was president of the Southampton Guild, the Cavalier Garden Club and the Commonwealth Women's Club.
Mr. And Mrs. Howe lived in Buckingham County for 25 years at "The Tavern" which they restored. Mrs. Howe eventually succeeded in having "The Tavern" placed on the National Registry of Historic Homes.
Mrs. Howe served two terms as president of Buckingham Women's Club and was also chairman of the Republican Party of Buckingham County. She was an avid, lifelong, bridge player.
She is survived by four children, a son, Murrill Norton Howe, Jr. of Pine Knoll Shores, NC and three daughters, Anne Leigh Schaeffer of Jacksonville, PL, Sara Katherine Howe of Livingston, MT and Christina Howe Entwisle of Lower Gwynedd, PA: 11 grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at River Road Baptist Church with interment In Pisgah Baptist Church died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 after a lengthy illness.
She was a talented artist and seamstress and enjoyed sharing her many talents with family and friends.

BUCKINGHAM, Nov. 9 - Isabelle Gunter Wooten, 78, of Buckingham, born March 6, 1926 in Buckingham County, the daughter of the late Walter Clarence Gunter and Louise Dooley Gunter. She was the widow of James A. Wooten, Sr.
She is survived by her children, James A. Wooten, Jr., Mary W. Gowin, Walter Wooten and Sharon W. Pugh all of Buckingham and Vernon Wooten of Lynchburg; four sisters, Elizabeth Hartless of Troutville, Irene Farthings, Margaret Ogden and Sadie Campbell all of Lynchburg; brothers, Charles Richard (Dick) Gunter and Percy E. Gunter both of Lynchburg; 12 grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren. She was preceded in interment in the church died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at his residence.
He was died Tuesday, December 14, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred W. Ison; his children, Kawanah I. and Ralph "Stinky" Vannoy of Crewe, Kimberly I. and Jerry Takata of Big Island, Hawaii and Ulmont Randolph Ison and fiancé, Cynthia D. Ewing of Crewe; two grandchildren, Kelly Anne and Rebecca Dawn Snead of Crewe; his brothers, Clarence Ison and wife, Reva of Crewe, Lawrence Ison of Gordonsville and Leonard Ison and wife, Myna of Crewe; his sisters, Emma I. and husband, Jody Rainwater John - son of Crewe and Edna I. Clements of Crewe and his faithful companion, Buford T. Dog.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Jennings - McMillian Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to services. funeral service for Charles Ray Harding, 63, mayor of Keysville. was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Keysville United Methodist Church, with Cemetery. Mr. Harding died Thursday, December 9, 2004.
Mrs. Woolridge was a graduate of Prospect High School and attended Longwood College. She was a longtime member of Grandin Court Baptist Church, where she received in 1988 the Senior Citizen Award for service and faithful dedication. She was a member of Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs, Garden Gate Garden Club and the Thursday Morning Music Club.
She was preceded in funeral service was held at Oakey's South Chapel, Saturday, December 11 with the Rev. Carol Johnston and the Rev. Robert Hamner officiating. A graveside service followed in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery.
