COLLINSVILLE, Va. - Henry Lee Terry, 58, of 50 Norwood Drive, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at his residence.
Born Sept. 9, 1943, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Wilson Terry and Lena Anderson Terry.
He was employed at Tultex prior to retirement on disability, and was a member of Riceville Baptist Church.
He is survived by five sisters, Gaile Calloway and Bernice Clark, both of Java, Theresa Terry of Danville, Martha Lewis of South Hill and Shirley Terry of New York.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Emos and Roy Terry, and two sisters, Lettie Barley and Roxie Ann Butler.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Riceville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Gaile Calloway, 1800 Church Road, Java.

James Totten
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - James Waymon Totten of 1782 Harrelson Road, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, in the Brian Center Nursing Home in Yanceyville.
Born June 10, 1910 in Caswell County, he was the son of Tommy Totten and Lemma Johnson Totten.
He was married to Beatrice Williamson Totten, who predeceased him. He was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church where he was a deacon and was a member of the Dan River Masonic Lodge #490. He was a retired self employed farmer.
He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Totten Baynes of Silver Springs, Md.; three sons, Edgar (JC) Totten, Herly Totten and Irvin Totten, all of Yanceyville; five brothers, Henry Totten and Sherman Totten, both of Reidsville, Otis Totten and Robert Totten, both of Yanceyville, and Ulysses Totten of Washington, DC; one sister, Thelma Totten Wright of Yanceyville; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Cephus Lea officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church and at other times at the residence.

Tishie White
CHESTER, Penn. - Mrs. Tishie White, age 101 of 339 Kerlin Street, Chester, PA and formerly of Route 1, Chatham, died Friday night in the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Lima, PA.
Born September 7, 1900, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Lelia Washington Coleman. Her husband was the late Gable White. She was the last member of her immediate generation.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Java.
She is survived by two foster daughters, Emma White of Danville, VA and Lottie White Davis of Blairs, VA; two foster sons, Johnny White of Danville, VA and McCain (King) White of Chester, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday (07-18-02) at 1:00 P.M. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. R.L. Watkins with burial to follow in the Coleman Family Cemetery, Java, VA.
The family is at the residence of a niece, Mrs. Lottie Davis, 1676 Malmaison Road, Blairs, VA. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna, is in charge of the arrangements.
Lorene Barksdale
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Lorene Barksdale, 52, of 51 Jeanara Court, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at her residence.
Born July 19, 1950, she was a daughter of Freddie Younger, who predeceased her and Hilda Younger, who survives.
She was last employed by Dan River Mills and was a member of Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church.
She was married to Charles Henry Barksdale, who predeceased her.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Marcus Barksdale; a daughter, Natasha Barksdale, both of the residence; two sisters, Arnetha Davis of Chatham and Joyce Rumley of Axton; two brothers, Freddie McCoy Younger and Joseph Younger, both of Chatham and one granddaughter.
The funeral will be held at noon Thursday from the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Ferebee officiating. Interment will be in the Elba Cemetery.

Lula Hodge Church
CLOVER, Va. - Lula Hodge Church, 89, of 7179 Newbill School Road, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Duke University Medical Center.
Born March 17, 1913, in Boone, N.C., she was the daughter of Jeff Hodge and Annie Mitten Hodge.
She was a retired employee of Craddock-Terry.
She was married to Clinard Summers Church, who predeceased her.
She is survived by four sons, Clyde Church of Halifax, John Wayne Church of Clover, Glen Hodges and Jack Hodges, both of Ferguson, N.C.; a daughter, Annie C. Brown of Scottsburg; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The graveside funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Walker officiating.
The family received friends 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence of Clyde and Sharon Church, 1026 Spencer Lane, Halifax.

Tim S. Clark
DANVILLE, Va. - Tim S. Clark, of 4 Creekside Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 1, 1934, in Oakboro, N.C., a son of the late A. Lee Clark and Ethel Kepley Clark of Albermarle, N.C.
Mr. Clark attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a graduate of Catawba College.
He was associated with Dan River, Inc. for 45 years and at the time of his death was assistant vice president of Finance.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Danville Golf Club, the German Club and a former member of the Young Men's Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Steve Clark and his wife, Cindy, of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Carol C. Hammond and her husband, Charlie, of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, J.R. Clark of Oakboro, N.C.; a sister, Grace C. Mauldin of Albermarle, N.C. and Jean M. Swicegood of Danville, Va.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. from Townes Funeral Home Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Jonathan Hamman.
The family will receive friends following the service and at other times will receive friends at the residence, 4 Creekside Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Leukemia Society of America.
Rickey Nelson Dix
RINGGOLD, Va. - Rickey Nelson Dix, 44, of 747 Mountain Hill Road, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at his residence after six months of declining health.
Born Nov. 7, 1958, in Danville, he was a son of Willie Nelson Dix, who predeceased him and Onie Essie Wilson, who survives.
He lived most of his life in the Mountain Hill community of Pittsylvania County. He was employed for four years with B. Mack Construction Company prior to working four years in the sewing room of Dan River Mills. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two sons, Stoney Nelson Roberts and Charles Christopher Roberts, both of Danville; a sister, Lisa Dix Cox of Ringgold and a brother, Donald Ray Dix of Las Vegas, Nev.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glen Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Von Eime officiating. Interment will be in the Dix Family Cemetery in the Mountain Hill community.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

Christine Gammon Dodson
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Christine Gammon Dodson, 75, of 87 Oakview Loop Road, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at the Brian Center.
Born Oct. 27, 1927, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of Issac Drewy Gammon and Ollie Mable Gammon.
She was retired from Copeland Fabrics Inc. She was also a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She was married to Vernon D. Dodson, who predeceased her on Sept. 21, 2002.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Cross and Susan Mumford, both of Burlington; two sons, David Dodson of Yanceyville and Alan Dodson of Elon College; one sister, Thensa Willis of Mebane; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Underwood and the Rev. Carlton Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marley Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.

Mary Yates
RINGGOLD, Va. - Mary Shelton "Ma-Ma" Yates, 90, of 1660 Ringgold Road, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Danville Regional Medical Center Emergency Department after several years of declining health.
Born Oct. 7, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of John Cal-Houn Shelton and Mary Catherine Gibson Shelton.
She had lived all of her life in Pittsylvania County and lived most of her life in the Ringgold community. She was a homemaker. She and her husband had owned and operated the former Yates Strawberry & Vegetable Farm for many years. She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church.
She married Woodrow Sanford Yates on Dec. 24, 1932. He predeceased her on Aug. 5, 1988.
She is survived by a son, Danny Daves Yates of Danville; two daughters, Mary Sanford "Sandy" Amos of Ringgold and Sharon Yates Shelton of Sutherlin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, James Oliver Shelton; four sisters, Myrtle S. Lindsey, Lottie S. Lindsey, Jennie S. Moorefield and Gladys S. Hudson and one great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Carl Burger and the Rev. John Groff officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

Ronald Sutton Bradsher
MILTON, N.C. - Ronald Sutton Bradsher, 71, of 256 Royal Lane, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at his residence after a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 15, 1931, in Denver, Colo., he was a son of Jacob T. and Emily Jones Bradsher.
He retired from Liggett-Meyers Tobacco Company in 1991. He was educated in Person County schools and a member of Milton Presbyterian Church. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving during the Korean War.
He is survived by three sons, Ronald S. Bradsher Jr. of Blanch, J. Frank Bradsher of Cary and J. Preston Bradsher of Milton; three sisters, Ella Ray Bradsher Chacey of Graham, Jean Bradsher Scott of Milton and Martha Ann Bradsher Spencer of Jacksonville; two brothers, Dr. Jacob Thompson Bradsher Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. and Sidney Preston Bradsher of Wilmington and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Bradner Moorefield Bradsher and a brother, James F. Bradsher.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Milton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bruce Wheeler and the Rev. David Lefon officiating. Interment will be in Burchwood Cemetery, Roxboro.

Eva Searcy Dameron
DANVILLE, Va. - Mrs. Eva Searcy Dameron, age 85, of 623 Brooke Drive, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at the Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville, Va.
Mrs. Dameron was born in Washington County, Va. on June 10, 1917, a daughter of the late John C. Searcy and Nora Rush Searcy. She had spent most of her life in or near Danville, where she graduated from George Washington High School and received a degree in English at Averett College (A.A.) in 1935.
Although she has taught home-bound students and substituted in the Danville, Virginia Public School System, much of her adult life was spent as a housewife and mother. She was married to the late Russell O. Dameron, who died on September 12, 1978. Mrs. Dameron began writing poetry at an early age and has had a number of poems published in newspapers and periodicals. She served as a board member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in a number of church organizations such as the Suzanna Wesley Circle. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mrs. Dameron was predeceased by two sisters and one brother, Blanche Hughes, Gaynelle Gatewood and John C. Searcy Jr.
Surviving are four sons: Charles R. Dameron, Martinsville, John P. Dameron, Danville, Dale W. Dameron, Martinsville and David G. Dameron of Martinsville. One daughter: Sylvia D. Vaden, Nashville, Tenn. Two sisters: Gladys Laughlin, Pensacola, Fla. and Gloria Beitz, Green Valley, Ariz. Also ten grandchildren: Kenneth R. Dameron, Douglas A. Dameron, Julie E. Dameron, Melinda Vaden Tate, Dr. Laurel Vaden Altsentzer, Amy Vaden Biagini, John Christopher Dameron, Tara M. Dameron, Philip J. Dameron and Marcia Leigh Dameron. Also six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at 3 p.m. from the Townes Funeral Home Memorial Chapel by the Reverend Levi Stroud and the Reverend Linwood Daniel. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 1, 2003, from 2-3 p.m. before the service and at other times will be at the residence, 623 Brooke Drive.

Garnett B. Dodson
DANVILLE, Va. - Garnett B. Dodson, 90, of 1652 Franklin Turnpike, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1912, in Danville, he was the son of Joel E. Dodson and Rosa Lee Jarrett Dodson.
Most of his life was spent in Danville. For the last three years, he had lived at Outlook Pointe and for the past month he was a resident at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. He was self-employed.
He was a member of Schoolfield Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II U.S. Army, having served in the European Theater.
He was married to Eula Williford Dodson, who predeceased him on Feb. 5, 1988.
He was the last surviving member of his generation.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Schoolfield Baptist Church with the Rev. David R. Turbyfill and the Rev. Dr. John H. LaRue officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park with full military honors by American Legion Memorial Post #325.
