Mildred Fuller McGlaughlin
RALEIGH, N.C. - Mildred Fuller McGlaughlin, 90, of 4801 Edwards Mill Road, died Dec. 4, 2002, in the Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She had been in declining health for 6 years and in the hospital for the last three days.
Born Dec. 23, 1911, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Archer Lloyd Fuller and Mary Jessie Taylor Fuller.
Mrs. McGlaughlin had lived in Danville and in Myrtle Beach, S.C. prior to moving to Raleigh. She was educated in the Danville Public School System and attended the former Stratford College and Longwood College. Mrs. McGlaughlin was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church and a former member of the Danville Wednesday Club.
She was married to Cecil Webster McLaughlin on April 19, 1941. He predeceased her on Dec. 5, 1994.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Fuller McGlaughlin Sessoms and husband, Ronald, of Raleigh; one brother, Archer L. Fuller and wife, Betty, of Danville, Va; two nieces, Kitty Penn Fuller Soutter of Raleigh and Elizabeth Archer Fuller of Brevard; and one nephew, Davis Heatwole and wife, Sharolyn, of Richmond, Va.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverend Jonathan Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

George N. Miller Jr.
STAUNTON, Va. - George N. Miller Jr., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002.
George was born on Feb. 7, 1926, and raised with his sister, Ann, in Danville, Va. He was the son of George N. Miller Sr. and Virginia Williams Miller.
Upon graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After the war, he married Louise Blakiston Gross of York, Pa. George graduated from Penn State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and established his career with York Corporation in refrigeration design.
In 1965, he accepted a position with Westinghouse Corporation and moved his family to Staunton, Va. Several years later, he co-founded and became president of Coupling Corporation of America, involved in product design and fabrication until he retired.
During his retirement, he organized and taught adult education classes in engineering, became an active volunteer in the Republican party and enjoyed designing and building projects for his family and friends.
He was committed to community service and during his lifetime served in the York Township Planning Commission, the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad and the Staunton City Council.
George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Louise G. Miller of Staunton, Va.; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Huffman of Raleigh, N.C., Virginia B. Miller of Massanutten, Va. and Georgia C. Grimes of Aloha, Ore.; two sons, Charles W. Miller of Xenia, Ohio and G. Carter Miller of Massanutten, Va.; and nine grandchildren, Nic and Alex Huffman of Raleigh, N.C., Holly and Sarah Grimes of Aloha, Ore., Justin, Sam and Elizabeth Miller of Xenia, Ohio and Adam and Chad Miller of Massanutten, Va.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at the McDow Funeral Home by the Rev. Herbert Lewis. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Miller's name to the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Foundation, 706 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Irvin Overby 'Son' Stowe
DRY FORK, Va. - Irvin Overby "Son" Stowe, 96, formerly of Dry Fork Road, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 13, 1906, in Dry Fork, he was the son of Ulysses Grant Stowe and Rebecca Daniel Stowe.
He was a self-employed farmer and member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He was the last surviving member of his generation.
He was married to Lessie Shelton Stowe, who predeceased him in 1995.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas Stowe of Dry Fork and I.D. Stowe of Danville; a daughter, Ann Stowe Sigmon of Danville; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Wellons A. Stowe; a daughter, Isabelle Stowe Compton; four brothers, Henry Stowe, David Stowe, Major Stowe and Thomas Stowe; and two sisters, Elizabeth Stowe and Essie Stowe Herndon.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Hopewell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clay Knick and Pastor Bob Whalley officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family received friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Clara Lee Bryant Terry
DANVILLE, Va. - Clara Lee Bryant Terry, 95, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born Aug. 16, 1907, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of William Jackson Bryant and Molly Myers Bryant.
She was retired from Dan River Mills and worked in the #2 weave. She was a charter member of North Main Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and active in the WMU. She also volunteered at Danville Regional Medical Center.
She married to O. F. Terry Sr. in 1924. He predeceased her in 1957.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo Terry Crane and Virginia Mae Terry Tuck, both of Danville; one son, Marvin Bryant Terry of South Carolina; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son, O. F. Terry Jr.; one daughter, Patsy Spencer; three brothers, Howard Bryant, William Bryant and Raymond Bryant; two sisters, Ora Hughes and Essie Walker.
The funeral will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Leroy Clack officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday before the funeral.

Harry Belt Waller
DANVILLE, Va. - Harry Belt Waller, 80, of 224 Randolph St., died Nov. 20, 2002, at Stratford Health Care Center.
Born Feb. 1, 1922, in Steadman, N.C., he was the son of William Edward Waller and Ola Law Waller.
He was a graduate of George Washington High School, attended Wake Forest University and was a graduate of Georgetown University. In the 1990s, he worked in Europe with the state department and for 30 years was president of a men's fashion business in New York.
He is survived by a brother, James Law Waller and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Northen officiating.

Calvin Scott Barber
DRY FORK, Va. - Calvin Scott Barber, 73, of 3513 Sandy Creek Road, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at his residence.
Born July 17, 1929, he was the son of Turner Barber and Ida Belle Scott Barber Butcher.
He was married to Iva Jeane Holland Barber on July 7, 1948. He lived his life in Pittsylvania County and prior to his retirement, he was a farmer. He was a member of Whitmell Christian Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by two sisters, Naomi B. Pritchett of Danville and Mattie Lou B. Sheffield of Greenville, N.C.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister, Nelor Mae Barber Black; and five brothers, Capres Barber, Claude Barber, Eddie Barber, Norman Barber, and Thomas Barber.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Butch Dillinger, Pastor Jack Oakes, and Rev. Dr. Leroy Clack officiating.

Harry 'Hump' Coleman
JAVA, Va. - Harry "Hump" Coleman, 74, of 564 Yeatts Store Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, near his residence.
Born July 7, 1928, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of George and Lemmer Jones Coleman.
He was married to Sue Coleman, who survives. He was a farmer and retired machine operator with the Schrader Bridgeport (Piedmont) Company in Altavista and a member of the Riceville Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of Danville, he is survived by one son, Harry L. Coleman Jr. of Forstville, Md.; five daughters, Sharon Jackson, Brenda Williamson, Cherie Penick, Donna Brooks, all of Danville, and Joyce Coles of Java; four brothers, Joseph Coleman of Washington, D.C., Rev. Letcher Coleman of Danville, George Coleman of Java, and Clarence Coleman of Newport News; three sisters, Amasie Coleman of Washington, D.C., Dorothy Stone and Fannie Henry, both of Java; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one goddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lenwood and Thomas Coleman; and one sister, Alice Coleman.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Riceville Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Carroll L. Haraway
DANVILLE, Va. - Carroll L. Haraway, 91, of 179 Rocklawn Avenue, died Thursday, August 8, at 7:20 p.m., at his son's residence, 2125 Baxter Street.
Born August 2, 1911, in Danville, Virginia, he was the son of Thomas Edward Haraway and Minerva Hudson Haraway, who predeceased him.
He was a lifetime member of Third Avenue Christian Church. He was a retired police lieutenant with the City of Danville after 30 years of service. He worked as a security guard for Averett University. He was an avid fisherman and a hunter and was a member of The Virginia Wild Life Club.
He was married to Mamie Dunevant Haraway, who died March 22, 1993.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Ramona Haraway of Danville; two grandchildren, Mark L. Haraway and wife, Sheila, of Apex, N.C. and Ricky L. Haraway and wife, Beverly, of Danville; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Haraway, Jacob Haraway, and Adam Haraway; and two brothers, Percy Haraway of Danville and Garland Haraway of Tucson, Ariz.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Freddie Haraway and Homan Haraway; and two sisters, Lillian Tussing and Katie Moore.
The funeral will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2002, at Barker Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddy Vicks officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

Zella Inman
BROSVILLE, Va. - Zella Owen Inman, age 88, of the Brosville Community died Thursday, August 8, 2002, in Riverside Health Care Center.
She was born on June 10, 1914, in Pittsylvania County, VA, a daughter of Thomas Madison Owen and Nora Shumate Owen.
Mrs. Inman was married to Robert Nelson Inman who died on September 14, 1975.
She had lived most all her life in the Brosville Community and was an active member of Brosville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Inman was the last survivor of twelve children.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Stephens and her husband, Randy of Danville, a grandson, David Stephens and his wife, Alice of Danville, a granddaughter, Suzanne Long of Danville and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Long of Danville, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2002, at 2:00 pm from the Brosville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Edward Roland and the Rev. Linwood Daniel. Interment will be in the Owen Family Cemetery in Brosville.
The family received friends at Townes Funeral Home on Friday night, August 9, 2002 and at other times will be at the residence of Randy and Peggy Stephens, 342 Sandy River Drive.

Clarence 'George' McDaniel
CASCADE, Va. - Clarence "George" McDaniel, 70, of 3037 Huntington Trail, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 12, 1932, in Eden, N.C., he was the son of William McDaniel and Mary Betty Carter McDaniel, who predeceased him.
He married Helen "Nell" Cross McDaniel on Nov. 9, 1952. He lived in Cascade for the past 49 years and was a member of Emanuel Friends Church in Eden, N.C. He was a truck driver for Roy Stone Trucking Company for 25 years prior to retiring on disability. He was a member of the National Guard.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by one son, Timothy Wayne McDaniel of Eden, N.C.; and three sisters, Virginia Chambers, Edna Tate, both of Eden, N.C. and Lillian Keck of Reidsville, N.C.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by three brothers and two sisters.
The graveside funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Danville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Haywood Allcorn and Rev. Bill Preslar officiating. Interment will follow.

Edward Lee Moore
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Edward Lee Moore, 89, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born March 27, 1913, in Chatham, he was the son of the late Lee Arthur and Lena Yeatts Moore.
He was married to Helen Martin Moore for sixty-three years. He was retired from John P. Hughes Motor Company and was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three brothers, Harry C. Moore, Addison C. Moore and Jack G. Moore, all of Chatham; and one sister, Mildred Moore Hudson of Durham, N.C.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Julius E. Moore and Carlton Hunt Moore.
The graveside funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Spring Hill Cemetery.

ALTON, Va. - Jamie Scott Wilkins Sr., 22, of 2005 Dabney Warren Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Dawson Trail.
Born Feb. 18, 1980, he was the son of James Lee "Jimmy" Wilkins and Margaret Samford Carter.
He was married to Stephanie Smith Wilkins.
In addition to his parents and wife of Alton, his survivors include one step-father, Andy Carter Jr.; one daughter, Allison Lee Wilkins; one son, Jamie Scott Wilkins Jr.; four step-sons, Drew Dease, Jesse Reaves, Justin Reaves, and Jacob Reaves; two brothers, Raymond Albert and Shane Matthew Carter; and one sister, Christie Wilkins Clay, all of Alton.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Harmony United Methodist Church with Rev. Frankie Reaves and Rev. Elizabeth Spencer officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
