Rennie ‘P.D.' Hunt
DANVILLE, Va. - Rennie Edward "P.D." Hunt, 67, of 537 1/2 N. Main St., died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the residence.
Born Aug. 23, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Rennie E. Hunt and Elizabeth Lowe Hunt.
He was of the Baptist faith and worked for Norman Myers Construction Co. and Lorillard Tobacco Co.
Survivors include one brother, Thomas L. Hunt of Danville; and three sisters, Olivia H. Waller of Woodbridge, Odessa H. Hostley, and Delores Robinson, both of Danville.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jasper Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
The viewing will be held 2-8 p.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends at other times at 509 Chatelaine Ave.

Shawn Landsverk
DANVILLE, Va. - Shawn Stephanie Landsverk, 42 years, of 170 Marshall Terrace died on May 11, 2002 in Danville Regional Medical Center. She was in the hospital for three days and died suddenly.
She was born on February 25, 1960 in Madison, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Franklin Landsverk and Janet Bodt Landsverk, who both survive.
Miss Landsverk had lived in Danville for the past three years. She was employed by the Danville Pittsylvania County Community Services where she was a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Miss Landsverk was very active in Animal Rights.
She is survived, in addition to her father of Rio, Wisconsin, and mother of Charlottesville, Va., include one sister, Lisa Landsverk of Charlottesville, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 170 Marshall Terrace, Danville, Va.

Elizabeth Mayo
ETTRICK, Va. - Elizabeth Ann Mayo, 56, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg.
Born April 25, 1946, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Goode Venable, who survives, and Richard Venable.
She was married to John Mayo Jr., who survives. She was a graduate of Virginia State University and taught at A.P. Hill Elementary School. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother of Danville and husband of Ettrick, include one son, John Mayo Jr.; one daughter Michelle Mayo Williams; three grandchildren; one sister, Jacqueline Evonne Younger; two brothers, Richard Venable of Danville, and Al Donnovan of Danville.
The funeral will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg with the Rev. Diggs officiating.
Bernice Walton
DANVILLE, Va. - Bernice W. Walton, 73, of 210 Swain Drive, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the residence.
Born March 10, 1929, she was the daughter of Henry and Dorothy Hodge White.
She was married to Albert Walton, who predeceased her. She was employed by Dan River Inc., the Hughes Memorial Home, and Register Publishing Co.
Survivors include one sister, Annie M. Gunn of Newport News.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Dillard officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Mary Pauline Coletrane Farrington Abdul-Azeez
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Mary Pauline Coletrane Farrington Abdul-Azeez, 72, of 4725 H Spring Trace Dr., Charlotte, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 in the University Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.
Born April 22, 1909, in Orange County, N.C., she was the daughter of Franklin Emsily Coletrane and Jessie Cacutta Coletrane.
She was a member of Jones Grove Baptist Church in Hillsborough, N.C., where she was former president of the Usher Board, and the Friendly gospel singing group. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended High Rock Baptist Church in Blanch, N.C. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by stepchildren; and two nephews, Rev. Donald Coletrane and Leon Coletrane, both of Yanceyville.
She was married to George Farrington, who predeceased her.
She later married Muhammed Abdul-Azeez, who also predeceased her.
In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by four brothers, Charles Odell Coletrane, Cummins Coletrane, Joe Coletrane and Percy Franklin Coletrane.
The funeral will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at High Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Broadnax officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors 2 p.m. Sunday before the funeral at the church. At other times they will be at the residence of her nephew Leon Coletrane, 66 Everett Road, Yanceyville.

Thomas Edward Allen
AMHERST, Va. - Thomas Edward Allen, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born July 19, 1928, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of John Berkley Allen and Telitha Jane Riddle Allen.
He was married to Lula White Allen.
He is survived by one daughter, Telitha A. Mahdavi of Lynchburg; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Dennis Allen of Halifax and Eugene Allen of Richmond.
The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Boley and the Rev. Randall officiating.

Willie Eugene Bruce
BLAIRS, Va. - Willie Eugene Bruce, 70, of 2260 Malmaison Road, died Wed., Jan. 1, 2003 at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 25, 1932, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Eugene and Janie Bradley Bruce.
He was married to Viola Bruce.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by one son, Willie Eugene Bruce Jr. of Blairs; four sisters, Ethel Pounds, Lucille Wilson and Betty Anderson, all of Danville and Janie Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; and two brothers, Ellis Bruce and Roger Bruce, both of Danville.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Corey Torrain officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

Louis Edward Covington Sr.
DANVILLE, Va. - Louis Edward Covington Sr., age 78, of 150 Brookview Road, died Friday, January 3, 2003 in the Riverside Health Care Center after a decline in health.
He was born on April 29, 1924, in Ringgold, Va., a son of John Lacy Covington and Mildred Bennett Covington.
He was married to Edna York Covington, of the home, who survives.
Mr. Covington was associated with Sears for 30 years until his retirement. He was a Veteran of World War II and served in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a former charter member of the Danville Evening Lions Club and a former member of Glen Oak Country Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Louis Edward Covington Jr. of Santa Barbara, CA and Glenn York Covington and his wife Rachel of Warrenton, Va.; a sister, Faye Covington Brightwell, Raleigh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Covington and Rachel Covington; two step-grandchildren, Thomas Buckley and Colleen Buckley.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 5, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. from Highland Burial Park by Rev. Levi Stroud and Rev. Linwood Daniel. Full military honors will be given by the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 325.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence.

Bobby Richard Crosby
DANVILLE, Va. - Bobby Richard Crosby, 67, of 1302 Kemper Road, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 in Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health and 10 days in the hospital.
Born June 21, 1935, in Mulberry, FL, he was the son of Harry Jefferson Crosby and Dolly Agnes McGilary Fortson, who predeceased him.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member of the Eagles at Smith Mountain Lake, and a member of the American Legion Post #1097.
He lived most of his life in Florida, and had been a resident of Danville for the past five years.
He was retired from Roland and Bryant Conveyor Belt Company of Louisville, KY, where he worked as an electrician.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He was married to Annette Lester Crosby on July 28, 1997.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by three daughters, Michelle Vining of Frisco, Texas and Laurel Ann Crosby and Dawn Marie Crosby, both of Reno, NV; two brothers, Joey Fortson of Mulberry, FL and Jerry Fortson of Lakeland, FL; one sister, Judy Gilbert of Orange Park, FL; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a stepfather, W.O. "Pete" Fortson.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

John Duncan
RINGGOLD, Va. - John Lewis Duncan, 78, of 700 Cedar Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Piney Forest Health Care Center after one year of declining health.
Born March 8, 1924, in Roxboro, N.C., he was the son of Henry Duncan and Nannie Bell Holt Duncan.
He had lived most of his life in the Newport News area and in Pittsylvania County. He was a retired construction worker. He was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church in the Mountain Hill community.
He was first married to Betty Willhite Duncan, who predeceased him April 6, 1989. He then married Audrey A. Duncan on March 19, 1990.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Robin M. Rosson of Ringgold; five sisters and three step grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother.
The graveside funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Booth Family Cemetery at Kentuck with the Rev. William Mizelle officiating. Interment will follow.
The family received friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times will be at the residence, located in the Mountain Hill community.

James Aneste Kirios
DANVILLE, Va. - James Aneste Kirios, 80, of 460 North Main St., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 20, 1922, in Danville, he was the son of Aneste Kirios and Agalaia Polites Kirios.
He lived most of his life in Virginia and was living in Danville at the time of his death. He was of the Greek Orthodox faith. He had been disabled since the age of 15.
He is survived by a brother, Nickolos Kirios of Jersey City, N.J. and two sisters, Maxine Toutountis of Jersey City, N.J. and Sofie Diacogiannis of Oceanport, N.J.
The graveside funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Peter Rexinis officiating.
A Trisagion service was held 7 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home. The family received friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home.

BLAIRS, Va. - Rose Samarion Luck, 80, of 2580 Lawless Creek Road, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2003, at her residence.
Born Sept. 12, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Ernest Wilson and Delsie McLaughlin Wilson.
She was married to Charles S. Luck, who predeceased her.
She is survived by two daughters, Julia R. Luck of the Bronx, N.Y. and Denise Colton of Mitchellville, MD; two sons, Charles Keith Luck of Danville and Carl R. Luck of Greensboro, N.C.; and one sister, Berta Mays of Chester, PA.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Bibleway Worldwide Church Cathedral, with Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery.
