Dorothy Fern Kniceley Foote Jennings
Dorothy "Dot" Fern Kniceley Foote Jennings, 86, of Crewe, Va., died Saturday, November 17, 2001.
She was born September 17, 1915 in Crewe, daughter of William Elmer Kniceley and Mary Effie "Mollie" Wenger Kniceley, and was preceded in death by two husbands, Paul Henry Foote and Linwood Clark "Red" Jennings. Mama Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a devoted member of the Crewe Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Molly Ann Foote Elmore and husband, Troy, Kitty Hawk, N.C.; William Foster "Billy" Foote and wife, Kay, Crewe, Paul Henry Foote and wife, Debbie, Crewe, Lynne Gail Jennings Boswell and husband, Jack, Burkeville, Barbara Leigh "Bitsy" Jennings Higgins, Burkeville; her sisters, Cleo K. Flippen of Amelia, Maude K. Culliton of Crewe, Margaret K. Owens of Scotland, Md.; her brother, Paul H. Kniceley, Crewe; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at her residence in Crewe at 425 Indian Oak Rd., from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2001. A memorial service will be held at Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home in Crewe, Wednesday, November 21 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Crewe or Burkeville Fire Depts.

Robert D. Wells Sr.
Robert D. Wells Sr. (Sonny), 73, of Powhatan, widower of Margie Wells, born November 24, 1928, departed this life November 24, 2001.
He is survived by three daughters, Judy Allen, JoAnne Patron and Juli Lam; son, Robert Wells Jr.; four sisters, Barbara Bass, Phyllis Nicholas, Alice Baggett and Jean Speas; seven grandchildren, Jinger, Jacki, Robert, Jesse, Joshua, Zachary and Nathan; two great-granddaughters.
Sonny was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Reynolds Metals Company. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Graceland Baptist Church Cemetery.

William L. Goode of Powhatan departed this life Monday, November 26, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Goode; son, William Linwood Goode Jr.; daughter, Brigette Marie Goode; parents, Mattie G. Moore and Lee Johnson Sr.; stepmother, Patricia Johnson; stepfather, Sidney Moore Sr.; brothers, Levi Payne, Tony Payne, Gary Payne, Lorenzo Goode, Steve Goode, Donald Goode, Melvin Goode, Lee Johnson Jr., Kevin Johnson, Stefan Johnson, Anthony Johnson and Ron Johnson; sisters, Judy Cox, Patricia Woodson and Stephanie Scott; a host of nieces and nephews; aunt, Eunice Lane; two aunts-in-law; two uncles-in-law; 13 sisters-in-law, eight brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2:30 p.m., Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Powhatan County, Rev. Revell Hicks, pastor, officiating. Interment church cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to services. Relatives and friends attending funeral services assemble at the church Friday, 2 p.m.

Herbert William "Willie" Shaw, 57, a farmer, of Kenbridge, Va., died November 29, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Arend Shaw of Kenbridge; his son, Earnest Shaw of Powhatan; his father, Herbert E. Shaw of Kenbridge; three stepsons, Duane Murphy of Honey Brook, Pa., Darren Murphy of Kenbridge, Andrew Murphy of Madison Heights, Va.; eight grandchildren; his sisters, Iris Kenney of Amelia, Claudia Russell of Willard, Mo., Betty Bates of Kenbridge; and his brothers, Sam Shaw of Kenbridge and James Shaw of Amelia.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 2, in the Dundas Baptist Church. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Dundas Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Virginia Baptist Children's Home in Salem, Va. Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, in charge of services.
Alene M. Morrison
Alene M. Morrison, 70, of Powhatan, Va., widow of Chancey N. Morrison, died June 1, 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. and John N. Morrison; two brothers, Ernest and Curtis Marion; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cumberland Baptist Temple in Cumberland, Va.

Clara Goodman Scott, 93, of Amelia, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 5, 2001.
She is survived by five sons, Roosevelt, John, Joseph, Wendell and Wallace Scott; four daughters, Alice S. Howard, Deloris S. Johnson, Edna Celia S. Hayes and Rosalind S. Clarke; one brother, Eastfoot Goodman; one sister, Rose Montague; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, at 1 p.m. from Union Branch Baptist Church in Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
Emily Reed Scruggs
Emily Reed Scruggs departed this life Tuesday, June 5, 2001.
Scruggs, formerly of Amelia, passed away in Long Island, N.Y. She is survived by her six children, Ronald, Patricia, Bernard, Dorothy, Allen Jr., and Donald Scruggs; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Reed; and two sisters, Martha Jane Banks and Caroline Brown.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m. from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Amelia, with interment in the church cemetery.
Henry E. Glover
Henry E. "Ed" Glover, 65, of Powhatan, son of the late Henry Mason Glover and Katherine C. Culley, died June 7, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Faye F. Glover; two sons, Donnie and Dean Glover of Powhatan; three brothers, Tommy Glover and Harold Glover of Chesterfield, and Glenn Culley of Farmville; two granddaughters and two foster granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Reginald Glover.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Red Lane Baptist Church in Powhatan with interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life in Powhatan or the Red Lane Baptist Church Building Fund.

Donald L. Easter, 61, of Amelia, died on June 8, 2001.
He is survived by his brothers, Corbin L. and Rupert W. Easter, both of Amelia; Jack Easter and sister, Thelma E. Morris, both of Midlothian.
Funeral services took place Sunday at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visiting took place at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. Amelia, Va. 7-9 p.m. on Saturday.

Emmett Stuart Kerrick Jr., 49, of Powhatan, died June 8, 2001.
He is survived by two sons, Stuart Franklin Kerrick and Justin Emmett Stuart Kerrick; a daughter, Tara Leigh Molohon; his father, Emmett Stuart Kerrick Sr.; a brother, Stuart Kerrick; and four grandchildren.
His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Maury Cemetery.

Nancy Byrd Tilman Richter of Powhatan passed away on June 8, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Louis Richter Sr., and a grandson, Carl H. Keplinger Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Carol R. Keplinger; a son, William L. Richter Jr.; a brother, Samuel C. Tilman, all of Powhatan; three sisters, Jane Brown, Martha Boelt and Courtney Chandler, all of Chesterfield; three grandsons; and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Powhatan Community Cemetery.

Joseph Tyler Martin, infant son of Joseph Martin and Jeri Elder; and brother of Wesley Elder, died June 9, 2001.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 16, at 1 p.m. at Rennie Church Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home.
Geneva T. Nolen
Geneva T. Nolen, 86, of Chesterfield, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Lucy Corr Nursing Home.
She was retired from General Binding Corporation in Amelia. She is survived by a son, Tommy Nolen of Chester; five stepchildren, Anne Raiford and Mae Jordan, both of Richmond, Vera Weaver of Miami, Fla., Myrtle Wills of Midlothian and James A. Nolen of Appomattox, Va.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Chester Baptist Church.

Dottie S. West, 89, of Amelia, died on June 9, 2001.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence, and is survived by her sister, Rita Stogner of Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place Monday at 2 p.m. at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home with burial in Little Flock Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home took place from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amelia Rescue Squad.
