Stephen Joseph Drake, 22, of Newsoms, died July 14, 2001 at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond.
He was the Service Manager of Branchville Machinery Company, attended Barnes United Methodist Church and loved his movies and books. Survivors include his wife, Kelly Stanfield Drake; his parents, Joseph H. and Linda Tomlin Drake of Newsoms; a brother, Patrick Justin "P.J." Drake; maternal grandmother, Patsy Tomlin of Franklin; paternal grandparents, R.E. and Hilda Drake of Newsoms and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, William A. "Bill" Tomlin.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Tuesday in Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Hartman officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 1224, Franklin, Va. 23851.
Donald J. Shreffler III
Donald J. "Tre" Shreffler III, Lance Corp., USMCR, 21, of Amelia, died on July 14, 2001.
A graduate of Amelia County High School, he is survived by his parents Donald and Laura Shreffler of Amelia; his brother Justin G. Shreffler of Amelia; paternal grandmother Peggy Shreffler of McClure, PA; and maternal grandparents Charles and Blanche Harmon of Bailey, MS.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Amelia. Contributions may be made to either the Amelia Co. Fire Dept or Mattoax Presbyterian Church. Visitation Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., Amelia.
Robert McClane Llewellyn
Robert McClane "Mac" Llewellyn, 62, of Powhatan, passed away July 19, 2001.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a beloved and devoted wife, Doris Taylor Llewellyn; two sons, Ronald Lane Llewellyn and his wife, Daphne, and Albert Todd Llewellyn; two daughters, Kimberly L. Smith and her husband, Jeff, Tanya L. Torrijos and her husband, Robbie; his mother, Cora Szuchy; two stepchildren, Scott Mitten and DeAnn Evans; two brothers, Billy Llewellyn and Nelson Llewellyn; one sister, Maxine L. Bloomer; four grandchildren, and three stepgrandchildren.

Mary Evelyn Johnson
Mary Evelyn Johnson, 70, of Powhatan, died July 21, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, A. Sanders Johnson; two daughters, Robin Bass of Norfolk, and Faith Joy Johnson of Texas; two sisters, Tilly Rominger of Richmond, and Carolyn C. Wynn of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Chester A. Givens
Chester A. Givens, age 92, of Amelia, devoted husband of Alice Wood Givens for 62 years, entered into eternal life Sunday, July 22, 2001.
He is also survived by his daughters, Mary Friend (George) of Richmond, Frances Brown (William), Alice Worsham (Frank), Addie Monroe (John), Nettie L. Givens and Jacqueline Booker (Frank); sons, Chester S. (Rosa), Walter D. and Tyrone C. Givens (Selena), all of Amelia; special niece, Nettie Keaton Wright of Akron, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anna Givens of Richmond, Ada Johnson and Lillian Wood of Jersey City, N.J., Lucille Wood of Farmville and Beatrice Hunt of Greenbay; brother-in-law, Walter Wood of Farmville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Scott Thompson, 28, of Powhatan, died July 23, 2001, in MCV Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Kim Thompson; two children, Ronald Forest Scott Thompson, Zachary Emmett Issac Thompson, all of Powhatan; his father and mother, John Emmett and Melanie Dance Thompson; three brothers, Daryl Shannon Thompson, Brian Christopher Thompson, Michael John Thompson, all of Chesterfield; a sister, Jennifer Christine Mitchell of Chester; an uncle, Ronald Dance of Riva, Md.; and several nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. The interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Shiloh New Covenant Church Cemetery, Anderson Rd., Cumberland.

Patricia Tsigaridas, 60, of Amelia, died on July 29, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Chris; her son, Gregory Chris of Farmville; her brothers, Paul Starr Jones of Amelia, William P. Jones of Crawfordsville, Indiana; her sisters, Daisy Jones Ranck and Carol Jones Edwards, both of Richmond.
She was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Jones and her brother, Neal Jones.

Laura Marie Uber of Powhatan, formerly of Chesterfield County, died July 29, 2001.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edwin F. Uber; two daughters, Christine Anthony and Cindy Butler; one son, Richard Uber; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Stack; three brothers, Robert Link, Edwin Link and Donald Link; and 13 grandchildren.

Lloyd Arrington, age 88, of Crewe, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Swicegood Arrington (1985), a son, George A. Arrington and grandson, William H. Webb III. He is survived by his wife, Bess Nichols Jessup-Arrington; two daughters, Lola Mountcasel Lail and husband, Sam of Crewe, Lois A. Webb and husband, William H. (Butch) of Roanoke; stepdaughter, Evelyn Lee Jessup-Stokes of Powhatan; sons, Elmer L. Arrington of Disputana, William L. Arrington and wife, Shirley of Colonial Heights, David A. Arrington of Richmond, Alvin R. Arrington and wife, Judy of Kenbridge, Joe Arrington and wife, Aileen of Disputana, and Webster Alexander of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Shirley Elliott Arrington of Charlotte, N.C.; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Herman Arrington; sisters, Bernice Paugh, Berlin Coates, Louise Smith, and Hazel Ashby.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Bible Road, Crewe, with Pastor Jason Hay officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe, Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Joseph D. Cheatham Jr.
Joseph D. Cheatham Jr., age 58, of Chester, died January 1, 2002.
He is survived by his children, Tina Hudson of Chesterfield, Clifton Cheatham of Powhatan, Kevin Cheatham of Midlothian, Kathy Ayers of Jetersville; his mother, Thelma Cheatham of Richmond; one sister, Flora "Tootsie" Cosby; three grandchildren, Tyler, Stephen and Christopher.
Mr. Cheatham was employed by Hancock Service Center. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Church of God of Prophecy, 3400 Turner, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2002. Juanita Goodwin Kite
Juanita Goodwin Kite, 81, of Blackstone, Va., died January 1, 2002 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George Preston Kite Sr. She was the daughter of the late Lafayette Goodwin and Mollie Wilson Goodwin, born in Carter County, Tenn. April 29, 1920. After school, she worked at the American Bemberg Corp., a silk mill in Elizabethton, Tenn., until 1947. The plant made parachutes for the WWII effort.
In 1948, she relocated with her husband to Virginia where they owned and operated the Wellville Guernsey Farm on Old Richmond Road selling Grade A milk until retiring in November 1981. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen K. Cole of Chester, Va. and Suzanne K. Ward of Powhatan, Va.; one son, George Preston Kite Jr. of Blackstone, Va.; one sister, Tress Campbell of Grey, Tenn.; two special nieces, Peggy Smith of Hampton, Tenn. and Geraldine Livingston of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a host of other nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren, Sarah E., George P. III and John R. Kite, L. Courtney Cole, and Robert L. Jr. and Melanie A. Ward.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery Saturday at 10 a.m., Dr. Zolton Phillips III officiating. Frances B. Stepko of Powhatan died January 1, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Stepko of Powhatan; two sons and their wives, Stephen and Claudia Stepko and Donald and Erin Stepko, all of Powhatan; and four grandchildren.

Denise Baker, 37, of Powhatan, died Wednesday, January 2, 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Monica and Heather Baker of Powhatan; one brother, Daniel Albrecht of Remington, Va.; two sisters, Brenda Betz of Harrisonburg, Va. and Christina Harlow of Midlothian; her stepfather, Edward W. Geer III of Powhatan.

Emily Maxey Jenkins, 76, of Powhatan, widow of Arthur E. "Pete" Jenkins Jr., died January 3, 2002.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry W. Jenkins of Chapin, S.C., Gary M. Jenkins of Powhatan and Christopher T. Jenkins of Colonial Heights; one daughter, Beverly J. Tackett of Powhatan; one brother, James Maxey Jr. of Millersville, Md.; one sister, Joyce Hart of Chesterfield; 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Red Lane Baptist Church, the Powhatan Historical Society, French Huguenot Society and D.A.R.
