Mark Winston Paul
A beloved son and brother, Mark Winston Paul, 38, of Powhatan, died January 31, 2002.
He is survived by his parents, Bette Jo and Ralph E. Paul; two sisters and their husbands, Terry and Neil Sherman, Tracy and Paul Christman.
He was a loving and cherished uncle to his niece and two nephews. His family and friends will remember his generosity of spirit and love of life. Mark was an active member and Sunday school teacher of Open Door Baptist Church.
The family received friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the Open Door Baptist Church. Interment Powhatan.

Virginia Sours Dickerson, 72, of Amelia, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2001.
She was the widow of Hugh Dickerson Jr. and is survived by her children, Hugh Dickerson III, Wayne Dickerson, Roy Dickerson, Sam Dickerson and Jenny Garrett; grandchildren, Shanna, Chris, Trey, Cole, Jason, Shawn, Austin and Cody Dickerson; sister, Doris Derickson of St. Louis, Mo.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
Otis J. Morris
Otis J. Morris, age 88, of Amelia, died on December 5, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hartman Morris; daughters, Shirley Deagle of Mechanicsville, Barbara Smith and son-in-law, Littleton of Amelia; brother, Richard of Varina; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday 2 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home. Burial in Piedmont Baptist Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Cora Nixon LLewellyn Szuchy
Cora Nixon LLewellyn Szuchy, 89, of Chesterfield and Amelia went to be with the Lord December 5, 2001.
She is preceded in death by Ernest Lee Llewellyn and Mike Szuchy; and a son, Robert McClane Llewellyn. Left to cherish her memory, two sons, Billy Lee Llewellyn and wife Nan, and Ernest Nelson Llewellyn and wife Patsy; one daughter, Maxine Llewellyn Bloomer and husband Bill; daughter-in-law, Doris O. Llewellyn; 14 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 stepgreat-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Amelia, Va.

Ruby C. Townsend, 68, of Powhatan, died December 5, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Jackson Townsend; two sons, Harvey Lee Townsend, Jesse "Tommy" Townsend, both of Powhatan; two daughters, Janice Townsend of Chesterfield; Emma Ellis Phillips of Louisburg, N.C.; one sister, Thelma L. Holt of Winston-Salem, N.C.; devoted lifelong friend, Sylvia Jean Adams of Powhatan; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Julia Atkins Dillon
Julia Atkins Dillon, age 49, of Crewe, died on December 7, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh; a son, Robert Samuel "Rocky" Smith of Crewe; brothers, Sammy Atkins, Jessie Ray Atkins and Ronald Lee Atkins, all of Amelia and David Garland "Ricky" Atkins of Dinwiddie; sisters, Linda Kay Procise of Richmond, Lois Estelle Emerson of Amelia and Patricia Ann Easter of Chile, S.A.; and one grandson, Xavier I. Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia with burial in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. Contributions may be made to the Gideons. Hillsman Hix Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Dickey McKee White Sr.
Dickey McKee White Sr., 75, of Powhatan, died December 12, 2001.
He was the son of Jessie J. and Robbie K. White. He was born in Nelson County and raised in Newport News. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Ella Hughes White; daughter, Margaret L. White of Virginia Beach; son, Dickey M. White Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Newport News; stepson, William C. Hughes and his wife, Sharlene of Hawaii; sister, Twyla W. Pittman and her husband, David of Florida; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. White was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Red Lane Baptist Church and American Legion Post 201.
He was Past Master of Powhatan Masonic Lodge No. 295, served as District Deputy Grand Master and a Past Patron of Powhatan OES 146. He retired from Bass Construction after 23 years, and again from Parker & Lancaster as general field superintendent.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan, and where a Masonic service will be held 6:45 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at Red Lane Baptist Church, Powhatan. Interment 2:30 p.m. at Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery, Piney River.
Lawrence E. Hall
Lawrence E. "L.E." Hall, 82, of Moseley, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary G. Hall; and by a foster son, Jeffrey Green. He is survived by his son, L. Nick Hall and his wife, Judy of Moseley; and two foster daughters, Crystal Cox and Pam Umholtz; two sisters, Mozelle Sims of Moseley, and Viola Hall of Amelia; four grandchildren, Ginger, Jane, Nick Jr. and Sam; and three great-grandchildren, Lacey Nichole, Jeffrey Dillion and Hunter Edward; and numerous nieces and nephews, with a host of special friends and family members.
Mr. Hall was a veteran of World War II. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m. at Skinquarter Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Skinquarter Baptist Church Building Fund.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Sadler; son and his wife, Robert L. and Tamra Sadler Jr. of Amelia; daughter and her husband, Becky and Johnny Dix of Chesterfield; his mother and her husband, Lee and Leslie "Bubba" Holt; two sisters, Janice Palmore and Joan Tuck; seven brothers, Thomas Jr., Jake, Charles, Norman, Alan, Bennie and Dennis Sadler; four grandchildren, R. Lee Sadler III, Adam, Archer, Heather and Jacob Dix; two stepgranddaughters, Danielle and Megan Lund.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Parker; son, Bobby Parker Jr. of Hopewell; daughter, Stacy Lynn Parker of Powhatan; stepchildren, Tony Mackin and Kimberly Vogel; two brothers, George A. Parker of Va. Beach, William P. Parker of Nags Head; three sisters, Shirley Bryant and Paige Tomlin, both of Suffolk and Annette Peden of Smithfield; and two grandchildren.

James H. Dawson, Jr., 62, of Powhatan, passed away August 1, 2001.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Anne Dawson; and is survived by his current wife, Valerie F. Dawson; his children, Lynn R. Hardy, Connie A. Conte, Sandy D. Martin, Tim Dawson and Valeane F. Dawson; seven granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter; and four sisters, Joyce Daniel, Geniveive Covington, Katherine Martin and Patricia Isherwood.
His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (tonight), and where a funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday followed by interment in Dale Memorial Park. Nellie Tinsley Allen of Powhatan, Va., formerly of Goochland, Va., entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Meadows Nursing Home in Goochland.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Peyton Tinsley and second husband, James B. Allen; three children, Nellie Mae, Peyton Jr. and Vanessa Tinsley. She leaves to cherish her memories Robert Tinsley of Richmond, Isabel Tinsley of Goochland, James and Carolyn Tinsley of Fluvanna; Bruce and Janice Tinsley of Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, seven brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, at 1 p.m. at the Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbia, Va., where the remains will lie in state from 11 a.m. until hour of service. Rev. Ellis R. Hill officiating. Interment church cemetery. Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, Va., in charge of arrangements.

Joyce L. Atkinson, age 64, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2001.
She is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Mary P. Horning of Richmond; three sons, Gene N. Atkinson and wife, Christine, Wayne R. Atkinson and wife, Sandy, and Troy L. Atkinson, all of Chesterfield; two sisters, Evelyn Butler of Chesterfield and Delores Smith of Richmond; four brothers, James E. Horning of Chesterfield, Glen L. Horning of Powhatan, C. Thomas Horning and Jerry M. Horning, both of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Kelly, Gavin, Ryan, Spencer, Cameron and Paige Atkinson; also several nieces and nephews.

Daniel Ryan Gascoyne
Daniel Ryan Gascoyne, age 26, died Thursday, August 2, 2001 after a two-year battle with lymphoma.
He graduated from Huguenot Academy in Powhatan, Class of 1993, attended Radford University, was employed by Industrial Recycling Services of Canton, Ohio, and Trane Corporation of Richmond, Va. He was the beloved son of Daniel and Elizabeth Gascoyne, brother of Rise and Bill Gascoyne, grandson of Margaret Gascoyne and the late Josephine and Bill Muro.
The family will receive friends 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church in Powhatan, Va. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park.
