Ruth J. Roche
Ruth Jones Roche, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Stratford Health Care Center in Danville, Va. She formerly lived at 377 West Avenue in Harrisonburg, Va.
A daughter of the late Arthur Lee Jones, M.D. and Fannie Kirby Jones, she was born on Oct. 26, 1913, in Helton, N.C.
She lived most of her life in Harrisonburg and resided in Danville for the past seven years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg before moving to Danville. She worked for the Daily News-Record and Shank Wholesalers, both of Harrisonburg, before retiring at age 79.
She married William Joseph "Joe" Roche Sr. of Williamson, W.Va., who preceded her in death in 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Roche Cook and husband, William, of Mount Crawford; a son, William Joseph Roche Jr. and wife, Luann, of Danville, Va.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean Jones, M.D. and Hunter Jones, and two sisters, Hope Hale and Frances Pool.
Graveside services will be held Monday, Oct. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, Va., by Father Jim Gallagher.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 3, from 7 until 8 p.m. at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home and on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the home of Patricia Cook, 3230 Oak Ridge Road, Mount Crawford, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to either the Danville Humane Society or Harrisonburg-Rockingham SPCA.

Ruby Rodgers, 81, of McGaheysville, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at her home.
Funeral arrangements were pending Wednesday night at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Catherine Marie (Boogie) Austin, 74, of Comertown Road in Shenandoah, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Charlee E. Jenkins
Charlee Elleen Mae Jenkins, 9, of 262 Grandview Drive in Luray, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003.
She was born Nov. 7, 1993, in Charlottesville, and was a daughter of Ricky Dewayne Jenkins and Thu Thuy Jenkins.
She was a fourth-grade student at Luray Elementary School
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Diana Lynn Jenkins; her grandparents, Elwood D. Jenkins of Sperryville and Khoa T. Jenkins of Luray; and great-grandparents, George W. and Bessie Ellen Jenkins of Sperryville.
The Revs. Jon Heddleston and Albert A. Kling will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. Burial will be at the Sperryville Cemetery in Sperryville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Chief Warrant Officer USA Retired Allen J. Keeney, 83, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Avante at Harrisonburg.

Lillie S. Haggerty
Lillie Susan Sions Haggerty, 93, of Purgitsville, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center in Baker, W.Va.
Mrs. Haggerty was born Aug. 29, 1909, in Flats, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late David and Gertha Smith Sions.
She was a member of the Morefield Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Haggerty; two daughters, Joanne Webster of Lost City, W.Va., and Arlene Susan High of Purgitsville, W.Va.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pastor Harold Garber and the Rev. Andrew Agnew will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield, W.Va.

Ralph V. Pratt
Ralph Vincent "Skin" Pratt, 79, of Moorefield, W.Va., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
Mr. Pratt was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Hardy County, W.Va., and was a son of the late Edwin M. and Jemima Susan Veach Pratt.
He was a member and elder of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the M.H.S. 1942 undefeated football team and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Pratt graduated from Potomac State College and West Virginia University and attended Maryland University Graduate School. He retired from the A.S.C.S. in 1986.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Dare Wilson Pratt; three sons, John Pratt and Frank Pratt, both of Moorefield, W.Va., and Scott Pratt of Athens, Ga.; two daughters, Susan Halterman of Petersburg, W.Va., and Linda Pratt of Winchester; a sister, Dorothy Alvey of New Market; five half brothers, Gerald Pratt, Murphy Pratt, Chester Pratt, Edwin Pratt and Raymond Pratt, all of Moorefield, W.Va.; a half sister, Janet Bosley of Moorefield; and seven grandchildren.
Pastor Braxton Garriss will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. today at Moorefield Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery with military rites by the Moorefield Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Warner Manasses Eutsler Jr., 80, of 323 Horsehead Road in Grottoes, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Corinne W. Gartin
Corinne Wynell Cosner Gartin, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, and formerly of Maysville, W.Va., died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the home of her son in Maysville, W.Va.
Mrs. Gartin was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Maysville, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Harry Cosner and Magdaline "Maggie" Michael Cosner.
She retired from Anchor Hocking Glass in Lancaster, Ohio, and was a member of the Shady Lane Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio for 45 years.
Her husband, John R. Gartin, preceded her in death June 30, 1996.
Mrs. Gartin was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by a son, Delmas R. Gartin of Maysville, W.Va.; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Lynn Durbin will conduct the funeral 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be at the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, W.Va.

Malcolm D. Neff
Malcolm David Neff, 69, a resident of Collicello Street in Harrisonburg, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2003, at his home. He had been ill for the past two months.
A son of the late Robert F. Neff Sr. and Lillian Smith Neff, he was born on July 14, 1934, in Harrisonburg, where he lived all of his life.
Mr. Neff was a contractor with R.F. Neff and Sons and was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Jill Neff May and husband, Charles, of Bridgewater, Mala Neff May and husband, Ronnie, of Shenandoah, and Pamela Neff Heatwole and husband, Merwin, of Dayton; three grandchildren, Sarah and Chris May and Michelle Heatwole; one sister, Lois Neff Simmers of Linville; one niece; two nephews, and very special friends, Guy Spruhan and Don Barstow.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert F. Neff Jr.
It was Mr. Neff’s wishes that his body be left to medical research.
The family will receive friends at the home of Chuck and Jill May, 118 West College St., Bridgewater, on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Robert E. Kiracofe
Robert E. "Bob" Kiracofe, 75, of Bridgewater, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Saturday, Sept. 29, 1928, in Weyers Cave, and was a son of the late Albert L. and Mamie Kenney Kiracofe.
Mr. Kiracofe attended the Bridgewater United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Men, Dayton American Legion, and Bridgewater Ruritan Club. Bob was a car salesman and antique dealer and had served in the United States Marines.
In his spare time, Bob liked to refinish furniture and donate his talent to the church.
On Sept. 25, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Libby" Florence Puffenbarger, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gregg Kiracofe and wife, Barbara, of Bridgewater, Scott Kiracofe and wife, Lisa, of Bridgewater, and Kevin Kiracofe and wife, Dawn, of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Jennifer Kiracofe Sager and husband, Terry R., of Bridgewater; two sisters, Kathleen Coffman of Dayton, and Janet Detamore of Harrisonburg; two granddaughters, Amanda Sager of Bridgewater, and Jessica Roberts of Mesa, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Kiracofe, and a grandson, Justin Roberts.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery in Bridgewater, on Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, with the Rev. Douglas D. Gestwick officiating.
A memorial service will be held at Bridgewater United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Clara P. Gestwick officiating.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service or anytime at the home.

Charlotte L. Clatterbuck
Charlotte Lucille Clatterbuck, 89, of 16 North Willow St., Harrisonburg, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. She had not been in good health for the past year.
She was born July 25, 1914, in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Raleigh Hamilton and Emma Temple Higgins Newman.
She lived in Harrisonburg all of her life. She had been employed by Shenandoah Valley Produce and was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Doris C. Joseph, Shirley Raines and Mona Ageon, all of Harrisonburg, and Phyllis Rowe of Dayton; three sons, Robert E. "Sonny" Clatterbuck and Norman Clatterbuck, both of Harrisonburg, and Kenneth Clatterbuck of Staunton; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The Rev. David Nelson will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
