Earl L. Wilson
Earl Lee Wilson, 51, of Staunton, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.
Mr. Wilson was born Nov. 1, 1951, in Highland County, and was a son of Thurman "Fuzz" and Catherine Malone Wilson of Staunton.
He was of the Methodist faith and was employed at Roadway and Ray Carr Tires before becoming disabled.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Carl Wilson, Lewis Wilson, Charlie Wilson and Ralph Wilson, all of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pastor John Fisher will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community United Methodist Church on Cedar Green Road in Staunton. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
Maureen A. Walsh
Maureen "Mommet" Anne Walsh, 57, of 308 Quincy Ave. in Shenandoah, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Ms. Walsh was born Sept. 3, 1946, in New Jersey, and was the daughter of the late Patrick Edward Walsh and Helen Ann O’Connor Walsh.
She was a clerk at Family Convenience.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Anne Campbell of Stanley and Christine Marie Yuhas of Shenandoah; two brothers, Jay Vincent Wasesky of Freehold, N.J., and Patrick Edward Walsh of New Jersey; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Father Christopher Lemme will conduct a Rosary service 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call at the home of her daughter, Patricia Campbell, at any time.
Mae R. Henry
Mae R. Henry, 74, of Quicksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in the emergency room at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. She had recently been a patient at Life Care Center in New Market.
Mrs. Henry was born May 1, 1929, in Shenandoah County, and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ada Lam Olinger.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Quicksburg United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 1, 1948, she married Harold William Henry, who preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Sue Henry Whetzel of Timberville; a son, Michael William Henry of Quicksburg; a brother, Lawrence E. Olinger of Quicksburg; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Dr. Steve Proctor and the Rev. Keith Hulton will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Quicksburg United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Mount Jackson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market.

Bobbie W. Lamma
Bobbie William Lamma, 69, 5840 Cardinal St., Mount Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Lamma was born April 20, 1934, at Jerome and was the son of the late Gilbert Clinton and Mazie Miller Lamma.
He served in the United States Army and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Jerome. He was a carpenter.
On Dec. 3, 1960, he married Clara Hensley Lamma, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Clinton Lamma and Kevin Lamma, both of Mount Jackson, and Darryl Lamma of Jerome; a sister, Mary Jane Stoneking of Woodstock; a brother, Guy Lamma of Fort Valley, and 12 grandchildren.
The Rev. Harold E. Burnette will conduct the funeral 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jerome. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson.

Carroll L. Lam Sr.
Carroll LaVerne Lam Sr., 72, of Edinburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.
Mr. Lam was born June 4, 1931, in Broadway, son of the late Dee Robert and Mary Moyers Lam.
He served in the United States Army. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 979, where he earned his Pilgrim Degree, and served as former Governor. He was a member of the Hassler-Sutphin American Legion Post No. 166 in New Market.
He was a retired truck driver for Hartman’s Motor Carriers after 21 years of service and was a retired dispatcher with Johns Manville. He recently transported vehicles for Hartman’s Motor Sales, Dick Myers Auto, E and E Sales, Curtis Knupp and Mason Motor Sales.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene M. Lam; sons, Beverly W. Lam and wife Barbara of Edinburg, Carroll L. Lam Jr. and fiancée Dorothy Smallwood of New Market, James E. Lam and wife Tracey of Mount Jackson; a daughter, Deborah L. Marazzo and husband Michael of Mira Mar, Fla.; a sister, Ruby F. Painter and husband Herbert of Luray; a brother-in-law, Mose Grim of New Market; a nephew he raised, Gregory L. Grim and wife Jan of Bella Vista, Ark.; 13 grandchildren including Amy L. Lam whom he raised; four great-grandchildren including Matthew M. Lam whom he was currently raising; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson with the Rev. Glen Turner and the Rev. Barbara Rhodes officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vada L. Liskey
Vada Lee Lineweaver Liskey, 97, died at the Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center on Oct. 21, 2003.
Mrs. Liskey was born on April 26, 1906, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Newton and Maggie Early Lineweaver.
She lived her entire life in the Rockingham County area and was a member of the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church.
On Nov. 6, 1924, she married Harry Owen Liskey, who preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1984.
She is survived by two sons, Harry O. Liskey Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; Robert N. Liskey and wife Barbara M. of Staunton; one granddaughter, Melanie Showalter; and one sister, Edna Hinegardner of Pleasant Valley.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Heintzleman officiating.
The casket will be closed, there will be no viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater rescue Squad in her memory.

Ervin P. Blosser
Ervin P. Blosser, 84, 824 Humbert Road, Crimora, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at his residence. He had been in declining health for a number of years.
Mr. Blosser was born May 5, 1919, in Augusta County and was the son of the late Samuel Oliver Blosser and Fannie Craig Blosser.
He was a lifelong member of Hildebrand Mennonite Church. He was retired from Cromptons Shenandoah.
Surviving are two brothers, Collis Blosser of Waynesboro and William Clyde Blosser of Verona; two sisters, Eva Mae Blosser of Crimora and Sylvia Marie Hartley of New Waterford, Conn., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pastors Ralph Martin and Richard Showalter will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Sunday at Hildebrand Mennonite Church in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at Hildebrand Mennonite Church.

Carroll L. Lam Sr., 72, of Edinburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

Betty W. Hammer
Betty W. Hammer, 76, of Monterey, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Hammer was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Pendleton County, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Sewell Jackson Sr. and Ruth Gutshall Warner.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Highland County Rescue Squad, a member of the Highland County Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary and Monterey Home Demonstration Club.
On Aug. 14, 1946, she married Carl Eugene Hammer, who preceded her in death May 14, 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Olivia Lee Hammer of Monterey; three sons, C.W. Hammer and Dale Hammer, both of Monterey, and Mike Hammer of Blue Grass; a sister, Rosa Lou Hawn of Kingsport, Tenn.; a brother, S. Jack Warner Jr. of Mustoe; seven granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Sherry Ann Lowry and Bernice Smith.
The Revs. Michael Sullivan, Donald Rose, Darren Massey and Chip Hill will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery.

Lurtie D. McDonald
Lurtie David McDonald, 87, of Penn Laird, died Oct. 22, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital
Mr. McDonald was born June 22, 1916, near Elkton, and was the son of the late Alexander and Beulah Alger McDonald.
He was a member of the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics at Elkton and Mount Zion United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school treasurer for 46 years and was the oldest member prior to his death. He was a graduate of Elkton High School and a trustee at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
Mr. McDonald joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and worked at Fort Monroe, Front Royal, Roxberry and was section leader in Camp 3, at Shenandoah National Park from 1936 to 1939. From 1939 to 1942, he worked at Duplan in Grottoes, and from 1942 to 1945, he worked in the Shipyards in Baltimore. In September of 1945, he went to work for Merck & Company at Elkton and retired on June 30, 1981.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Life McDonald. Mr. McDonald is survived by two sons, Ward D. McDonald and wife, Linda, of Waynesboro, Roland McDonald and wife, Judy, McGaheysville; two daughters, Gaye Hume and husband, Bob, Gloria McDonald-Myers and husband, Roger, all of Harrisonburg; a sister, Thelma Rebstock, Elkton; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grover McDonald, and a sister, Margaret Orye.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. The Rev. Shirley Mercer and Rev. Fredric Miller will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends tonight (Thursday) from 7 to 8 at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the home of his son, Roland McDonald in McGaheysville at any time.
Geneva Bowman Westhafer
Geneva (Bowman) Westhafer, 85, widow of Guy Grant Westhafer, formerly of Rainbow Drive and Baldwin Park, Staunton, died at 2:16 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2003) at Our Lady of Peace, Charlottesville.
She was born Nov. 20, 1917, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late J.T. Bowman and Lula Olivia (Jamison) Bowman.
Mrs. Westhafer was a homemaker and a lifetime partner with her husband at Central Tire Corp. and was the corporate secretary.
She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Prior to going to Covenant, she was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder, Sunday school teacher, Pastor’s Aide, a member of Agape Fellowship, and active in the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Gypsy Hill and Sara Seaton Garden Clubs for many years.
Her husband, to whom she was married over 56 years, preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Bowman; and a sister, Irene Bowman.
Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, M. Terry and Patricia C. Westhafer of Staunton, and Tommy and Dottie S. Westhafer of Verona; one brother, Ellis Bowman of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, Julie S. (Westhafer) Basic of Williamsburg, Lt. Mary G. Westhafer, of Harpswell, Maine, Krystle M. Westhafer, of Verona, and Jason A. Springel, of Staunton; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 25, 2003) at Covenant Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Herbert T. Lewis. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 24, 2003) at Henry Funeral Home.
