Wilma M. Trobaugh
Wilma Mae Trobaugh, 85, formerly of Pineville, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Avante at Harrisonburg, where she had lived since July.
Mrs. Trobaugh was born Nov. 22, 1917, in the Port Republic area, and was a daughter of the late Grover Scott and Anna Marie Coffman Hooke.
She was a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren and was a retired postal clerk at the James Madison University Post Office.
On April 9, 1939, she married Carl Aldin Trobaugh, who preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Gregory S. Trobaugh of Penn Laird; a sister, Thelma H. Stickley of Grottoes; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The Rev. A. Lee Kinsey will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Friday at the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren near Port Republic. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Kyger-Pence Funeral Home near McGaheysville.

Reba V. Heatwole
Reba Virginia Driver Heatwole, 86, of Stuarts Draft Christian Home, and formerly of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Harrisonburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Augusta Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late Rhodes and Anna Weaver Driver
Mrs. Heatwole was a charter member of Greenmonte Mennonite Church, where she was very active in organizing various church social events. She headed many children’s activities and served as a children’s Sunday School and Bible School teacher.
She and her husband, Alvin W. Heatwole, helped start the Virginia Mennonite Relief Sale.
She collected funds for the Heart Association and the Polio Vaccine Drives.
Known for her hospitality, she and her husband opened their home to many visitors and friends over the years. Mrs. Heatwole was a self-taught artist who shared her painting with family and friends. She worked at the silk mill, Southern Department Stores and as a partner with her husband in farming.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin W. Heatwole, and her brother, Harold Driver.
Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis Martin and her husband, Garland, of Waynesboro, Janeth Duncan and her husband, Phillip, of Phoenix, Ariz., Rosalie Moyer and her husband, Ronald, of Powhatan and Alvina Roth and her husband, Richard, of Luray; three sisters, Edith Branner, Gladys Driver and Brownie Driver, all of Harrisonburg; nine grandchildren, Michael Martin, Rodney Martin, Lavonn Hostetler, Janette Lile, Sidney Moyer, Karen Bast, Deborah Blosser, Richelle Roth and Brandon Roth and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2003.
Following a private family burial, a memorial service will be held at Springdale Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, with the Revs. Evan Brenneman, Roy Martin and Paul Yoder officiating. The grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

John D. Burkholder
John David Burkholder, 66, of 860 Greenway Circle, Waynesboro, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Burkholder was born Nov. 25, 1936, in Augusta County, and was a son of Aaron David and Ruth Virginia Driver Burkholder.
He was the owner and operator of Burkholder Tractor for a number of years. He was recently a pastor at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren and was active with the Gideons.
He is survived by his wife, Violet V. Burkholder; a daughter, Tonna M. Welcher of Greenville; two sons, Todd David Burkholder of West Lafayette, Ind., and Dennis H. Coffey of Waynesboro; four brothers, James A. Burkholder of Dillsburg, Pa., Amos F. Burkholder of Goshen, Ind., Joseph R. Burkholder of Spottswood, and Mark D. Burkholder of Mount Sterling, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Richard Showalter and Chaplain Gary Major will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro.

Mary S. Bazzle
Mary Sue Bazzle, 51, of Concord Church Road in Timberville, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003.
Mrs. Bazzle was born Oct. 25, 1951, in Shenandoah County, and was a daughter of the late Casper and Daisy Anderson Ryman.
She was a dental assistant at Dr. Robbins office in Timberville and was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.
On Feb. 28, 1976, she married Leroy E. Bazzle, who survives.
She is also survived by two stepchildren, Michael Bazzle and Tina Bazzle, both of Pennsylvania; a sister, Doris Ayers of Broadway; a brother, James Jenkins of Timberville; and a stepgranddaughter.
Pastor C. Bernard Troutman will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Morning Star Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mount Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

Velma N. Simmers
Velma Nadine Simmers, 78, of Daffodil Drive in Timberville, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Simmers was born April 6, 1925, in Mathias, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Adam and Eliza Whetzel Thomas.
She was employed at Rockingham Poultry in Timberville for a number of years and was a member of Mount Olivet Church of the Brethren in Timberville.
On April 26, 1945, she married Harold William Simmers, who preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1972.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Calhoun of Timberville, Janet Shirkey of Broadway and Linda Cubbage of Stanley; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. James Jinks will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in the Timberville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
The casket will be closed at the church.
Ruth E. Robillard
Ruth Elizabeth Robillard, 64, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Robillard was born July 26, 1939, in Maine, and was a daughter of the late Edward and Doris Arlene Simmons Heald.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain View Church of the Brethren in Mathias.
Her husband, Renee Robillard, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Leveillee of Mathias, W.Va., and John Mahitka of Forrestville; two daughters, Donna Mahitka of Harrisonburg, and Laura Carver of Troy; a number of brothers and sisters and three grandchildren.
Her body was cremated and there will be no services.
Arrangements are by the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
Catherine M. Austin
Catherine Marie "Boogie" Austin, 74, of Shenandoah, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mrs. Austin was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Page County, and was a daughter of the late Earman and Florence Hilliards Painter. She was raised by her father and stepmother, the late Beulah Painter.
She was a member of the Avis O. Comer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8613 Ladies’ Auxiliary in Shenandoah. She was employed at the Luray Textile Plant and the Alma Poultry Plant before retiring.
In 1948, she married Paul C. Austin, who survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Linda Roach of Elkton; four sons, Paul T. Austin, Gary E. Austin, and Dexter Austin, all of Shenandoah, and Larry W. Austin of Stanley; a stepbrother, William Stephenson of Luray; two sisters, Peggy Bennett of Elkton and Dorothy Good of Shenandoah; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Brother Edwin "Buzzy" Deane will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sandy Bottom Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Mount Lebanon Church Cemetery on Comertown Road in Page County.
Her body will be taken to the church 3 p.m. today, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening. Friends may also call at the home of her daughter in Sandy Bottom at any time.
Arrangements are by the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
Forrest J. Berg
Forrest Julian "Sam" Berg, 75, of Maysville, W.Va., died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
Mr. Berg was born June 6, 1928, in Jordan Run, W.Va., and was a son of the late Rodney W. Berg and Nora Barger Berg.
He retired from Kessel Lumber Company and was the owner and operator of S.B. Lumber Company in Maysville. He attended the former Maysville Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include his former wife, Mary Stonestreet Berg of Maysville, W.Va.; five daughters, Judy Mallow and Elizabeth "Beth" Sites, both of Maysville, W.Va., Juanita Kuykendall and Phyllis Dolly, both of Petersburg, W.Va., and Becky Mongold of Berryville; five sisters, Alberta Reel of Moorefield, W.Va., Betty Simonsen of Fort Washington, Md., Shirley Schaefer of High Point, N.C., Geraldine Simmons of Augusta, W.Va., and Karen Kimble of Maysville, W.Va.; three brothers, Verlin "Peter" Berg, Hetzel "Cub" Berg and Galen Berg, all of Maysville, W.Va.; a foster brother, Dennis Howard of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Lynn Durbin will conduct the 11 a.m. funeral Thursday at the Maysville Bible Brethren Church. Burial will be at the Maysville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va.

Warner M. Eutsler Jr.
Warner Manasses Eutsler Jr., 80, of Grottoes, died on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg following an extended illness. He was born on March 8, 1923, in Camden, N.J., and was the son of the late Warner M. Eutsler Sr. and Ada Perry Eutsler.
He graduated from Gambrills High School in Maryland. He was a Staff Sgt. with the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and served in the Battle of Normandy.
A lifelong carpenter by trade, he was a member of Local 132, Washington, D.C. and supervised numerous landmark and historical renovations in the Washington, D.C. area, including The White House and The Pentagon. In 1983, he retired and moved to the Grottoes area.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and flyfishing and was a talented wood craftsman.
He was a member of the Grottoes United Methodist Church and sang with the "Celebration Singers."
On May 8, 1943, he married Rebecca Lee Wiseman, formerly of Staunton, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Nancy Lee Compton and her husband, Gary, of Frederick, Md., Kimberly Nicole Eutsler of Grottoes; two grandchildren, Kevin Warner Compton and Alexia Nicole Strother; two sisters, Florence Miller of Gambrills, Md., Sandra Barbour of Friendship, Maine; two brothers, Raymond P. Eutsler of Fredericksburg, Gerald Eutsler of Rockland, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Stewart officiating.

Mary E. Farthing
Mary Ellen Farthing, 72, of Elkton, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Cynthia Wilson, in Elkton.
Mrs. Farthing was born March 11, 1931, in Augusta County, and was a daughter of the late John Daniel and Teresa Belle Daggy Propst.
She had been a resident of Elkton since 1968. She was a bookkeeper for A.B. Torrence of Elkton for 14 years and for Terry Court Florist in Staunton for 15 years. She was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church.
On April 28, 1951, she married Charles Philmore Farthing Jr., who preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Charles P. Farthing III of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Cynthia Wilson and Teresa Davis, both of Elkton; a brother, John E. Propst of Harrisonburg; a sister, Reba P. Peyton of Verona; and six grandchildren.
Her body will be cremated at Harrisonburg Cremation Service. Burial will be private.
The Rev. David H. Burch will conduct a memorial service 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Verona United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service and also from 7 to 8 this evening at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
