Gabor M. Aufricht
Gabor Michael Aufricht, 83, of Basye, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at Life Care Center in New Market.
Mr. Aufricht was born Nov. 21, 1919 in Arad, Romania and was the son of the late Adolf and Maria Frankel Aufricht.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
On Nov. 9, 1947, he married Winifred Aufricht, who survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Christine A. Heyse of Silver Spring, Md.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Kate Mallow
Kate Mallow, 80, of Cabins, W.Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W. Va.
Miss Mallow was born Oct. 4, 1922 in Brushy Run, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Kenneth Mallow and Zernie Phares Mallow.
She retired from Joan Curtis Manufacturing in Petersburg, W.Va., and attended the Cabins Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Turner of Cabins, W. Va., two sons, Dice Mallow of Woodbridge and Roy Mallow of Maysville, W.Va.; three sisters, Julie Vance of Cabins, W.Va., Margie Long, a resident of Grant County Nursing Home-Petersburg, W.Va., and Grace Anderson of Seneca Rocks, W.Va.; and five grandchildren.
The Rev. Rebecca L. Bennett will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va., Burial will follow at Mallow Cemetery in Timber Ridge, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. this evening at Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Ruby R. Rodgers
Ruby Refice Rodgers, 81, of Elkton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Rodgers was born Sept. 23, 1922 in the Swift Run area of Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Effie Lawson Rodgers.
She was reared by the late Mike and Minnie Lawson and lived the majority of her life in Rockingham County in the Penn Laird and McGaheysville communities.
Mrs. Rodgers worked at DuPlan in Grottoes and also at Merck in Elkton. She was a member of Mount Olivet Christian Church.
On Jan. 3, 1946, she married Paul Thomas Rodgers, who preceded her in death on May 21, 1991.
She is survived by a son, Alton Paul Rodgers of Grottoes; a half brother, Richard "Dick" Shifflett of Detroit, Mich.; two foster brothers, Newman Lawson of Delaware and William "Billy" Lawson of Elkton; one grandson; and special friends.
The Rev. Wayne Wright will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Saturday evening at the funeral home and at the home of her son at 404 18th Street in Grottoes at any time.
Evelynne W. Branner
Evelynne "Evelyn" W. Branner, 88, of Fulks Run died Oct. 2, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. Branner was born February 9, 1915 in Broadway, and was the second oldest of nine children born to Allen Wilcher Whitmore and Kitty Aldhizer Whitmore.
Mrs. Branner had learned to love and care for children early in her life with a large family. After graduating from Madison College, she became an elementary school teacher, teaching mostly in Rockingham County for 26 years. When she came to the old Fulks Run School, there were two rooms and 7 grades. This is where she met her husband at a box social. Fulks Run eventually became home for the rest of her life. After retiring from teaching she continued to teach and work with children in her home. She did homebound teaching and also gave music lessons to many young children. She also was a great baby sitter for neighbors as well as her own children. She was a member of Mt. Grove Church of the Brethren in Fulks Run, where she played the organ and taught Sunday School.
On June 19, 1942 she married Earnest "Jim" Branner, who died on September 30, 1996.
She left a daughter and son in law, Joyce B. and Paul H. Wilkins of Fulks Run; two sons, Johnny A. Branner of New Market and Jerry W. Branner of Fulks Run; two brothers, Raymond "Beck" Whitmore of Broadway and Jake Whitmore of Broadway; two sisters, Geneieve VanPatten of Broadway and Josephine Hutton of Timberville; eight grandchildren, Wes Branner, Tonya Branner, Dusty Branner, Danny Branner, Melissa Lester, Dominique Branner, Mike Branner and Laurie Branner; and eight great grandchildren, Derrick Branner, Ashley Branner, Christopher McPherson, Jeremy Lester, Justin Lester, Todd Branner, Dylan Branner and Brice Estes.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Branner; three brothers, A. Stratton Whitemore, Jack S. Whitmore and Alden Whitemore; and one sister, Nancy Whitmore Baker.
The Rev. Glen Turner and Jerry Shiflet will conduct a memorial service at the Mt. Grove Church of the Brethren. A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Grove Cemetery. The graveside service will be open to anyone who wishes to attend.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Friends may call anytime at the Branner residence, or at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

Charles T. Hart Jr.
Charles Thomas "Sonny" Hart Jr., 54, of Harrisonburg died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003.
Mr. Hart was born Oct. 30, 1948 in Goshen and was the son of Rachel Patterson Hart of Harrisonburg and the late Charles T. Hart Sr.
He was a truck driver.
Surviving besides his mother, are two sons, Charles Michael Hart of Timberville and Ronnie A. Hart of Harrisonburg; one brother, Wilmer "Billy" Hart of Colorado; two sisters, Dora L. Trammell and Penny J. Hart, both of Harrisonburg; and one granddaughter.
Pastor Jay Ashby will conduct a graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mt. Clinton Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
Sandra D. Jones
Sandra Diane Sours Jones, 46, of 1105 Mountain View Drive, Harrisonburg, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Jones was born Aug. 4, 1957 in Luray and was the daughter of Walter Lee and Edna Earl Buracker Sours.
She was a switchboard operator for eight years at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
On Feb. 21, 2003, she married James Edward Jones Jr., who survives.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by five daughters, Latoya Settles of Japan, Whitney Jackson and Devondra Jackson, both of Harrisonburg, Tonya Jones of North Carolina and Melissa Johnson of Newport News; three sons, Marcus Frye of Winchester, Travis Frye of Japan and Terance Hopper of Newport News; five sisters, Shirley Cook of Shenandoah, Jean Silvious, Brenda Moulder, Connie Stoneberger and Dot Wright, all of Luray; and two grandchildren.
The Rev. Charles R. Turner will conduct funeral services 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at The Bradley Funeral Home, Inc. in Luray. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Luray.

Eddie H. Caul
Eddie H. "Sporty" Caul, 78, of Washington, D.C., and formerly of Harrisonburg, died Sept. 26 at Howard Universtiy Hospital.

Reginald E. Ruckman
Reginald Eugene Ruckman, 77, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 29, 2003, at his home in Staunton, Va., after a four-month illness with cancer.
A son of the late John T. and Viola Chandler Ruckman, he was born on Jan. 18, 1926, in Waynesboro, Va.
He is predeceased by a son, Roy Lee Ruckman, and a brother, Virgil Dean Ruckman.
Reggie, as everyone called him, is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carrie Via; four sisters, Dallace Sims of Piggott, Ark., Judy Smith of Easton, Md., Jean Johnson of Locust Grove, Va., and Maxine Strickler of Verona, Va.; and a brother, Thomas Beaver Ruckman of Berlin, Md. He is also survived by nine children, Mike Ruckman and his wife, Becky, of Grottoes, Va., Beverly Cash and her husband, Steve, of Stuarts Draft, Va., Darrell Ruckman and his wife, Leslie, of Manassas, Va., Jerry Ruckman of Staunton, Va., Patty Burruss and her husband, Chuck, of Harrisonburg, Va., Randy Ruckman and his wife, Debra, of Baltimore, Md., Gary Ruckman of Verona, Va., Daniel Ruckman and his wife, Cathy, of San Antonio, Texas, and Regina Ruckman of Spring Creek, Va.
Reggie was Granddaddy to 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Reggie graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1943. He was retired from Tom’s Snacks Sales.
Funeral services will be held at the White Hill Church of the Brethren in Stuarts Draft on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John Hamric. Burial will follow at the White Hill Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, from 7-8 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Service of Stuarts Draft. The casket will be closed.

Jonathan S. Taylor
Jonathan "Jack" Scott Taylor, infant son of Scott and Angela Taylor of Bridgewater, died Monday Oct. 27, 2003.

Mercedes A. Bunch
Mercedes Allen Bunch, 85, of Lynchburg, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at St. John’s Nursing Home.
Mrs. Bunch was born July 8, 1918, in Bridgewater, and was a daughter of the late Donald Byram Allen and Mercedes Bowman Allen.
She graduated from the College of William and Mary and did post graduate work at Richmond Polytechnic Institute to begin a career as a social worker in the late 1930s in southwest Virginia and the City of Richmond. She was later a librarian at Seven Hills School in Lynchburg, where after her retirement, the library was named in her honor. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years.
Her husband, George Henry Bunch Jr., preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Edward A. Bunch of Lynchburg; two daughters, Susan B. Blanchard of Hamden, Conn., and Jane B. Moser of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Sara Katherine White of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the church columbarium.

Lottie M. Hensley
Lottie Margaret Caricofe Hensley, 91, of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at the Bridgewater Home.
Mrs. Hensley was born Sunday, Dec. 24, 1911, in Bridgewater, and was a daughter of the late Jesse Forrest and Beulah Helms Caricofe.
She was a seamstress at Metro Pants and did volunteer work at the Bridgewater Home.
Her husband, Dallas Hensley, preceded her in death in 2002.
Survivors include a son, John A. Hensley of Front Royal; a sister, Juanita C. Wagner of Dayton; a brother, Glen Ray Caricofe of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Oaklawn Cemetery with her grandson, John A. Hensley Jr. officiating.

Emma K. Dunmore
Emma Kathryn Dunmore, infant daughter of Neil and Heidi Walker Dunmore of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Aric, and a sister, Ellie Grace, both at home; and grandparents, Nigel and Yvonne Dunmore of Avella, Pa., and Monte and Brenda Furry of Huntingdon, Pa.
The Rev. Clara P. Gestwick will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bridgewater United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
