Earlie A. Huffman
Earlie Albert Huffman, 88, of Franklin, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Huffman was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Riverton, W.Va., and was the son of the late Ora Huffman and Rettie Bland Huffman.
He was employed at John Manville Insulation Company in Washington, D.C., and was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church.
His wife, Sylvia Mae Lambert Huffman, preceded him in death Feb. 16, 2002.
He is survived by four daughters, Rettie Mae Waggy of Franklin, W.Va., Sarah Fay Harper of Bridgewater, Mildred Florence Jennings of Peterstown, W.Va., and Rose Elva Adams of Wellsburg, W.Va.; two sons, Albert Wayne Huffman and Ralph Ora Huffman, both of Franklin, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Huffman was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Pastor James Phares, the Rev. Jonathon Jennings and Elder Willard Huffman will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va. Burial will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Florence V. Keyser
Early in the morning on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, Florence Virginia Keyser peacefully passed away and was welcomed into God’s loving arms.
Born in Newport, Va., Jan. 20, 1924, to the late Samuel Lee Turner and Dollie Florene Housden. She was a member of Hilliard Chapel Assembly of God in Stanley, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher.
Florence had worked as a bookkeeper for Mims Material Co., Alliance Manufacturing and as a substitute teacher for Stanley Elementary School.
Those left behind to cherish her precious memories are her husband, Owen, and her three daughters, Sylvia Jenkins of Luray and son-in-law, Billy, Wanda Painter of Harrisonburg and son-in-law, Jerry, and Carolyn Cubbage of Stanley and son-in-law, Nelson; and a son, Jerrold Keyser and daughter-in-law, Ann, of Spring Grove, Pa. Grandchildren are Amy Chu, Tammy Jenkins and Davy Jenkins of Luray, Jamie Claytor of Grottoes, Kim Templeton of Westmoreland, Tenn., Elizabeth and Jerrold Keyser Jr. of Spring Grove, Pa., and Jeremy, April, Patrick and Jonathan Cubbage of Stanley. Great-grandchildren are Maggie and Sofia Chu, Jordan Painter, Jaden Keyser and Hannah Cubbage; one sister, June Malbone and husband, Sonny, of Rileyville; and one brother, James Turner and wife, Carlee, of Stanley.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce, and grandson, Chris Painter.
Florence will be remembered for her unconditional love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her devotion and unwavering faith to her Lord.
A special thank you to Katrina Buracker and Maxine Ponn for their loving care of our loved one. Also, a special thank you to the nursing staff of Page Memorial Hospital for their loving care to her all the many times she has been a patient there and also, the love, concern and tenderness shown to her and her family during her passing. Also, a thank you to Dr. James Dale and his staff and Home Health Care who have been faithfully tending to her medical needs over the years.
Florence will be sadly missed by many dear friends whom she loved who made her life more complete.
A celebration of her life will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at Hilliard Chapel Assembly of God in Stanley by Pastor Doug Gochenour, Pastor James Henry, Pastor Earl Painter and Pastor Eddie Walker. A private burial will be at the Leaksville Cemetery early in the day.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Arthritis Foundation.
The body is at the Bradley Funeral Home for public viewing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003. There will not be a family night, however family and friends may call or visit at the Keyser home at 1780 U.S. Highway Bsn. 340W in Stanley.
William S. See Sr.
William Simon See Sr., 80, of Moorefield, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
Mr. See was born June 27, 1923, in Bass, W.Va., and was the son of the late Simon William and Mary Mae See.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was a self-employed power line contractor. He was Brethren by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Sophia Fitzwater See; a daughter, Betty J. Harman; four sons, Delmas W. See, Donald F. See, Gary G. See and William S. See Jr., all of Moorefield, W.Va.; five sisters; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pastor Otis "Buzz" Weatherholt will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at the Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, W.Va. Burial will be at the Olivet Cemetery with military rites by the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Lora L. Bierkamp
Lora Lee Bierkamp, 66, of Moorefield, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Bierkamp was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Alexandria, and was a daughter of the late Allen A. Ellicot and Ruth Anna Green.
She was a homemaker and a secretary for Bierkamp and Son Welding.
She is survived by her husband, Blaine Bierkamp; three sons, Michael, Scott and Jesse Bierkamp, all of Moorefield, W.Va.; a daughter, Linda Meloni of Elkins, W.Va.; a sister, Terri Shrader of Strasburg; nine grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
The funeral was held Oct. 24 at the Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield with the Rev. John Wills officiating. Burial was at South Branch Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, W.Va.
Memorial donations may be made to Grant Memorial Hospice.
Norma D. Smith
Norma Dixon Smith of Washington, D.C., died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Madge Dykes Dixon and Walter Dixon. She lived with her paternal grandparents, the late Lucy Wood Dixon Howard and stepgrandfather, Horace G. Howard in McGaheysville.
She retired from the Bureau of Engraving and was a dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Robert Smith, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter Aleesha M. Smith, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The funeral was held Oct. 23 with arrangements by Fort Lincoln Funeral Home.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
Mary L. Anderson
Mary Love Wynne Anderson, 73, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Anderson was born July 23, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, and was the daughter of the late Fitzhugh Lee and Catherine Roberts Wynne.
She moved to Harrisonburg three years ago from Roanoke. She was educated in the Texas school system and was a member of the Red Cross. She attended the Lutheran Church.
On Oct. 5, 1951, she married Duwain G. Anderson, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Michael Anderson of Lorton; three daughters, Vickie Bradley of Spring City, Pa., Donna Anderson of Woodbridge, and Linda Anderson of Modesto, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Her body was cremated at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Cremation Chapel.
Ruby M. Lucas
Ruby Mantz Lucas, 97, of Edinburg, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Tandem Health Care of Woodstock.
Mrs. Lucas was born Sept. 18, 1906, in Edinburg, and was the daughter of the late Guy Phillip Mantz Sr. and Katie Louise Hoffman Mantz.
She retired from Union Station Restaurant in Washington, D.C., where she was a hostess. She was a member of the Edinburg Christian Church.
Her husband, Levi Lucas, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a stepson, David Lucas of Elkton; a stepdaughter, Ella May Grimsley of Shenandoah; a brother, Guy Mantz of Edinburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Elmo Mantz will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Monday at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Anna M. Brown
Anna Margaret Turk Brown of Trenton, Mich., and formerly of Bridgewater, died Sept. 19, 2003, in Trenton.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Faith Methodist Church in Trenton and was active in many organizations. She graduated from Bridgewater College.
On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Duane Blanchard Brown, who preceded her in death May 24, 2003.
She is survived by three daughters, Ellen Brown Schramm of Baltimore, Joyce Brown Gillespie of Trenton, Mich., and Victoria Brown Ellis of Hinsdale, Ill.; two sisters, Bennett Turk Newman of Harrisonburg, and Sarah Bettie Turk Diamondidis of Morrisville, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.
Edna A. Grimes
Edna Armentrout Grimes, 90, formerly of Elkton, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at King’s Daughters’ Nursing Home in Staunton, where she had lived for the past three years.
Mrs. Grimes was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Elkton, and was the daughter of the late John D. and Emma Utz Stoneberger.
She was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of East Point United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at E.A.U.S. for a number of years and also did private duty sitting and care giving.
Her husbands, Ashby Armentrout and Clyde V. Grimes, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen A. Allgood of Newport News, and Mary Armentrout-Bray of Roxboro, N.C.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Rev. A.D. Tice will conduct the funeral 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will be at Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
Pearl W. Meadows
Pearl Ware Meadows, 90, formerly of Elkton, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Meadows was born April 22, 1913, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Cora Blose Ware.
She was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of the Elkton Evangelical United Methodist Church. She was employed at the Casey Jones Plant, the Hat Rack, and also did private duty sitting for a number of years.
Mrs. Meadows was a member of the Jr. Order Women’s Auxiliary, the Rebecca Lodge, A.A.R.P. and Senior Citizens. She was a charter member of the Women of the Moose and a lifetime member of the Elkton Fire Department Auxiliary.
On Oct. 19, 1932, she married Lloyd Eldon Meadows Sr., who preceded her in death April 7, 1992.
She is survived by a son, Lloyd E. "Pete" Meadows Jr. of Elkton; three daughters, Margie Mundy of Waldorf, Md., Shelvy Jenkins of Shenandoah, and Janet Eppard of Elkton; a brother, Owen Ware of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Alda Gunn will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elkton Evangelical United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Elk Run Cemetery.

Wanda S. Stephens
Wanda Sue Stephens, 62, of New Creek, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Stephens was born Jan. 22, 1941, in Petersburg, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Olie Ernest Rotruck and Marie Helmick Rotruck.
She was the former owner and operator of Miracle Crafters in Petersburg, W.Va. She was a member of Knobley Church of the Brethren and Patterson Creek Ruritan Club. She retired in 1992 as operator/clerk after 28 years with C&P Telephone Company in Arlington.
She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Stephens; two daughters, Christina Stephens Kesner of Maysville, W.Va., and Tammera Stephens Painter of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sons, Timothy Stephens of New Creek, W.Va., and Rodney Lee Stephens of Martinsville, Ga.; a sister, Juanita Pennington of Scherr, W.Va.; two brothers, Lawrence Rotruck of New Creek, W.Va. and Norman Rotruck of Maysville, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.
The Rev. Jimmy Stump will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be at the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, W.Va.
